Bethesda teases Fallout 4 announcement

Aren't they tired of teasing about Fallout, while they still have to make a single one, since 2003 ?
Also they confirm taking no inspiration from TW3 by announcing so early...

I sure hope they'll create a fully fledged faction of the Tunnel Snakes. That would be sooo awesome. Like the bandit gang The Khans who you encounter in Fallout 1 are a fully fledged faction when you encounter them in New Vegas.

Edit: I'm not joking about this, having the Tunnel Snakes as a faction (maybe the main enemy?) in Fallout 4 would be the only self-conscious thing Bethesda could do.

Give us the Tunnel Snakes!!!!

I'm always excited for another Fallout game but obviously still a bit scared of what Bethesda might do... perhaps they come up with a Behemoth Deathclaw or something......
Well, at least on this site there are no weirdo's who've never played Fallout 1, 2 or Tactics and only whine about 'We Want Fallout 4!!!!' and think Fallout 3 is the best game ever but hate on New Vegas.

Don't forget that utterly meaningless "war never changes" bullshit. Taking bets on how soon that pops up in the teaser with Ron Perlman. It was so satisfying when Lonesome Road bucked that silly line in its ending narrative.

There was a time when I would have been excited by this press release, but now I'm just weary. This'll be Fallout-like-world-in-the-Skyrim-engine, right? I can't get interested. How did I get so cynical? Oh, right.
Let's hope we'll get a new Fallout game from Obsidian then two or so years later.
I'm not sure I'm even excited about this any more. Obsidian writes well, but their games aren't big on replay value because a) the deep conversation trees are only really fun the first time through, and b) they don't add anything to the core gameplay, so you were bored with the combat before you first launched the game, and c) incomplete, buggy quests. They're getting a handle on c but they need to work on a and b some more IMO.

Well... it wouldn't be more stupid than a town harassed by a guy dressed up like a robot and woman dressed like a giant ant who controls insects.

By the year of 2300 the Tunnel Snakes have become a major force and rule all of the wasteland east of the rocky mountains. However they wanna rule all of America and crosses the rocky mountains to fight it out with NCR. War never changes.

Is that a joke or something? Obsidian expanded *a lot* on the core gameplay of Fallout 3. Besides this, their games aren't as buggy anymore as they had been. Also, other game companies release buggy games too- but the difference is that Obsidian makes complex games.

Failout 3 starts in 2258, a long time would have to pass for Tunnel Snakes to form a strong group that would be a considerate faction in the DC area, let alone Boston, so F4 would have to be set deep in the future (for comparison: NV is set in 2281). Besides, let's be honest - Butch is no leader capable of forming gang this huge. If F4 took place in DC, Tunnel Snakes could have been a minor faction, but nothing more.

Of course, Bethesda doesn't give a fuck and is known for raping logic and the lore, so Tunnel Snakes as a main enemy in F4 is not off the table.

Yup. That line was only really good at the first Fallout because the rest of the introduction was in coherence with it and actually made it feel like it meant something.

I don't have any expectations of this announcement, Fallout or not. I do wonder however which current day popular actor they spend most of the voice budget on to do a few sentences.

Pretty sure that if it is Fallout 4 we will get a new influx of posters who tell us old school fans how we live in the past and how we should get with the times.
Now what would be funny is if Bethesda's new Fallout now insults both classic Fallout fans and Fallout 3 fans.

I look forward to this game. Not because it will be good. It won't be. But I look forward to how bad it will be.

On a more serious note, I wonder if they'll have made ANY improvements on the game engine. My guess is it will be Skyrim with guns, but you never know.

Probably better environmental lightning and higher poly models.

/Edit: Hope it will touch the west-coast lore as little as possible or not at all. The worst outcome would be stuff like NCR or Legion at the east coast and even more BoS and Enclave...

/Edit²: Now that I think about it, Boston actually would be a really good location. It's so, so far away from anything west-coast.

Don't mind me, just thinking aloud:

This could be the first unique Fallout game out of the Bethesda camp. If it is in fact based on the East coast and wanders up towards Boston, there's the possibility of them diverging from FO3 (FO1 & FO2-based lore) and striking out on a brand new trajectory. Sure there are likely to be a slew of tropes that BGS likes to dial in on but wrapped in new factions and storytelling opportunities.

...also, what if this is a MMOG?

Either of these is an good joke. Bethesda being original or Bethesda making a Fallout MMO.

If Fallout is TES w/ guns we should be expecting them to tread on the same MMOG territory they did with ESO - SOON...
