Any stuff related to unofficial F2 patches goes in here!

Yes, I am aware of that one. I did say before, however, that any bug ALREADY fixed by Seraph would NOT be fixed by me. I will be including his bug fixes in my next release, though, so those will be taken care of then.

Can you still install the 1.02 patch then serephs then yours?

Well, no, not really. You could just install the 1.02 patch and then version 'B' of my patch which does not include 1.02 fixes. Seraph's patch includes the 1.02 fixes so things would get really screwed up if you install the official patch and then his.

I suppose if you want to get the best of everything, install a fresh install of Fallout 2, install Seraph's latest patch and then dump version 'B' of mine on top. (I think his latest includes all of my fixes already, but better safe than sorry.)

I've come across a couple of minor glitches with the latest patch when playing through the game again. When I do the alchohol delivery quest in Vault City, the bottles remain in my inventory. Another thing is that when talking to Harold before fixing the plant, talking about the hydroelectric magnetosphere regulator there will eventually be a dialogue option for asking where Gecko gets the uranium for the plant. Picking that option will immediately end the dialogue. Looking at Harold's .msg file, it is this line:

{258}{}{Who do you buy your fuel from?}

Hmm, I never had issues with the alcohol delivery nor have I changed anything in that area. (Anyone else experience this)

I will look into the Harold message error.

EDIT: Yes, Harold was a glitch on my part. I had text after choosing the fuel option set on a variable and did not take everything into account in the condition. Thanks. I also looked at the code for the beer quest in Vault City and your beer should be removed. Can you reproduce this error you speak of?

Was reading through this thread again and I wanted to throw in a couple of things

First of all, Killap, thanks for all the hard work. Never have I seen such a huge task completed so quickly, efficiently, and with such great results.

Secondly, I'd like to give a few suggestions for more organizational type things, in terms of mod packages and such.

I've given it a bit of thought, and I'm just going to lay down how I would do it if it were up to me. This is by no means a "Killap you should do it this way" type speech, but rather my perspective on how the modding should be organized.

I've seperated the mods into levels of which I will describe now. I figured since you liked the tier-style suggestion I made for the mods, I'd throw in a more complete and complicated suggestion :D

Level One: Basic Bug Fixes
The original release of Fallout 2, sans bugs. In this particular case, the definition of a bug will be something that was in the final release of the game (and by playable, I mean you could actually do whatever action was involved with the bug) but doing said action would cause a crash, not have the correct effect, allow for an exploit, etc. By this definition, for example, the bugs that involve Miria and Davin and their father (can't remember his name) and the various cases (ie, if the father's dead the game locks up, problems with them being in their room when you enter Modoc, etc) are indeed bugs. Using this same example, however, the man at the slot machine (can't remember his name) is an addition and not a bug (even though his inclusion is PREVENTED by a bug, he is not something that was IN the final release at all). This level should be limited to basic bugs only, the stuff that affects basic gameplay, removes exploits, etc.

(EDIT: I moved this to its own section because its largely personal opinion.) RE: The bug created while fighting Lenny. The solution put forth for this bug was to remove ALL equipment instead of just weapons since the weapons would multiply, however I think that the bug should be left in and the player should be allowed to make the decision to drop their weapons beforehand or not (and therefore allow them to not exploit the weapons bug, but still retain, say, armor and stuff, as I think that's how the developers intended it to be.)

Level Two: Advanced Bug Fixes
Level Two would be compromised of the bug fixes that add additional minor events and characters that were already coded and in the game, but did not show up due to scripting errors and such. The slot machine man, the tanker bar being open 24/7, and the duntons' brahmin-rustling quest are things I would consider as falling under this category.

Level Three: Aesthetic Fixes
There is a small list of features/bugs that are purely asthetic. For example, party members armor being visible, items that have the generic "box" that could be replaced with something more suitable, the heavy weapons sound switch (Bozar and some other weapon had their sounds switched, I think?), etc. While some think this should be included in Level Two, I think that the aesthetic stuff should be seperate, if for example someone wanted to be able to identify their party members instantly, or liked the way everything is now, etc. Giving an option to me is what's important.

Level Four: Quest Additions
Additions of quests that use existing game area but are not in the game because they were scrapped, wasn't enough time, extremely incomplete, have pieces of the quest in the game but not implemented, etc etc. The quest with the Shi body is an example of this.

Level Five: Area addtiions
The final addition for the patches would also include the areas that did not make it into the final game. Abbey, EPA, Primitive Village, etc. This level would also include all quests for these areas and any quests that lead from the main, original game to these areas.

Level X: EXTREMELY EXPERIMENTAL!
Just for the hell of it, I thought maybe there's a way to throw in the Fallout 1 map underneath the Fallout 2 map and be able to travel down there and stuff while in the Fallout 2 game. Since the engines are the same, I think it'd certainly be possible. However, I bet it'd be a whole crapload of work, and it would ALL be new material, based on the stuff that happened after the events of the first game. Maybe after the Enclave, you can visit SoCal...? It's just a thought, and probably not something a single person should tackle, but it'd be a really cool and unique addition if it were possible.

Since I know next to nothing about coding I have no idea how feasible this is, but if you were considering putting together an EXE with ALL the patches together, I'm thinking a smaller step would be to create each of these levels and use an EXE that could install them in any combination. If it's all code that you've already been working with I imagine it'd be easier to compile these together in patterns than say just random code from other peoples' patches.

Anyhow, that's just my point of view on it. I could be wrong :P But I think this would be the best way to do it, and I'd do it myself if I had the skills to.

Good luck with all the modding Killap, and keep up the good work. I want to say again that I think you're doing something awesome, and that I'm not saying you're doing anything incorrectly or wrong, just making suggestions from my personal point of view. :)

I tried various ways of entering the city and giving the alchohol either right away or when I talk to her again. So far every time it was removed. I've experienced keeping the stuff only twice earlier. I guess this is one of those bugs that randomly pop up and are nigh impossible to reproduce intentionally.

Evil-Rage, you stole my post and posted it as your own! I will get you for that.

Edit: Crowley, did you possibly carry a Bag the first time around? It can interfere with item losage.

Why yes, both the times it happened I was carrying the bag I got from the molerat's lair in Modoc.

I think that it is a engine bug. Remove item command just doesn´t seem to work all the time.

Grr, I second that...

*edit* Heres my list-in-progress

1. Fix the holy hand grenade encounter.

2. Cafe of broken dreams pops up repeatedly.

3. (New Reno)After you fix the slot machine and give the old dude the money, then touch the machine again, he gets mad and reverts to the text from before you talked to him.

4. There is 2 mine excavator chips in redding, but you can only give
1 to either kokoweef or morningstar. You should be able to give 1 to each I believe...

5. Phazar and Zip Gun start out with *bugged* ammo that cannot be unloaded, and you cannot reload them until the ammo they came with is completely gone.

6. When hacking the emperor computer, the "copy virtibird plans" option doesnt copy.

7. Ton of bugs associated with fighting the Dragon and Lo Pan.

8. When the "Car out of power" location spawns on towns, it often makes your car dissapear.

9. Skynet/Brainbot attacks you if you fail a steal check while he/she is in your party.

10. Your NPCs randomly reset their combat settings.

11. Sometimes when fighting an encounter like "Unity Patrol fighting Rogues", the bad team dies, then the neutral/good team starts attacking you for no reason.

12. Your npcs will other non-hostile npcs in combat. Happens often with slaves, when they are not hostile to you in stables/random encounters.

13. The Chop Shop dudes may randomly hostile you.

14. Even after EVERY hostile person in the stables is dead, you cannot free the slaves.

15. When sleeping with Mrs/Ms Bishop, your npcs may randomly dissapear. To fix this you have to sleep with one of them again, but sometimes that doesnt work.

16. After you join the NCR Rangers, and meet them in encounters, they recognize you, but revert to the same dialog "Oh, are you XXXXX? Ok um... bye!" Every time you talk to them.

17. Shouldent the Rangers be allied in combat once you join them? I find it odd that they would attack you after one of your NPCs hits them with a single bullet on accident...

I'll add more as I find more!

Thanks to Per, for his insanely detailed/helpful guide!

It goes like this: You ask Mrs. Bishop about offing the Mister, and if your traps skill is over 75% you can suggest an accident, and she'll mention the trapped safe.
The conversation option doesn't appear for me, even though my char (who's a female - nice Lesbian sex with the Bishop lady :)) has INT 8, CHA 6, Speech 100% and Traps 91%. I've also disarmed the trap - so does it means I have to kill everyone in the building to assassinate Mr. Bishop?

Does that have anything to do with me having Vic (who substitutes for my repair skill) in my party?

Here's how the conversation should go in bed:

1 - Tell me about your husband.
1 - I really want to know. Tell me about him.
1 - Surely you two must still love each other, if even a little.
1 - Other pursuits?
3 - Want me to kill him?
1 - But what if people didn't know it was me?
1 - I don't know, maybe a trap? Or something that looks like an accident?

Also note that the trap is rearmed when the map is reloaded. Just visit the casino basement and go back upstairs to make it happen.

talking about traps. there was a bug with Floyd right ? he could show you the way to the stash at the graveyard(forgot the name) and then let him free. But he seems to always to attack you.

Is that supposed to happen. I mean he should be thankful that you let him free from that trapped place, and to add he is so weak. If he was somewhat stronger i could imagen he would kill you for the treasure. But in his state... nah JUST FLEE FLOYD

Delete Patch0000, installed patch, played. Not hard to do really...

You get a quest to kill him from the salvatore boss. He serves no other purpose, so im pretty sure that you cant let him escape.

I think you should install seraps patch after deleting patch000. then you can install the correct killaps patch

Hey,

I have been real busy with my classes, so if someone can confirm the issues that Nuka-Cola Dude mentioned, I would really appreciated it and I can fix them faster.

Thanks!
