C&C is died?

Oh, cut the crap about EA killing the franchise. EA is getting a lot of undeserved flak.

First of all, EA did not buy out Westwood. Westwood was not a publicly traded company, so what happened was that Westwood got an offer and willfully accepted it. Westwood, not EA, killed itself.

Second, the problem lies with the new execs, not the company itself. EA was going in a good direction and the new C&C was looking decent (though I did not enjoy its gameplay nearly as much as in previous games). What killed are the top level executives that want slam dunk sequels and a safe cash flow.

Blaming everything on EA is stupid. It isn't a power hungry monster just waiting to devour your favourite franchises.

I totally agree with "EA is over blamed".
but there's old saying in China "three men's gosship makes a tiger".
since most of people blaming EA for that, I though it was totally problem from EA this time.

Wasn't much left to kill... It's gone steeply downhill ever since Red Alert 1.

its pretty obvious, at least for C&C fans that the game has become a hollow shell already a long time ago. Thats what happens when you replace the & in C&C with $, C$C

Yeah, Tiberian Sun was terrible.

I still remeber the commercials.. The "this will be the best game EVER!" in PC Gamer.. And when my friend bought the game we played it for like 2 weeks before putting it on the shelf.. I think that was my first let down in game history and it was a huge one

RA 2 and Generals are awesome tho but everything after that.. I won't even touch it with a missile.

In fact, I like Tiberian Sun and I do replay it every once in a while. :>

Tiberian Sun had James Earl 'Fuckin'' Jones AND Michael 'Fucking' Biehn in it. Therefore it was and is awesome.

Got that right!

I did like tiberian sun, and Red Alert 2, the first Generals wasn't bad either, but it really went downhill from there on in.

I always loved the cutscenes on all the games briefing you on your missions XD

I was being sarcastic.

I love Tiberian Sun. Anton (more like Awesometon) Slavik is one of my favourite characters in gaming.

I guess I'm the only one who liked C&C 3 the most. But that may be because I played 1, 2 and 3 back-to-back about 2 year ago so I had no nostalgia. Or maybe my RTS standards are too influenced by Relic games. Eh.

Tiberian Sun is freaking awesome.

I also really liked Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath, but never finished the latter.

Twilight was kinda shit, though. Who's to blame for that?

As for this new game, Generals 2 or whatever, it's sad, really. I wasn't looking forward to that game, in all honesty, since I didn't care much at that point, but it's still sad. It might've been a good RTS.

It's not bad but I find units dying so quick means mass swarms of units tend to work over tactics. That and everything is so dusty I keep loosing GDI infantry.
Kane's Wrath bringing back GDI walkers and Nod militia wearing that badass armour again fixed my two big complaints though. :V

Shame this was cancelled as it wasn't looking too bad in a Generals 2 kind of way. Having the EU instead of the US as the Western army choice was a rather surprising decision that made it stand out a bit.

I still don't understand why Dark Reign 1 never received the praise that C&C did.
DR1 has features far beyond C&C and often beyond what RTS games have today.

But I guess that's a bit off topic.

I remeber back in the days when i was torn between C&C and games like KKND and even Dark Colony.. Alltho DC had pretty much the same units on both teams wich is not something great.

Lies! They could see eeeever so slightly farther than the other species in different light conditions.
Okay maybe so but I still install that game for the cinematics and cool unit designs. :V

Dark Reign 2 sorta fizzled out the DK franchise, not sure how as it was well reviewed. Never tried it as I brought Dogs of War instead, though the lack of bright, vibrant and detailed graphics of the first one being replaced by bland 3d and fog probably didn't help.

I lost interest in the whole franchise after Red Alert 2 and then Generals. It simply didn't hit my taste at all. I didn't played any new C&C game after these.

The good old days

C&C will never die, not as long as I have my copy of Command & Conquer The First Decade - all the best games in one installer.

I was playing RA2 just yesterday, and still love it. A reminder of the games greatness -

I wouldn't care if they never made another game in the series, I'll never stop playing the golden oldies.
