Biggest waste of money

Some game called "Star Empire" or something. It was basically a Homeworld clone, I was bored and saw it in the store and though "what the hell how bad can it be".

Payed 45€ and "played" for about 2 hours. It was like Homeworld, except the graphic was worse, the interface and handling was the worst I ever seen and it crashed every 10 minutes.
That and the fact that I bought cossacks 2 some short time ago lead me to my current act of handling things: borrow/pirate first, if fun=true, buy

For me, A game called Dead Reefs, it's an adventure/mystery game by the appropriately named 'Adventure Company'. However despite the fact that the game is fairly new, they decided to forego the usage of a mouse for slipshod keyboard controls, thus making the game completely useless.

I mean how much math does it take to understand that 45 degree angle turns do not make it easy to go down a 20 degree path!

*sigh*

Gotta hate the games that screw up the controls. I'm still pissed about DMC3 for PC.

With all honesty though, The Adventure company released a lot of good games.

Either Doom 3 (not even half way though and will never finish) or it's expansion (which I've never even touched). Though Far Cry, the first not the second (Far Cry 2 just misses out going into my all time favourite list) is a contender as well. I might of bought it on budget for £5.99 but it's till a waste of money.

A couple:

- Assassin's Creed
- Dead Space
- Farcry 2
- Fallout 3

These games are complete and utter failures at entertainment. Shiny graphics are killing the gaming industry, man.

Star Wars: Rebellion (that crappy turn based strategy one) was the last one I can think of.

i agree with you completely but Assassin's Creed had good graphics, especially if you played the DX 10 version on pc.

Ill just have to say farcry 2, even when its been mentioned several times.... I had more fun with timeshift and that was very mediocre fps...

I just cant bring myself to finish it, and i paid 70 damn euros for it. I have never paid so much for a game, so i have tried to force myself to finish it, but no, i cant do it.

Its not the worst game i have played, not even close, and i guess i can somehow understand if somebody enjoys it, i just fell for the hype and felt i was fooled.

Dammit!

Oh yeah ( just remembered) i have one very bad experience from the past about switching games with my friend. I gave him my wipeout for bubsy 3d which is considered one of the worst 3d games ever made. That would propably take the cake.

Really? I enjoyed Far Cry quite a bit. I thought it was a lot better than FC2.

Halo 1 & 2

You must have some high standards, Halo is awesome!

Heh, complaining about shiny gfx. At least they had them. Some games have neither good gfx nor anything else. And also, FO3 graphics is not shiny at all; it's... i dunno, chunky?

I have to completely agree with Pope Viper - Halo series is a complete waste. Although, admittedly, Halo 1 was an average game and not as much of a failure as the rest of the series. They're just milking the money now, based on the fact that a lot of console players don't know better.

Actually it's more that co-op Halo is surprisingly fun and the multiplayer is fun as well in a fairly hectic sorta way.
Playing Halo games single player though is very boring.

One of the newer Settlers games (heritage of kings I think) comes to mind on wasted monies. Played it for a few days and suddenly it got very reptative.

The only good FPS coop I've ever done was Serious Sam.

Halo multiplayer is decent but inferior to other FPS titles.

I'm a mostly PC player and I love Halo, including its single player. If you don't like it then it's definitely a waste of money but I'm not into it because I don't know any better. I will agree that the horrible PC port of Halo 2 would probably be the biggest waste of money for anyone.

I never got why Halo was such a big success. It basically made everything that people knew from Quake 2 into a simpler, shitty mess. I guess most of the success comes from the fact it was bundled with the Ecksbocks.

Well, Halo one was amusing is finding a middle ground between Quake and HL (multiplayer-wise).

But yes, I suppose the XBOX marketing is pretty much what made it famous. Although, I STILL cannot understand how people manage to play shooters on a console.

I am not going to say that Halo (the first one, never played the others) was a bad game, as a sci-fi ish shooter I thought it was fun to play, just nothing special like the Xbox people make it out to be.

So what did they screw up with Halo 2 on the PC next to force Vista on people?
