The good Saint Proverbius has taken the task of getting DAC back up and running, and progress is being made. The links are coming back into operation, and improvements are emerging daily. The Saint is in the process of forming a team to continue bringing life back to our sister Fallout site. Welcome back, DAC!!

Check 'em out.

Link: Duck and Cover

Thanks to Briosafreak for the info.

Currently it's myself and King Of Creation working on the 'new team', I've messaged a few more people on here though, and if anyone wants to help out, just PM me... either with news posting, forum moderating.....

they're up again, good to have them back, we need quality fallout forums out there.

but i cant surf to it :s

i cant even DNS it... i asked some friends and they said they could go on it without a problem, which leads me to believe it's a DNS problem from my isp. however, if anybody else has problems too, please inform me...

don't have one

only used to visit the site and forum AGES ago, but never really bothered to register. was too much on the move back then anyway, so i wouldn't have been able to participate in any discussions... (dont like someone participating and then disappearing in thin air, so i didnt do it myself)

hopefully it's just an ISP screwup that will be resolved by tomorrow

I purged all the bans when we installed the new scripts. The scripts we have now turn a forum ban in to a ban from viewing anything on the site.

However, like Brios pointed out.. The domain for Duck and Cover is http://www.thevats.net so you'll need to update your bookmarks.

That said, not everything works over there yet. There's still a few issues, but the vast majority of the site functions better than it ever did. There's just still work to do.

I also had some DNS resolving issues with thevats.net for a while. Then they were gone, then they came back again.
It's definitely an ISP issue, but I get the feeling the DNS server the domain is stored at just plain sucks.

Basically you just end up with an error along the lines of "Connection failed", "No response" or "Domain not found" for no apparent reason. The server is not to blame, the DNS server and your ISP possibly are.

If the server has a static IP, it'd be nice if someone could post it. You could just add it to your hosts file if you're using Windows and can't resolve the domain.

Could someone fill me in on what the deal with Silver Style is? I couldn't find anything but a few vague comments regarding Fallout 3 namedropping. That doesn't have to be the reason for the above though.

Silver Style Entertainment is a developer in Germany that is producing a game along the same lines as Fallout, called The Fall. After Interplay canned Fallout they expressed interest in the license, as in this thread, among many others.

Their game looks interesting, but I'm not too impressed anymore, myself.

And not to be 'that guy', but this info is available by search function on NMA, FYI.

To be fair, most of the Silver Style stuff happened at DAC and RPGCodex. I didn't read through a lot of it, but from what I gathered the main guy (Carsten something) is a one man hype machine, and that combined with their only other game, Soldiers Of Anarchy, makes a few people..... dubious, I guess, about their capabilities.

I am aware of their game and their interest in the Fallout 3 license; I *did* search the forum, and after I couldn't get it to search for "The Fall" I settled for searching directly for Carsten's posts. In any case, I found an interesting "indirect" discussion with JE Sawyer about the weapon skills in Van Buren (because someone used the word "fall" in it) but nothing that would explain why it'd be more sensible to vote for BioWare than Silver Style to make Fallout 3. (The quote was from DAC's current poll, btw)

I noticed the complaints about hype, but is SoA so bad? I mean, so bad that you'd consider BioWare a valid choice but Silver Style a retarded one?

Don't know, I only fooled around with the demo a bit a few years ago. The reviews and comments I've read range from "It's ok, kind of fun" to "Mediocre and boring" though, so I'm guessing it's a decent game but nothing spectacular, and apparently nothing about it gave people confidence that SS could make a game of Fallout's caliber.

New news.

DAC just beat NMA to a bigish story.

Bethesda has opend the TES fourms up to multiple FO fourms.

True, but just making sure that everyone understands it's multiple threads (in other words, so that the gigantic intellects don't mistakenly assume that BethSoft has opened it's own FO3 forums).
