Completed everything, what do I do now?

You could take some roads off the beaten path by creating unique, personal goals for each character. Most of these won't be recognized by the game, but it's fun anyways.

For example, on my last play through I role played someone whose family was royally screwed over by the NCR, specifically Kimball. Rather than scorch the embassy or wipe out Camp Golf, I played it slick by gaining NCR favor until You'll Know When it Happens. My character's story was effectively over after I blew Kimball to pieces with Annabelle - dashing off to the Mojave Outpost was just an optional epilogue.

That's a good idea, I may give it a go.

I began playing New Vegas in hardcore mode and was very pumped about it when I first began play. The air was let out of my tires when I found out that the sPecial "reward" for completing the game with it was another (basically) worthless achievement. I switched it off and haven't played it since I found that out, as I did not feel it was worth the headaches that came with it.
I think that I have decided my next playthrough I will bite the bullet and go hardcore/very hard...It does make the game more realistic

What did you think you'd get for beating the game on Hardcore mode?
Achievement, or if you play on PS3 a gold medal thing... what are they called... any way on 360 its 100g and PS3 its A gold... thing.

So you wanted the game to give you a super gift for playing the game the way it's programmed? what about the experience of playng Hardcore mode itself?

Exactly. Thanks for saving me the trouble of writing it myself.

And the PS3 has Trophies. Which are poorly implemented into the PSN in my opinion.

To be fair, that whole "special reward" thing might have been a bit confusing if you were playing with Steam offline where you can't get achievements. The guy did get the achievement though so I don't know what else he was expecting.

Ok, I really didn't expect to spark some kind of elitist arguement here but no one mentioned anything about a "super gift" or any of that so I would appreciate you not putting words in my mouth. I believe you can re-read what I said and see that I didn't know what to expect. The trophy/achievement thing doesn't mean much to me, and while hardcore does improve the feel of gameplay it would've been nice to see a little something in-game. If nothing else a "I survived hardcore mode and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" T-shirt ;)

So you want to receive a gift for playing the game the wat it was programmed? that's what you are saying. Congratulations, you beat a game the way the creators intended it to be played.

Well, many games have unlockable gimmicks after beating the game.
Silly outfits for the character are very common :D

Of course, but that's not special.
What's the point in beating a game if can't show everyone ingame that you did?

Yes, Walp...you asked that already. If that was the way they intended me to play it, why have both modes? Also, why do they recommend that you not play in hardcore mode and offer the "special reward" that Courier mentioned for finishing it? I'm not sure about the rest of you but a trophy and/or achievement (that you would get any other time for quest and challenge completion) doesn't qualifiy as special.

I'm not a troll peeps, you can relax...

And silly armor is better than none at all ;)

In relation to the hardcore mode discussion, I found the Hardcore achievement was all the reward I need.

I'd prefer an achievement over an in game prize.

I like to play good videogames, I don't need the carrot at the end of the stick.

Yeah, but here's a cool concept:

Playing a good game AND getting a reward for doing stuff in the game.

Why? You are getting entertainment and a good experience? Why get a reward for doing something like playing a game? you are not doing anything incredible, your are not helping anybody doing it. Everyone just wants a cookie for everything, like little puppies.
