Better than us

aaah so thats where the bomb shelter pic came from...

sjeez, i've known it the comic for a while (sadly doesnt get updated much), but never made the link to the greeny in the cardboard box. stupid me :s

Aah, at last a new episode of GWB.

btw. I think you have Kimmo's surname misspelled. Its Lemetti not Lenarti.

Supposedly Kimmo's going to be updating GWB once a week for the next two months.

I'll believe that when I see it.

He can take as long as he wants considering both the superb and unique quality of his art and humor.

Ya know does he check this forum? I sent him an email a month ago asking him to give permission to have one of his art peices added to the fanart. Its possibly the best picture of a deathclaw I've ever seen. Unfortunately he never responded to the email so I wont post it without his permission.

Here's a link:

looks like satyr meets deathclaw to me. but tbh, the deathclaw is one of those animals/characters that open to personal interpretation.

ingame it doesnt give much detail, the original fallout art is not entirely correct & the statue at interplay was different as well. basically everyone gets to make their own deathclaw in their head & thats a good thing i guess.

*bitch-slap*

No, it isn't.

then please enlighten me ^^

because the concept art was different from the ingame art which was again different from the ingame char model. (not to mention the statue)

Though I find the deathclaw in game to be a simple large reptile that's bipedal I think they look more appropriate by discription in the artists rendition. Why? Note the thick hair on the arms and back...makes it look like a mix of creatures which is what I thought of it as after reading where it came from.

It really is hard to define...so many games make scary monsters by taking animal parts and throwing them together with the explanation that it had grafted limbs whereas the deathclaw indeed looked very cohesive and real. Though considering its genetic lineage I find that hard to believe.

Hurray for constructive discussion!

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

yeah, i prefer to think of it as an reptile (with no hair unlike some prefer), with twisted horns, big claws & so on.

i dont like my reptiles furry, thank you velly much.

but i'm not about to proclaim that my vision is the correct one.

I personally see the differences in art as a progression in how the Deathclaw is to be drawn. With the Deathclaw in the game being the final result, and the most impressive one in my opinion.

Ingame deathclaw leaves enough to the imagination for it to be the scariest thing ever, basically.

Frith, those things were scary in Fallout 1.

Hmm... anyone remember the Deathclaw Physiology thread?

Regardless of questions about the how and why of Deathclaws, I believe we can agree that furry Deathclaws are a perversion of the setting introduced with Tactics. A misinterpretation, and something that should not take precedence the original vision of the Deathclaw.

It looks as they were originally going to look, only in the end they removed the furs for FO, and now i can only see them that way, they look odd whenever i see the furry version (no pun intended :? )

Fallout 1 had a lot of dumbass ideas "originally". Good thing they were dropped.

I very much like the original model, on which the in-game one was probably based:

Funny thing is, the deathclaw in the Fallout manual is very different from the above one and the in-game one:

Like those talking raccoons... But it also had a lot of cool ideas, which were unfortunately dropped.

The real-life model is tres orc, very un-lizard.

Talking raccoons, hairy deathclaws, space rockets, plenty of dumbass ideas. Arguably even the steam trucks were thilly.
