Stephen "SNorth" North, whom you might remember as a writer for a large Fallout mod Mutants Rising, and a forum member of ours, has been fortunate (and obstinate) enough to publish a post-apocalyptic novel. For the cover and the blurb:<blockquote><center>
</center>
Sergeant Alexander Cray built his life around a code that set limits to what he would and would not do. This code provided a framework that gave value to a promise or meaning to a commitment. Of course, sometimes people don't hold up their end of the deal or something else intervenes. Sometimes forgiveness comes far too late...

Is MacDill Air Force Base near Tampa really just a glowing crater? Rumours claim the whole earth is under siege. Is it an alien invasion or terrorist attacks? All that is sure is that Tampa, Florida is quarantined and Cray's Military Police unit is called up for the crisis. Follow him on a patrol that begins with a deadly encounter at an interstate truck stop to a trek across a panic-stricken, lawless metropolis.</blockquote>So, will you peer beneath the mask for $15.99? Congratulations SNorth, and I'm waiting for the reviews!

Thanks Wild_qwerty!

He is also the lead writer for a computer game called Mutants Rising.

Uhm. Mutants Rising is not a computer game, it's a total conversion mod.

I'll still order this, though. Prolly.

Jesus Christ, Kharn, I though I had written that in the first moment, (it's late and I'm outta coffee), don't do that! :D

Also, I guess "game" sounds more cool. And tangible.

Dude, that's like saying "he's totally a big fan!" in the about the author section. Though they do that, at times.

Would've ordered this right now despite the monstrous shipping costs, but dumbass site only has credit card, no paypal. Dumbasses.

Meh. Actually, I prefer CC over PP. PP still sucks in Poland. Even if I have to ask Pa to buy stuff for me from The Foreign Shores

I would have called MR a total conversion mod, but decided it would just confuse people. It was a shameless attempt to garner some attention for Fallout and the mod, however.

The book will be available through Amazon, Borders and Target within a week or so. Not sure if they take PayPal.

Online or in stores (or both)? And please say it will be in the States.

Good God...

To think that not only do we have another published author here at NMA, but that someone who obviously has some talent and lots of time to write is also bothering to write the story for a Fallout Mod.

I swear I feel more and more inspired each time I here about what Fallout fans do whether related to the game or not.

I'll get this book if only to brag that I belong to a fandom with such hardworking and dedicated individuals.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

P.S.

Theyre better be a reference to me in there...

from the sample text on the site, it reads like a novel written entirely in MU* style emotes.
/me saw a pencil fall to the floor.
/me was startled.
/me walked over and picked it up.
They assaulted and gang raped a chicken.
/me cried.

it's like a pronoun begins every sentance... except when it's not a sentance but a sentance fragment. seriously, kind of dull if you ask me. like a child becoming aware that they can form sentances. but i'm drinking and full of all kinds of unfathomable anger. Of course, you don't have to take my word for it! lol

As a former colleague of the author, I can only recommend his work(s). It might sound strange when reading a piece of his writings, but this man knows his way with words.

Too bad I'm not in Florida right now, we could open a bottle of champagne.

I could answer this with, "It's my first novel and I really struggled trying to decide which one page portion to post," but that is just making an excuse. You may have a point there. I gathered a diverse group of people to read it before it went to press, but it's possible that they were too kind. Anyway, you don't embark on something like this without developing a thick skin. I appreciate your comments, good or bad.

Signeon, so far it is only available online, but there is a possibility of getting into Wal-Mart. Those companies I mentioned only carry it online for now.

CONGRATS!

SNorth, so nice to see you published something man! I haven't kept in touch much, but congratulations man you deseve it. :-)

I wasn't.

And that is part of your charm. After all, it is a cold, bitter wind that blows across the steppes, and...(maybe I better stop now).

Hurrah, buy Snorth's book! buy it! buy it! Sadly, I can't afford one myself (I costs a heckload of money to ship it to Norway), but some day I will, and then Snorth's book will be in my hands

Me no like you...
Me think you dumbass...
Me think you not capable of understanding typed word anyway...

Praise the fact that someone was able to finish a project instead of stating some useless dribble about how it is written in a form you don't like, especially when all you have seen all of two paragraphs.
