Darkweb/deepweb

Beaushizzle

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
So, I am interested in using TOR software to access the so-called deep web. However, I'm somewhat terrified about it after reading horror stories about the crazy/sick shit some people put on there.
I'm asking for tips from TOR users on ways to safely browse the sites, what to avoid, sites that I can read for educational purposes, etc.
Note to admins: I am NOT going to use it for illegal activities like pirating (I despise thievery and thieves, and I view piracy as thievery) or illegal purchases (I am violently opposed to any drug use aside from marijuana and alcohol).

To be honest, it seems very exaggerated. I'm pretty sure a LOT of people are making creepy-ass pages on the deep web simply because there is an expectation to. Also, the "deepness" of it "legitimizes" a lot of horror shit.

Say you come across a horribly scary website on Google, claiming to tell recent stories of murder and torture - you'd eyeroll and go "lol, creepy-pasta", but as soon as it's on the deep web, people freak right the hell out.

According to statistics, it's mostly used for file-sharing anyway, from what I understand - and not evil file-sharing, just... abundant file-sharing.

You really can't stumble across any of the fucked up shit by accident, unless you start clicking links without knowing where they lead.

You don't need TOR unless you are using or creating a network that is confidential to the point of being afraid of hackers stealing information.

That being said, the idea is fun.

Seems like this Dark/Deepweb stuff is exagerated. Mostly stuff that a normal person can't do much with anyway. And if we are honest, most of this sick stuff is something that everyone has seen thousand times already, rotten? Do I need to say more?

Boy, what happend with irc/quakenet can't be the only one remembering it!

Just so you guys know before you get any ideas,

Most openly "illegal" or "Questionable" stuff that you find on TOR is operated by government agencies looking to track your ass.

You need an outside meatspace login/IP to access other stuff.

Intelligence is limited to person to person contact as always.

Gone are the good ol` days of being able to order rocket launchers and heroin online to your doorstep.

Well, not quite...but... don't worry about it.

Child porn is the LEAST interesting thing on the darkweb.

To define Darkweb from deepweb to avoid confusion.

Deepweb: Is usually unfinished web domains, old IP addresses, sites under contruction, All sites not listed to show up in a search engine.

So if you decide to make a website that you DONT want to show up in a search engine, it is a part of the deepweb.

Darkweb: Websites purposefully masked and hidden behind TOR networks and IP randomizers, encrypted web domians. Networks used by government agencies, spy networks, criminal networks, hackers, or people just trying to hide/secure their shit for numerous reasons. Both good and bad.

IRC is dead along with ICQ

In Colombia neither the Piratebay or the other torrent sites are blocked at all so we don't really need TOR to pirate things.

I saw a documentary on the deep web and the Silk Road, narrated by Keanu Reeves. I really recommend it.

The Matrix was not a documentary, brah.

THey made a documentary long before Matrix about the Darkweb. Even before the Darkweb bemake a thing!
