Enclave vs. Brotherhood

thefatness

First time out of the vault
the way i see it, both parties have mass technology and are very advanced and both are just about even so the whole game COULD be you joining either side...

I was curious about whether any other bases than just Navarro and the Oil Rig were out there. It frustrated me that the "Vault Research Contol Center", (apparently on the oil rig), is something you never learn about.

Oh jeeze, you people are going to make me bitter, like Rosh.

Ok:
-Enclave vs Brotherhood = no because the chosen one nukes the oil rig which served as the enclaves headquarters. It was just the rig and Navarro that they controlled. The Brotherhood, as stated by that guy in San Francisco, had declined to the point that they could not openly challenge the Enclave in FO2, which is why they build the outposts to watch the Enclave without being noticed.

-The "Vault Research Contol Center" is probably where you rescue the citizens of Vault 13 and your fellow tribesmen from in FO2.

No... it was an accident... And, uh... weather baloon :look:

Swamp gas, man, swamp gas.

May I note, also, that having two factions with enormous technology waging war on the wasteland would make Fallout 3 painfully similar to Auto Assault. It kind of lacks the decay-feel of the original Fallout if two factions still fight with super lasers at that point

I agree with you in some ways , but smaller conflicts wouldn't be that bad. I mean, the Mutants were planning a large scale war on humanity, but that didn't stop the feeling of decay.

Yeah, but that would be because that fight included the BoS and mutant factions.

The mutants were built upon the remainders of society, mutated beyond recognition and presenting themselves as the only distorted and sick hope to the Wasteland.

The Brotherhood consisted of a bunch of recluses that wanted nothing to do with the decaying Wasteland and would have cared little if they weren't personally under threat. Their technology was not so much developed as it was kept, like a librarian wandering amongst rotting books.

That gives a very different image from two powerful technolohy-weilding factions having it out

Wait, aren't the mutants dieing out? I mean what's the point of going to war if you're infertile?
Anyway, this whole thing sounds a bit too much FOBOS for my taste.

That is actually an excellent question. Did the Master know that his soldiers would be the first and last generation?

{127}{}{You've got a problem with your master plan.}
{130}{Mast09}{And what is that?}
{133}{}{I happen to know that your mutants are sterile.}
{135}{Mast11}{Preposterous! The FEV-2 virus doesn't destroy the reproductive organs
of those it mutates.}
{136}{}{Perhaps the virus didn't sterilize people once, but it does now.}
{137}{}{Have you talked to any of your mutants about this?}
{138}{}{Maybe it's all that extra radiation.}
{139}{Mast12}{Do you have proof?}
{140}{}{Of course, I do! Here it is . . .}
{141}{}{Take my word for it, it happens.}
{142}{}{Ask your own mutants.}

There you have it.

Actually I wonder what the average mutie had to say about it.

I don't really want to imagine the Master having an intimite talk with some random muties about the juices still flowing or not.

Well then. It seems the Master was kind of a moron.

At least his troops would live a long time before dying naturally. Not as long as Ghouls, perhaps, but they seem to have a longer lifeline than regular humans.

He WAS unaware of that fact, and would abandon his plan once he was presented with it. He was no moron.

Then, if that dialouge tree was available, did he say he was going to change his plans? Or did the Vault Dweller kick his ass before he had a chance to consider doing so?

*sigh*

{149}{Mast17}{But it cannot be. This would mean that all my work has been for
nothing. Everything that I have tried to . . . a failure! It can't be.
Be. Be. Be.}
{153}{Mast19}{I . . . don't think that I can continue. Continue? To have done the
things I have done in the name of progress and healing. It was
madness. I can see that now. Madness. Madness? There is no hope.
Leave now, leave while you still have hope . . .}

Of course, there were also paths where he would stubbornly adhere to this plan.

{143}{Mast13}{This proves nothing! You will pay for your insolence. Pay!}
{144}{}{I must digest this information. One moment.}
{145}{Mast14}{I must digest this information. One moment . . . I understand now.
You made a clever forgery. You made this up to fool me. Fool! Me!}
{146}{}{What!? I don't understand, I thought it was correct!}
{147}{}{You're lying! You're denying the facts in front of you!}
{148}{Mast16}{You will pay for what you have done! Pay! Done.}
