lol[/url]]The Kremlin has prevented Mikhail Kasyanov, the only genuinely democratic challenger, from taking part in the poll, claiming that signatures on his election petition had been falsified.

Oh well. Now the question is, will Medvedev seize the power and rule more liberally than Putin, or will he be a puppet of the Special Services.

It will be business as usual, all this liberal gibberish of Mr. Neverdever is just pure rhetoric.

fuck easy.

Y'know, for the average Russian the experience is roughly the same as if foreign media would drag in Geert Wilders as "the prominent Dutch politician" every time Holland is mentioned ever.
for some reason most of the time american media uses De Winter as the "leading voice of the belgian opposition"... which is imo pretty much the same as above.

Kasparov is media-horny, and he sure is useful to the big bosses by doing so, but dang...I don't wanna see him.
after having spoken to him i can honnestly say that he does not believe to be the leader of the opposition (more of a spokesperson) and that he's only such a mediawhore because it's the only way to get his cause more attention in the western world.
and while the media is always quick to speak about how dangerous this is for his personal health, he's the first to downplay that aspect of it all. (killing him would be "overdoing" it anyway...)

Again, if you talk to him again, please ask him why is he trying to get attention in the western world, and not, y'know, in the country he is trying to bring down the gubbermint.
Stop ignoring this.

EDIT REPLY: \/ ah, you're assuming. okay.

And you are basing this on...

Come on, Mr. Neverdever is part of the same Russian elite in the Kreml like Putin is, he was participating in the construction of Russia as it is now. If you have a look at the policy of this elite, you will see that they aren't interested in changing the status quo through Liberalism.

As he said on TV... "his main goal is to combine the "national tradition" of Russia with the fundamental values of democracy" ... I assume that the "national tradition" will be more privileged.

I am just waiting for the food prices to pick up here soon. Jesus, everything is so expansive here already!

chances of meeting him again are slim to none.

as to why? i'd think that's fairly obvious, from a political point of view.
it's one of the many ways to gather support (in whatever form).

and probably to "help" himself and secure a future, as pretty much every politician does.

Regardless, SuAside, Kasparov has lost some amount of touch with reality and doesn't seem to realise how much he has destroyed his own credibility and how much he hurts real opposition in Russia.

He's an ass. Plain and simple.

Jeltsin was around from the start too, doesn't mean he holds the same views as Medvedev or Putin or Ivanonov.

We'll see what happens. Mostly depends on how long Medvedev assents to being Putin's puppet. Maybe 2 years, maybe 8, who knows? No one, is who.

I agree with you, but I am not saying that Mr. M is going to bea puppet.
