Dead Money *spolier* How to get all of prize at the end.

ManWithNoName

It Wandered In From the Wastes
This is how I got all the gold bars.

Sorry its kind of hard to explain how to do it, I'll try again.

To get out with all of it and quicker you need to convince Ehaja to come down and meet you face to face.
After that you will get an option to betray him and trap him down there.

You do this by walking to the sheild doors because Ehaja will power them down so he can walk though them.
But you can only go though the farthest shield door which is in the farthest right hand corner of the room.
You can't go thought the nearest shield door without being detected.

But you have a limited amount of time to get to that door, because Ehaja is walking to the vault and once he gets there he will activate the shields to the doors and you will need to restart.
To get there in time you need to use a weird method.

With a stealth boy on and crouched, open the vault door walk out and close it now face forward drop gold in front of you, the gold will now have been dropped a few feet in front of you.

Now you walk maybe 2 yards in front of the gold.

Since you dropped the gold it will allow you to quickly walk 2 yards infront of it as you are no longer over weight limit.

Now you turn around and pick the gold up, try staying far in front of it thought, and turn back around and repeat this process until you get thought the farthest shield door.

If you get though the shield door your home free as a nearby elevator will take you to the fountain.

Hope this is more clear.

Doing this I got 37 gold bars which I believe to be all of them. hope this helps anyones trying to get away with all of them. Also 37 gold bars is worth 389943 caps. But trying to sell to merchents drops value to about 5500 caps each.

Wow, I really didn't understand much of this. Commas are your friend.

Is this a bug exploit? Or is it an intentional ending to the DLC?

This is better.

Ah ha, I understand it now! That's pretty clever, actually, even though it seems to ruin the "twist" at the end which encourages gamers to let go of the material wealth.

Yeah I thought that was kind of funny but I spent like an hour trying to figure out how to do it. But now all the gold is sitting safley in my bathtub at the lucky 38. One of my friends only made it out with one and he ask me how many I made it out with.."oh you know not to many only...37.."

But this has gotten me excited about the great divid or whatever they said were the two couriors will fight under the achiechent flag. And that sounds like the American falg to me.

I wonder why they did that goldbar thingy. Like there arennt already enough caps on the game.

I grabbed two and left; which I consider okay because I already a hundred thousand odd caps. and now I have like 500 stimpacks after spending all my casino winnings/found SM chips on stimpacks.

Beside the broken gamebalance, I think it's a pretty nice idea. Especially because these items do weight a lot and you can't carry everyone of it with you.

That's true, I could only carry 2 of them out there, and if I wouldnt've been in a rush escaping there I could have done that "trick" shown here (I'd rather call it an exploit).

The gold bars break gamebalance only after you figure how to get them out and start a new game, otherwise, the player will be level advanced and swimming on caps. I've found the idea great, people was rageous and very pissed when they realize the difficulty of getting the bars.
Take a look on the wikia about the gold bars and Heist of Centuries, you will see all the shouting and cursing.

A spit on the face of lazy players who wants everything available very easily to them.

I thought the whole point of the gold bars was to really drive the point home that in order to make it out of the Sierra Madre alive you need to 'let go' and not be greedy.

The entire game is filled with stories of people turning on each other and killing themselves because they wanted the riches of the sierra madre to themselves. Elijah can actually be trapped in there because he also wants all the ''riches'' to himself, and so will you if you try to follow that path.

I thought it was a really nice gameplay point to put them down there but make it technically impossible to leave with them. Has nobody seen the films where the heroes are made to leave a fortune behind them only to find the girl has a few diamonds in her bra? To me that was the whole idea of leaving with say 2-3 goldbars, you aren't as rich as you could have been, but you still have a good amount of caps.

But even if you get out with all the Gold Bars, unless you have a good Barter SKill you will not be able to sell them at more than like 5000 somethign caps, and there is not a single vendor with more than 8000 caps at a time, and you would have to carry them around in groups, every time you would have to take like 5 with you, because you need to have some armor and a gun, and then come back again, and repeat the process at nauseum. I am happy with my 10 golden bars.
The real prize of Dead Money are the SIerra Madre Vending Machines, you can ahve weapon repair kits without having to go find for the components, you only need to come back every three days to the bunker, steal every cigarrette carton you find, and Have some scrap metal and fission batteries, cheap stimpaks too.

Well I'm happy with my 37. I never planned on selling them anyways. I'd rather have the visual reward than the financial one. It seemed to easy to just sell those and make a bunch of caps.

I really liked the ending myself, and the idea of letting go as it was really REALLY hard for me to do as I always squirrel loot in Fallout. I made it out with only 2 bars, and that was because I hadn't realized that I had 3 Automatic Rifles in my inventory that stacked and showed as one.

I did however manage to leave with over 170,000 worth of loot, not counting the two bars. How? I gambled at the casino until I reached the limit which left me with 17000-something in chips. Which I traded in for pre-war money just before descending to the vault. One pre-war money unit = 10 caps.

I thought the ending of Dead Money was brilliant. It really highlighted the whole theme of the DLC which was, "Let go, begin again.".

The only way to escape the Sierra Madre was to let go of your greed; you and all three of your companions were trapped there due to some form of greed, and the only way to live through the thing is to let go. The real treasure was that after you escaped, you could "Begin again" with this new knowledge of letting go of greed.
