Enclave

Why are people so obsessive of a pretty generic faction? :/

Because they get black, freaky ass power armor and plasma guns.

Bitches love black freaky ass armor and plasma guns!

That mostly, and because they have a good solution to keep the existence of human race. FEV virus would kill all super mutants, and other monstrosities. so then we won't have to worry about Super mutants rebel years after...They are bigger, stronger and faster we wouldn't stand a chance against them!

Uhhh mate, I don't think you were really paying attention.
If the enclave releases the FEV EVERYONE DIES!

I repeat EVERYONE DIES!

The FEV kills anyone who has any form of mutation. This means about 99% of the inhabitants of the wasteland. Not only mutants, but ordinary people as well.

That is why the Enclave are so evil; they are basically Nazis crossed with Republicans and lobbyists.

Which is a pity, because they do have some fairly sweet stuff. However, not all the Enclave are bad. Arcade Gannon is a member of the Enclave, and he's actually a fairly nice guy who hates what the leaders of the Enclave hope to do.
I for one think it would make for an interesting sequel if PC is a member of the Enclave, as the player would then have to deal with the hatred that the wasteland holds against them, even if its completely unjustified.

Don't forget comunists

Uhhh no, the Enclave are actually opposed to communism, being a remnant of the USA goverment and all...

I should add, the supermutants will eventually die. They might be bigger, but are really outnumbered, and has no real armors. And if we let alone the ones from Capital Wasteland (who are being hunted by the BoS anyway, and getting short of their FEV), most of them are peaceful. So, what do you want to solve? Feral ghouls? They're not that tough, they're just a little scary.

They are mutants, they are not allowed to live, they should die so we could keep future generations safer, they are peaceful at the moment, but what in 10 or 20 years!?

... Isn't that the kind of thinking that should make the mutants consider us a threat? I mean, there are violent mutants, but as far as I know they never got together as a race and decided to commit genocide.

Honestly, if the muties hadn't been sterile and the Master could work out the kinks in the mutation process (specifically, the intelligence issues), I would've cast my lot in with the Unity in FO1. The Master wasn't wrong about humanity, but even in all our feculence he didn't want to destroy us. His plan actually would've left more of humanity alive than The Enclave's, especially if the Thinker Nightkin hadn't been cut from FO1.

Sorry, got off on a tangent there, didn't I? None of that is pertinent to the discussion at hand, but it does demonstrate why it's time to give The Enclave a rest. They're an uncompromising shadow army of technologically dominant fascists. That doesn't leave a lot of room for subtlety, moral shades of grey, or anything but a looming boogeyman. Even if you were to keep them around, they're taking the same express elevator down into cloistered obscurity as the BoS, only the Brotherhood was more likable. I'm fine with them being referenced here and there by those who would have reason to know about them in future games (a subset of people whose numbers should be increasingly few and misinformed), but they don't work for me as an antagonist or even as a minor faction. Move aside and let someone else have a turn at bat. Preferably someone a little more multifaceted.

BigPipe, first of all, most mutants from the Fallout universe are sterile. As long as they won't attack you, you can watch them die aging for what matters to you. Also, everyone is a mutant. They are outnumbered, as I already said.
You can say they can become a threat of any human being. Also, if mutants weren't sterile, they'd actually be the next step in human evolution.

Yamu, if what you said happened, and the dying issue were sorted out, I would have offered myself for a role in the Unity.

They'll still be peaceful, it's just that more of them will have died due to varying circumstances. Seriously, look at ghouls in general. I'd wager a good majority of them are still "normal" people who just want to live out their lives. For another example, look at Lily. She used to be a soldier and assassin for the Master, now she takes care of Bighorners and seems very content doing so.

In the end, it seems like the mutants are more peaceful than the humans overall. Are there ones who aren't? Of course there are, because they're people. But the ones who are immediately hostile towards humans seem to have been weeded out.

Ghouls, super mutants and humans are all just people. I don't see genocide as an acceptable action just because some of those people are dangerous. Augustus Autumn would be a better leader than Eden. At least he realised killing the entire wasteland was a bad idea and fought against it.

I don't remember that. In fact, he tried to kill me after I convinced Eden that killing the whole wasteland was a bad idea.

Well, you are an enemy of the Enclave.
A man gotta stick to his principles I guess.

Though I think there is a speech check that can be made with him, that will cause him to back down and leave peacefully. I think it requires speech 100 or something.

He kills you because you are of no use. He is still evil but he doesn't want to kill everyone in the wasteland, just rule over them with an iron fist.

Yeah, I readed it in the wiki after making that comment. The fact he wanted to kill you is because the two options you can consider are killing all the wasteland or giving the water for the BoS to manage, so his plans wouldn't become a reality with neither of your choices. That kinda sucks.

No, that is the stalwart Colonel Agustus autumn, fighting for your freedom against those agitators- Ghouls, Slavers, Super Mutants and the Brotherhood of Steel

Heck, you could just tell Autumn the code when they capture you in the hope you can join them.

Oh wait...

But he shoots you...what an asshole.

Yeah, once I decided to just tell him the code to see what would actually happen because before I always told him to fuck off or say I'm not telling you anything, and he shot me, the grey haired bastard

Though to be fair, you couldn't join the enclave in FO2 either.
Nitpicking:
1. Go to Navarro.
2. Talk to Sergeant.
3. Guard duty forever.
4. Profit!

No 'game over' screen or anything, but yes, you could join Enclave in F2.
