Cowboy Bebop (2021) review

Well they delivered in a very shit way. But you can still recognize it as Star Wars, lasers, ships in space, light sabers, the force etc. I was talking on a very superficial level. What I mean, I am not going to applaud Disney that they havn't changed it in an opera with singing Robots or something.

Let us see then. We can break any film down at a paused moment in time and sit here for a while.

The actors are there, and everything about the scene, to the smallest detail is pure chance. Happenstance. Take 34. None of them are alike.

The final cut is playing dice.

The same can be said for any media or artwork, but there is one concrete objective continuity between all of them.

A story. It can just be a painting, or a sculpture, or a building. Each one, if scratched, will tell a story of some sort.

There are multiple types of people who can transfer this material from medium to medium. Each of them has to immerse themselves as much as possible and have a personal connection with it. If they do have a personal connection that is strong, then thier unconsious mind is a living child that is evolving the ideas itself through the same matrix that we organize information with.

You have people who channel the spirit of something like Nicholas Cage, or channel the spirit of an archetype. Stereotype is the word for media. Demons, archetypes, stereotypes become something that the actor or artist becomes possesed with.

The second type of people are story tellers/writers. They can deduce a story that lives in conjunction with the flow of the original story and not be the original host of the idea.

We can find different ways to "grab the essence" of things with higher and higher resolution as technology evolves with cameras and computers. This is much easier to do with films that have an expanded universe or subculture with them. Examples like Star Wars or Rocky Horror Picture Show. "I just realized that this is 2021 and that film.. nevermind" Point being, the more information we have the easier it is to do this.

However this only works backwards. TRUE INDIVIDUALITY is just your incarnated soul. Someone such as a classical composser will use ABSENCE of information in a peculiar way. Minimalism speaks volumes. In minimalism and postmodern art, it is much easier to take these geographic matrixes and cross them into other dimensions that come back around in unexpected ways, but it's still mathematics of some sort. If you can guess the number that the original artist was counting in his head, the pattern emerges.

So sure it is possible to have a true spiritual successor that is not related to the original. However, never exactly the same.

Uhm. No. Not in todays business with millions at stake. Almost everything's calculated and a deliberate decision. With countless of art directors, script writers, producers and so on. It's not always leading to the effect the studios and producers desire. But it is first and foremost a crafted product and thus very little decisions, if any at all, are left by "chance".

You can find quotes of some of the oldest well known artists out there where they lamet without end on the fact that they have to deliver a fucking lot of "schlock" (aka Products) instead of "real" artistic work. I vaguely remember reading that some artists used to copy statues of the ancient world, burry them in some garden for a few weeks and destroy some parts and present it as real "old" artwork so that it would actually sell. Because for some reason this was the shit everyone wanted back then. What I am saying there are always trends.

You would be surprised how often creative work tells absolutely fucking nothing and has been done for the sole purpose of selling something because you need to put food in the fridge or get your grades - been there done that.

After a run of bad luck we meet the designer of Spike's ship.

Pierre le Fou

I think this one is best represented by this scene. Be Bop is known for it's jazz but one of the best tunes in the show was a one off experimental ambient track.
