Well I gues that speaks for it self. It was a some awesome time since 90s the first time we had to flee from Tiberium, hunting down Kain or killing GDI generals ! Thx Westwood (not EA!) for such a wonderfull time even with the RED ALERT champaign which was also very fun

Its sad though to see what EA made out of the series over the time in favour for money and not fun or great experience.

But letz hope you can find now some rest.

Though to be more serious, is the gameplay really that bad ? Or just the usual "we give this game only 1 Star cause of shit copy protection!" thing ?

That's not a valid complaint?

For all it's worth, if I wanted to play the game, I probably wouldn't be able to cause my internet connection here sucks.

I was about to cp my post from ToE to here as an aswer Crni. Bad Crni :).

To make long story short, they basically took CnC3, made a mod by removing the base building, removing economy, removing the tiberium and removing the command interface and some of the second tier commands (like patrol, wayponits, defend area) And sold that mod as a stand alone game.

I like real time tactical games (commandos, desperados, world in conflict, myth, ground control) but this game has none of the genre's strenghts like persistent (experience gaining and becoming badass) units, persistent tech and equipment progression, a well defined mission structure or story.

It seems like a cheap rip from EA:LA to express their hate for being canned as a studio instead of a new game.

of course it is, but it doesnt tell anything about the quality of the gameplay or the story. A game can have a shit copy protection but still be awesomly fun to play.

Though from what I can read in German reviews and see from gameplay videos on youtube it seems with CC4 EA also managed to fuck up that part pretty well particularly since CC4 has no conection with the Scrin and almost no conection with the Tiberium neither storywise nor with gameplay which was at least in all previous CC titles one of the most important parts in the story and gameplay I mean by the timeline CC4 plays in almost the whole world should be covered by the Tiberium and it should be a huge preasure for humanity.

Many people complain that the story of CC4 doesnt really answer any question from the previous title which introduced the Scrin as alien-faction somehow.

CnC was always a fun game with a silly, but enjoyable plot. That is until they started that Firestorm stuff. =/

But yeah, goodnight sweet prince.

I'm surprised C&C lasted this long. I've been a fan of the first C&C and still remember drawing maps and making tactics in my notebook during classes. Red Alert was great, I even liked the sequel.

I know this is a C&C thread, but has anyone played Krush Kill 'n Destroy?

I played it a little back in '97. As I recall it was a fairly standard C&C clone with some cool units (mammoths with mounted turrets FTW) and an unbelievably retarded name.

So, I guess I shouldn't get C&C 4, huh?

C&C died once EA got involved.

@Ratty: It was a really tough game compared to C&C and had some pretty nice graphics too.

Post apocalyptic strategy game with a cool intro... I wonder if it has been mentioned here before?

If you call keeping a rotten corpse alive as undead "living". Then yeah. It went pretty "long". But as some already said. C&C died the moment EA took over. For most old fans anyway.

I am just glad its over now. For good. I think they said CC4 is the last game.

I was ranked 70th in the world once at Red Alert (GenTDuke). I really love the series, but EA ruined it years ago. The only time I hear about this kind of necrophilia is when nothing is going on in the modding forum and I am bored. Mental note: never leave the modding forum, it's to painful.

Wow, haven't seen this amount of useless bitching in a long time.

I like C&C4. The gameplay's solid and different for once (tactics actually matter this time, rather than speed at which you can rush the enemy), the counter system is good and even the art direction is decent (the only issue is scale).

People who praise Westwood forget how unfinished and unpolished Tiberian Sun was and what a drastic change from RA/TD the cutscenes were. EALA did a solid job on all three C&C games.

how comes CC4 gets so much negative reaction from CC fans then ?

Because C&C fans are whining even more than Fallout fans.

C&C3: "WAHHH EA SUX BRING WW BACK"
KW: "WAHHH C&C3 GOOD KW BAD BRING WW BACK"
TT: "WAHHH C&C3 GRAET KW BEST GAEM EVAR EA SUX"

I've watched the official forums for a long time. This is exactly how it went.

On another note, the more I think about the Tiberian Twilight story, the more I like it. It ties in neatly with previous titles and answers a lot of questions, IF you pay attention and know the previous titles by heart.

C&C:RA 3 is a good game, really. I always wanted to play it online, but by some factors I couldn't, but the single player game was fairly enjoyable. It's as good as RA 1 or 2, which I played excessively (and I don't regret haha).

But I never really played much of C&C (not red alert). I never had any kind of sympathy for the plot.

how dare you to post here without devotion in our great leader !

Actually I liked EA's C&C 3. It still had the basic mechanics of the first two. Didn't like the Scrin much, but overall it was C&C. TT is a departure, more like DOW2. Non necessarily a bad game, but a game that shouldn't have been a C&C game as the mechanics are totally different.

The same thing has just been done with Splinter Cell Conviction. They just made it into a series of open areas with 6-10 goons in each linked by a corridor in a copy of Max Payne! 95% of the game doesn't have any security systems to bypass and the one level where they couldn't write out cameras, they instead made them shine a big white light so that the player would know exactly where they were aiming and they didn't even cover the entire room, making it easy to walk by the cameras without even taking any evasive action. Oh I forgot there are guards that conveniently walk in the blind spots of the cameras too so you can shoot them without repercussions. They also gave you unlimited ammo and a ridiculous achievements system which lets you upgrade your weapons mid mission.

Nothing is sacred anymore, all the old franchises are stripped of their charm and homogenised into a product designed to appeal to lowest common denominator.
