Brothel/bar. Can someone read Armenian here, and confirm that the writings make sense? :D

Not actual domestic abuse.

Technobabble manifested in drawing. Just a challenge to myself to draw bunch of computy tech stuff. And people dancin swing.

Scavenging in future Ukraine. Can someone Ukrainian perhaps confirm if the sign makes sense? It is supposed to be a generic "storage"-sign.

Farming alongside cruel irony.

Walk away slowly.

All of these are "practice-runs" for me, in my preparation to begin drawing a proper project.
I've had them laying around for a long time, being out of any option to photograph or scan. Now I am able to at least snapshot and upload, which is better than nothing. I have the oportunity to share at least :D

Cool. I like your style. 'Vertical farming' and 'tornado' are the ones I like best.
What tools do you use? Looks like Artline/Staedtler pigment liners. I miss the dynamic, variable line of a classic pen nib, you should look into that. It would add another 10% of awesomeness to your drawings. If you ARE using classic pen nibs, you're doing something wrong ...

Nevertheless: :ok:

alec, I am using broke-ass equipment, including dinner plates and magazines for rulers and shit :D The pens are, as you guess, standard technical pens of different thickness. It's been years since I drew "properly", and I'm trying myself out a bit. You are right that a nib pen would give a much needed final touch to the style, and I consider myself still sorely lacking in proper tools (this whole time I lacked a strong fat liner (such as the fat side of a nib))

Thanks for the compliments, both, Moebius is truly one to look up to as a rolemodel in finesse!

Thanks! I have a second series of conceptual drawings, but I didn't include them because they are more specific, and not "full scenarios" like these. More simple ideas, objects, etc.

I'll go over and photo some later on

Classic pen nibs are cheap. I used to have a pen nib fetish, collecting and buying the rarest ones I could find, but nowadays I only use a Conté 1770 mapping pen because that's the one that I can most easily find and buy in Ghent.

Post more drawinks, zegh!

Howlin' shit, how did I miss these?
Awesome stuff zegh, I love your style. If only you had a proper scanner...

Anyway, do post more. Much moar.

Thanks everyone for flattering comments! Again, I lack a scanner, but have tried to upload a few more viewable images, most of them are crops of little collections of designs and such, many of them are more sketch-like, and not really worth uploading (I was never a fan of uploading "wip"s for the purpose of public viewing :D)

Feral piggy!
I did a few feral farm animals studies, imagining a world where most big-game, like deer and such, have gone extinct, replaced by feral farm animals.

Farm, horsie, doggie, chickenies!

House. I envisioned a small cuddly cabin, but there is often a conflict in comics and games, where things are sized "advantagely", for example - look at the size of freeways in FO3 - compared to freeways in reality. So, I wanted to draw a "tiny house" which is at the same time realistically large :0
I also drew interior maps for the house :0

A bit of human flexibility. As I was sketching, most my motifs had people posed, standing, sitting or walking. I need to also train people being mobile and flexible

Oppdal church (Oppdal, part of Southern Trøndelag, Norway), armor plated, cus, sure :0

Norwegian horse, specifically a "fjording".

25052014307_by_zegh8578-d7jpdcz.jpg

Ol gramps returning home with his kill (a feral goat), strapped onto his own devised nifty contraption. His rifle is sketched down on a separate drawing, and aims to depict a "sturdy" type of combat/hunting rifle, slightly awkward, yet effective in its use.

Protagonist looking at people and troops. I plan to let her age to about 3 million years, this including space travel, and time-travel paradoxes. She will die peacefully at age 97.

.. that wild boar seems to be happy and domesticated.
I do love your urban pieces - houses, churches, futuristic buildings; it reminds me of book illustrations from my childhood. Beautiful!

It is *not* a wild boar ;D it is a *feral pig*, the two are not the same!

In fact, feral pigs are quite interesting, since they "go wild" extremely fast, re-growing fur and tusks (as illustrated)

Thanks for the comments tho :]

Good stuff, zegh, really good stuff. You should do comics. I like Ol' gramps (especially the dogs) and Oppdal church the best. You have an eye for textures, but you need to learn how to use blacks, 'cause your drawings are lacking in those.

'A bit of flexibility' is an interesting exercise, but you've got her ass all wrong. :wiggle:

You are the second to comment on the lack of assyness in her ass! I am remembering it for next time! More ass!

You are also right about the blacks, and it was always one of my main concerns. During these drawings, I have simply avoided it in order to save my ink, but I have always been concious about the fact that ink-saving should _not_ be a worry during a proper comic book project! I am also aware that I'm gonna have to learn the blacks, since most of my practice drawings have been lacking in strong contrasts. Practice, because I've gone too long without honing my skills (fell into a ditch of apathy lasting too damn long). One of the most recognizeable features of good comic book drawing - is good, immersive depth in the scenarios, and for that, blacks and contrasts are needed. On the opposite side - the hallmarks of a nooby comic, is a bunch of confusing thin lines of a stark white background. I really want to avoid the latter
