You got banned because you are an idiot.
Ah, so about 95% of the posters I noticed when I visited SA yesterday will be banned by now, then. I mean, you wouldn't be lying to us, would you?

Your response was to quote his post and say that you are from NMA but don't see why you would be banned. That was a bad time to speak up and here we are.
You admit Pope's banning was arbitrary and yet you vigorously defend it. That's nice.
As for Kharn having no right to accurately quote from a public forum, that's a no-brainer. If a dev is slagging his fans (or fans-to-be) on a public forum it is, by definition, fan interaction. The notion that he can say whatever he wants and force everyone to pretend it didn't happen is even more ludicrous if you consider the fact that Hayt
addressed the people he was labelling as troublemakers and nerds.
Having said that, I don't think his post was much to get worked up about (though relevant enough to post as news under the circumstances). Some people here have mentioned an apology, which is nonsense. If the people at Bethesda can give as good as they get it's not a bad sign, and if anyone takes offence at being called a nerd it's bloody well their own fault. The bans at SA is a different evolutionary leap of stupidity altogether, but from what I know Hayt had nothing to do with that, unless you count having that stupid disclaimer in the first place.
One of the reasons why people are upset is that coming at this critical point, and in light of other statements from Bethesda, Hayt's post could easily be construed as a deliberate move to write off the core fandom (the ones with acrid voices, time-honed opinions and specific knowledge) in favour of the drooling automatons like the ones that populate SA, which are so much more pleasing on the ear. Paranoid? Of course, but the default state of mind in the community isn't paranoia simply for the love of bitching; there are reasons.
As for Hayt's career, until he gives us a share of his pay it's his own to look after and not ours. Although I expect people at Bethesda would laugh their asses off at the notion that his job would be in jeopardy for stirring up the Fallout community. I foresee good relations down the road... unless, of course, we get Morrowind with guns, in which case it's heads-on-a-pike time.
