Baldurs Gate 3, Atom RPG, or Wasteland 3

Gnarle

First time out of the vault
Thinking about these three games, but don't like spending money. What does a person who visits nma-fallout.com think I should play?

BG3 is still in beta, personally I am holding off until it's launched for real. Atom is okay, it fills the need for a FO-like, but it's not at all memorable. Wasteland 3 is (opposed to WL2) a great game — out of the three, I'd go for that one.

It depends on your preferences, without knowing those it's hard to suggest one.

Baldur's Gate 3 is not fully released (if I remember correctly), it's also the only fantasy genre on the list. So if you prefer playing complete games or non-fantasy genre, I would pick one of the other games.

ATOM RPG is reminiscent of classic Fallout games but does its own thing too. It's more unpolished because it's an indie title and it also has a little of the famous "euro-jank" in it. It's a great game for the price.

Wasteland 3, it's more polished but also a more tactical RPG than ATOM. Although, even being more tactical, it is still a nice cRPG. So if you prefer tactical, this one is definitely what I would suggest.

ATOM is definitely the cheapest out of them, even with Trudograd.

Really great game with loads of content.
Trudograd is basically ATOM 1.5 with a lot of stuff improved.

Atom for sure just because you don't want to spend money. It's the only new-age post-apocalyptic cRPG I've yet to try though.

Wasteland 3 is surprisingly good but the DLCs have mixed reviews so I've held off on trying those out.

I would not buy Baldur's Gate 3 unless cash is burning a hole in your pocket. It's full priced and it's not even finished. The problem I have with that, is that this is Larian Studios. They made the biggest names out of themselves of anyone else during the cRPG revival boom and they got the license to work on the game that Obsidian wanted to make (Pillars of Eternity AFAIK is just Baldur's Gate legally distinct but the first one is very bloated with text). They're asking you for a full price while they work on their game? C'mon. I'm sure it's safer to spend that 60 bucks on BG3 than it would be to spend 30 on a game that would come to be something like Underrail but it feels wrong to me. They're too big to be doing that. I'll consider buying it when it's done.
