DLC Play order.

Heh, I did it even easier. The roboscorpion is too big to fit through doorways, so I just stayed in the little shack you entered in, popped out of the door, shot a few rounds of the grenade MG, popped back in - rinse and repeat.

I do HH as early as possible, around 10-12, so that the enemy Tribals have sensible weapons, rather than carry around stuff that would make Veteran Rangers pale in admiration. I know they raided an armory, but 12.7 SMGs, Brush Guns and anti-materiel rifles for everyone? Come on.

OWB and DM are pretty much interchangeable; doing OWB first gives foreshadowing on Elijah and Catherine (and closes their story arcs, to an extent), doing DM first gives you foreshadowing on Big Mountain.

I'll try this on my second run, then.

Oh, and PC's are better even if consoles have their uses.

I originally played it in order of DLC.....

Now I think I will go with

Honest Hearts
Old World Blues
Dead Money
Lonesome Road

So, I've got a different, mildly related question. I just reinstalled NV to give it another go, but I'm starting a new game. It appears that all DLCs are available from the start, and while I'm guessing it all scales to your level, what would be the recommended point in the game to actually go and do all of that?

You can go into Honest Hearts fairly early. It's not as challenging as the other three as far as combat.

Well I've got a play through going right now, and I did it as such. (Note: Siding with House in the main game)

I did HH right before I got to the strip for the first time. I was level 9. After getting back I continued with the main story until I took care of the Khans for House. Then I did Dead Money at about level 18. Afterwards I continued until just before I destroyed the Brotherhood, did OWB at level 30 (Logan's Loophole). When I got back I finished off the Brotherhood. That's where I'm at now.

The only one I'd be concerned about is Dead Money, try and be around level 20 before you go. The others can be conquered fairly easily if you know what to do.

Honest Hearts is less tied into the DLC narrative, and is easier at lower levels (no friggin Green Geckos making even Deathclaws seems like pussies). From 15 onwards it should be good. Wait till at the very least 20-25 before doing either Old World Blues or Dead Money (I would do OWB first myself, the enemies also scale into very, very hard territory at high levels, while most of DM's difficulty comes from puzzles and having high enough skills to solve them or not). Then Lonesome Roads ater the main quest is well underway and you have confidently chosen a side.

Jeyl's Order

1. Dead Money.
I like doing Dead Money first because I like to have stories start from the end and end at the beginning... sort of speak. I like how stories tend to finish characters early and then later delve deeper into their development as you progress through the game. Kind of like Portal.

2. Lonesome Road
For two reasons. One, I've got to have the advanced riot gear early. I love the look. Two, I also like getting to know more about the world before I actually experience it head on, like the tribes in Honest Hearts and Big Mountain in Old World Blues. And the message that the Courier gets from Ulysses works better when he/she hasn't done Honest Hearts yet.

3. Honest Hearts
I always do this after Lonesome Road because I just felt story wise it would make sense to have the Courier be put into another Courier situation where he/she gets to determine the fate of another culture. I'd like to think that my Courier makes her decisions in this DLC based on what she learned about herself and the Divide in Lonesome Road. And giving Graham a chance to not be a cold blooded killer in the end and holding onto the land I thought brought a small sense of redemption for the Courier.

4. Old World Blues
And we finally come to the place where everything started. I can't imagine playing this DLC anywhere else but for last because it answers so many questions and has a lot of "end game" like moments. You have your epic boss fight, the confrontation, the surprise twist, and a player based epilogue that gives your Courier a new purpose after the events of New Vegas. Plus I like to conclude dark and troubled action oriented stories with more light hearted fun.

just got the ultimate edition. Thought you would have to do the DLC in order of release to make the plot fall together...

I started with Dead Money, which is fucking hard. I guess il do either OWB or HH then Lonesome Road. On the next replay i will change it up a bit.

Fuck the cloud

I like doing Lonesome Road as early as I can. ED-E is my constant companion so I like having all of his upgrades as we wander the Mojave.
