Chinese farmer makes robots

Wu Yulu, a Chinese farmer with no real education, is obsessed with making robots. Walking robots in particular. Most of his ideas seem somewhat amateurish, but the electromagnetic robot you see at 0:40 is pretty fucking impressive to say the least.

Awesome, no? :D

That spider-robot thing he's riding at the end of the first video is hella stylish. It looks like it's been ripped right out of some steampunk universe.

I want one.

Those sounds alone are pretty bitchen'. Films have to work at making noise like that.

Indeed the spider robot vehicle was impressive.

That is an amazing feet for a man in a Chinese village.

His sons must be dicks if his robots are easier to love.

You know, if I could clear the gunk out of there, you, just might find a tear in Old McRae's eye.

A well, a comment written under the first youtube vid pretty much summarizes it all:

"wow, too bad he didn get the right education. he would at least have become a great ingineer" [sic]

Ya know. This kinda stuff makes me all ambitious. I feel like building something although it will not be nearly this good nor cool. Then again, he's done it so what could I do.
Awesome stuff.

I love this. Shows you that if you spend the time and money you can do anything. No education or fame required. Well technically he's self-educated, but that's different.

 Freakin' amazing! I'll be lucky if I could make a robot paper model.

Would be awesome if he goes into town riding the spider one and all the rest following. That would be quite the spectacle. 8-)

Old news, they have been reporting about him for a while.

lol, and a lot of comments reflect the lack of understanding of Chinese culture.

If he had received an education? He probably wouldn't have built robots.

It would have stifled his creativity for sure to put his efforts into company directives.

That magneto-bot is so awesome!!! I wish I could have an army of those^^

The sadness you feel for this man should be the sadness you feel for the whole human race.

Huh? Wtf? The guy is a freaking PEASANT and he is making ROBOTS (no matter how simple they are) with no education in either cybernetics or robotics/computers. And you decide to pity him??

Go make a robot asshole and then post shit about other peoples achievements.

Wow. You are a particularly stupid forum member, huh? Mechanical automatons aren't robots in my book. His mechanical prowess is that of a peasant who's repaired farm equipment his whole life. His creativity is more impressive than his knowledge. Cybernetics?!? We feel sad for him because we know under different circumstances his creativity might have made the Honda robot even better, or whatever. My point was that his potential is wasted by his circumstances, an analogy for the whole human race which has potential beyond it's achievements and it's present condition far from facilitating an egalitarian utopia of the awesome.

TIP: Anger is not an appropriate response for misunderstanding.
