Dragon Age? What the hell happened to you?

III is not very good to be honest. It just doesn't have that Gothic atmosphere in it. I think they centered their attention too much on the visual part of the game. But the reviewers speak highly of III so you might as well give it a try. However, Gothic II is in my opinion the best in the series. You should definitely play it

Gothic on the other hand, damn, that was a good solid game. Played through it twice, once with the Old Camp and Gomez, and once with the swamp pot-smokers. Wonderful atmosphere, a bit of a simply story at times, but well brought and executed. Never played II, or III, or Risen, but I'll do so one of these days.

Gothic II Gold is where it peaked, an absolute must-play RPG.

III is a nigh-unplayable mess. Risen is a slightly inferior remake of Gothic.

Risen kicks the ass out of Gothic III though. At least until it turns into a dungeon crawl for like half the game.

I think everyone including me is burnt out on Tolkinesque fantasy. The developers deliberately defied many stereotypes about elves, dwarves, mages, golems etc. but it's still Tolkienesque so it's not going to be as refreshingly as something like Dark Sun or Planescape or even steampunk.

Despite the setting and the fact Ozramar and the Deep Roads almost made me quit, I rate the game "quite good". I enjoyed myself very much most of the time despite the flaws and clocked in at over 50 hours even though I skipped all the boring side quests. The voice acting is excellent and varied and I cared about my party members.

The ending is true Fallout style modular which was a very pleasant surprise. This is a positive change from past Bioware games where the entire ending is determined by one or two choices at the end of the game. I find it bizarre and depressing Bioware created a better Fallout style ending than Fallout 3.

I also find it quite bizarre that this hobby has changed to a point that a GRAND THEFT AUTO game has better wriiting than a Fallout game...

Whew, nobody would have seen that coming in 1999...

Anyway, I havent played this game yet but I like Fallout types of ending better than some of the binary ones..

I go this yesterday for my PS3, and am enjoying it so far. I wish I had a PC that could handle this, as the console versions are a tad more dumbed down, but it's still enjoyable. Feels like a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, and it doesn't play like Mass Effect, which is good.

It kinda sucks that my 360 isn't connected to the Internet because I really want that patch that makes the game easier....

It's a tad TOO difficult for me....

I wish the difficulty was more or less on KOTOR's level and it would seem that way with the patch...

I just realized I never finished the game and have barely thought about it at all since I last played. it didn't leave a lasting impression, it seems.

I stopped right before the few final dungeon runs and never felt like coming back. I deleted the game and kept the saves, but I feel like I'm wasting HDD space.

I actually liked and finished the game even with all its flaws but when I tried to play it again I finally realized how bad it really is.

I just dont have the willpower to replay all those boring dungeon crawls, and origins and pretty much pointless outside certain points of main quest.

So, what do you guys think about the upcoming DLC, the Awakening?

Some info http://dragonage.bioware.com/awakening

Perhaps at last the choices you've made during the game will have an impact on your *current* playthrough.

As for the story, I bet it will be about one of or all the original Darkspawn - the Tevinter Blood mages that supposedly entered the Golden City and tainted it with their sin. So the Architect would be the one of those blokes or at least related to them somehow.

I heard some rumors that it will cost 40$ which is grossly overpriced in my opinion. Then again I believe that every DLC is overpriced, only exception is Mysteries if Westgate which is underpriced.

Still it sound good as long the 15 hours playtime is not spent on dungeon crawling. What I would like is a expansion that adds much more stuff in the vanilla game, like more quests, expanded old quests, more choices and consequences and redone dungeons, but that is empty wishing since it should already been it the game.

I'm excited for the expansion... although I'm finding the console version of this game to be awkward in terms of combat.
