does the time limit in fallout 1 eventually disappear?

well i am not hostile but one of the guards shoots me when i am a few feet away. all i got right now is laser pistols, and a pistol stole the laser pistols off the cult members, got the big gatling gun from dead mr handy, and unfortinately i have low gun skills for small/big/energy weapons. i only have ian as my party member right now.

it is the guard around the corner of the jail cell, i snuck past the first guard just outside my cell as i left the cell, to get to the elevator, cuz he kept asking me to goto the leader or to die now essentially, i think he moved around the corner or disappeared somehow. cuz the guard around the corner just shoots me on sight. and then ALL the other guards move in, just from him seeing me. i will see if i can get a screenshot taken.

i also got a standard pistol from the dead vault dweller in the cell i started in, and that guard around the corner, as soon as i take 2 steps towards him he shoots at me, and all the other guards come running after me and ian.

I see... you're screwed. Sorry but wait till you can use a flamer and minigun. Oh and get the Followers of the apocalypse to help, found in Adytum (go up to Downtown, then go west, maybe a bit south-west).

AND GET ARMOUR!!!

(Hint/spoiler: I have a hint... but do you want to see it?)

I've fought my way out of that one before; but it's not easy. I'm surprised that you have any equipment at all; and shocked that the dead Zed has a pistol in your game... in jail.

Did you get in there by way of Harry, or by playing a secret agent for the [base] entrance guard?

Hahaha, nono, I shouldn't laugh - but my god, man, what the hell are you doing invading the super mutant military base dressed in nothing but your flimsy jump-suit!? :'D
Important tip: In FO1 and 2, armor are not merely fashion-statements, as they tend to be in Beth games (including Oblivion and Skyrim), - armor here is absolutely essential, and not just any armor!
HINT: Think... armors! Now, get the fudge out of the military base, RUN if you have to (as in, run away if mutants initiate combat with you, just RUN!)

There is not much else to tell you about how to solve your current situation: run!

Oh, okay, backtracked thread a bit, and you were sent there against your will, okay, fair enough, now get the hell out of there :D

That's my lad! Run sonny Jim, run!

No seriously, go to the hub, do a couple of jobs, know the land. Wait do you want to be good or bad?

i had leather armor, but when i was in necropolis (harry i think) i talked to one of the mutants in the building and he said i have to see his leader. i got taken to the leader who punched me around for not telling him where vault 13 was and threw me in jail after taking all my equipment.

the dead body had the basic pistol, i snuck past the guard outside my cell, as i mentioned before. i got the energy pistols off the cult members, and stole the radio from one of the group of 3 mutants that asked what i was doing there, i said i was supposed to be there and they let me pass. i repaired and fixed the mr handy only to have it destroy itself, which got me a big gatling gun and ammo. i used science on the vat computer to dload 2 logs from the pc, and found i can either detonate the base really quickly, w/ or w/out an alert, or set it for a little longer so i can have a chance of escaping.

i have found a force field door i cannot disable, i got 2 explosive devices i dont know where i am supposed to use, an out of order elevator, and where the boss met with me, when i enter his field of vision he kills me. or i go the direction of the guard shown above and he shoots me w/out provocation and all the guards in the area come after me, all in all, i dont think i can get out of hear alive and have no idea how to get my armor and equipment i had back. so i am essentially naked.

i found out what happend when i divulged where vault 13 was... that was pretty terrible. and all this happened cuz i was looking for the vault where the water chip was and was trying to find the parts to help the ghouls fix their water pump so i could get the chip...! i saved in the jail cell cuz i figured it was part of the story and i could get out and be on my merry way.

Retreat. Go to the Hub, JOIN THE BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL!!!

You get combat armour. And a good weapon. And a lot of ammo.

You don't have to make him jail you. You can outrun him when he moves toward you to punch you. As he can only walk, you can do thousand of things while he is still trying to reach you.

i didnt know that... i figured it was like combat in that once a baddie is done moving, then you can. i started a new game, i tired several times to get out of there and kept getting killed in 2 hits.

Ah, the joy of playing Fallout for the first time and immediately taking the involuntary shortcut to the Military Base full of angry motherfucking mutants.

Sorry to hear that, but hey... it's an amusing thought though! The one hand picked to save the vault managed to derp himself right into the super mutant base, where he perished in a feeble attempt at escape :D
That's what I love with the old games, in FO3 and such, unless you really, truly, horribly suck, you almost cannot die or lose or do wrong, you just have to shoot the enemies, and you're home free. FO1 is a dangerous world, things kill you, and sometimes you can't even move an inch before some super mutant blasts your unprotected, pyjama-wearing self twice, and melts you :D

I like your go getter attitude tho, now go get your armor! Okay, you started a new game - try to be a bit tactical now
1. The world is VERY dangerous. Rumaging around by impulse, kicking down doors, entering caves, etc - very very discouraged!
2. Focus on building up - look for jobs that offer money or equipment, and keep building your character. Try - at the best of your effort - to save difficult missions for later.
3. Talk to people! Systematically, see what they have to say, the quests are there, they're just not always very obvious

Try to set a goal for yourself of being a walking human tank, before even thinking about super mutants!

Eh, disregard all that and just do whatever you want; you will discover what works and what doesn't. The only advice you need to adhere to is to always keep several save files! It's not a bad idea to save your game whenever you enter a new location. Then maybe use a separate slot for saving whilst exploring said location. That way, even if you fuck up royally, you can always retry.

All what dude? Are you having a bad day?
If you have paid attention to the thread, you'd see that OP more than welcomes hints and pointers, even down to spoon-feeding spoiler-level. By telling him some general sound advice, you rush in to blast everyone with the "explore openly, and don't listen to anybody's advice!", the dude wandered himself into Mariposa.

Don't go around hopping in front of people, telling them to disregard "all" that someone else has said, it's a dick move and you prooobably know it
