Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I thought Assassin's Creed 3 was super boring. Played it for a few hours but it just couldn't get me at all. Was walking from checkpoint to checkpoint with some cutscenes every once in a while until I just couldn't stand it anymore.

I actually liked Assassin's Creed 2 and thought the original idea was boring but had potential (haven't played Revelations and 3 yet, though I'm not expecting much from them), but man, seeing how the series has become now is kind of sad. This game could be fun, but it will probably suffer from Ubisoft's "we don't need strong design when we can just throw more people and more bullet points at it!" philosophy.

Here's to hoping that eventually the series gets rebooted or that we get a "spiritual successor" that capitalizes on the original's ideas.

The first 6 hours of AssCreed 3 are a tutorial where you don't even get to play as the huge Native American guy they show on the trailer and the boxart. And I tought the Hour Long forced tutorial fo the first game was awful.

Any of you guys manged to beat a legendary ship yet?

I cant do it... One sinlge broadside always sinks me :( sooo sad.

and no money for upgrades.

I actually quite liked Assassin's Creed 1. It introduced all the concepts, had a less overblown story, and very good setpieces for every villain which *GEE WHIZ* actually made you want to ASSASINATE them!

To be fair, every ship in Black Flag does that.

Meh, it's a part of gameplay that makes the game fun. You don't play Assassin's Creed for an in-depth sailing simulation, do you? It's like complaining the guns in Fallout aren't 100% realistically used (firing a minigun from the hip? an anti-materiel rifle while backtracking?). It's not really important.

I don't have the game myself, but a few of my console-wielding friends tell me it's pretty damn good, best game in the series since 2, and no they're not CoD addled dudebros. Might take a long at it if it goes on special for christmas on Steam, but at the moment I have enough games to play and I don't want to pay 60$ for a PC title.
