I look at movies and comics like The Iron Giant, Mad Max, Children of Men, The Hills Have Eyes, Sky Captain, Metropolis, and Tank Girl (the Jamie Hewlett comic not the terrible movie).

Wait.. What?!

Fallout 3 is a survival/horror game, right? Haha.

I hope this Kathode guy doesn't just post once and disappear into the ether. That's getting annoying.

Yay, another producer!

The clever illusion is being kept up that this game for some reason needs more producers than Lord of the Rings (12). Makes sense, doesn't it?

Oh wait no it doesn't :aiee:

Hello Brother None,

Aren't game producers similar to Hollywood producers?

They take credit for other people's ideas, get paid a lot for it, and in reality don't perform much?

Perhaps all these producers are an attempt to shift the blame away from Todd Howard.
Well it ain't gonna work! I still blame Todd Howard! Especially since his is the only producer name I consistently remember.

Yes, but even less so. The gaming industry has a lot of illusions of grandeur (take a look at the laughably ludicrous LotR-rip off that is the intro of Oblivion, it becomes especially hilarious at roughly the 40th second). It really needs to realize it's not the same worth or quality as the movie industry, and has a different production process and marketing values. Right now we see a lot of uninspired copying.

And sadly, as little as a lot of producers do in movies, I'd guess that on average they're probably more vital for the movie's design process than for games. It's just a stab in the dark, tho'. I know what movie producers do, roughly, but I have no idea what game producers do. It probably contains the same kind of "killing creativity in the design process" as the movie-making process includes, but other than that, your guess is as good as mine.

What? You fanboy, that's not the eye of Sauron! It's totally original!
Cause.. erm.. it is! How can you accuse Bethesda of being creatively bankrupt. They're giving us nukular catapults and drinkable 200 year old toilet water! :drunk:
