Companion romance

Bioware makes dating sims. They've only ever made dating sims, it's just that the "dating sim" aspects of KOTOR were downplayed a little more and so we didn't notice this until FOX News started screaming about "full frontal nudity" in Mass Erect.

Agree, it's sad that gaming avoid to write a lot subjects. It will not improve if the writers dodge questions, then Bethesda writers step in.

It's funny how people think that Fallout 3 was deep and touched a lot of subjects. Like what? That it's impossible to make a sensible world? Tick!

Someone will definitely mod it in.

But Beth isn't particularly brave.

No open same-sex relationships in Fallout 3, so bestiality is probably a bit too far for them.

Remember, the majority of Skyrim's mods were sex based. Can't wait for what perverted extravaganza that will be modded into Fallout 4.

I mean, even Bioware wouldn't let you romance Legion.

As far as I know the main problem was that they could not get enough lube.

However on a more serious note, they did at least offered Joker and EDI to show that Human-AI romance was a possibilty. That's as concept really intriguing opening new oportunities.

Yay for more romance options! Bah who needs them. There's real life you know.

Really mix up of priorities where the only thing you are thinking of when coming up with new species is how you can let players fuck them rather than exploring any other topic that would come up with the cultural, psichological and philosophical clashes and how it would affect each species concept of self. Neh, that's stupid shit, let's make a romance story about a guy fucking a Anemone woman.

There's no depth just straight out sex. It's sad.

Maybe they'll have a character like Mjoll the Lioness with her little bitch Aerin that follows her EVERYWHERE.
I'm waiting to see how marriage works:
"Can you retrieve my bag located in Deathclaw Valley?"
*Returns with bag*
"What the hell was so important about the contents of this bag?"
"It was my sugar bomb collection now how about marriage then some sex?"

LOL, Aerin was soo cuckold it was funny too hear you could actually marry Mjoll. The dude probably died inside.

I agree, she even gets pissed off and/or upset if you either assassinate him or somebody else kills him.

This touches on my main problem with romancing abilities in games. It usually ends up sacrificing the development of the NPC by making them accessible to a huge spectrum of players... for example, you can usually be a total psychotic asshole and still 'romance' the nicest, most gentle type of NPC as long as you choose the right "flirt" options or give the right "gifts". Its really jarring.

Anyways, I'd be really suprised if they go the full Bioware route because that would take 10x more content for companions than Bethesda is used to. I dont think they have any in-house games where followers are anything more than glorified storage chests.

It's funny because every Bioware fandom I've ever seen (on forums, on Tumblr, on facebook...) has been almost entirely focused on the romance content and nothing else. I see people talking about the virtual human they fucked 10x more often than any other aspect of the game. Its creepy.

Romance was just a bad addition to the game. And bets are on they're gonna hande it badly.

Since they are all Bisexual, I can already get a bitter taste of poor writing that is too come.

In writing, You always want to set apart your characters. You want too make them different and allow their differences too be felt as vibrations in the story or quest. Banter between one companion too another is one way. You get a understand of their differences and their sexuality is part of their identity. By making them all black and white. You're in a sense bleaching creativity away. Trust me, Dragon Age 2 did it. Just kind of made the romances really "meh" as it felt less than if it was diverse. Thankfully Dragon Age inquisition changed that.
