Yeah but, I've tried loading FoRes as either the patch, renaming it to the patch and editing it, using it as the master, renaming it the master. Its all either errors or doesn't change anything in game. I must be missing something.
Why not install the whole thing again?
Yeah, I did just that. But the stuttering is still there, AND apparently not even Fallout 2 was affected, I tried booting up Fallout 1 Fixt and the stuttering was there too! So instead, I restarted my laptop instead and now poof~ the problem's gone.
It's fine now, after I restart my laptop. I play 1280x600, using DirectX 9 32 bit (since DDraw 7 stutters the whole game for me), full screen. My antivirus's been going crazy after I reinstall Fallout 1.5 and booting up either through the config or the .exe, thankfully I can abort its' operation and get the game start up anyway.
Setting up those paths to DATs should be enough. Just remember to copy edited protos from data\proto to resdata\proto.
I didn't have that problem because I have a huge amount of HP (started with 10 END and 9 STR and raised STR to 10 later with implants and have the perks Brutish Hulk [that increase HP gain by twice per level] and both Livegiver perks [which increase our HP gain per level by 8 in total]), I have over 300 HP at level 22 or 23 or something.

I wasn't able to recruit him with -23 karma. I used save editor and lowered karma to -800. I recruited him. Used save editor again to return to -23 karma and he left the party. He only likes evil guys. Sad to see that I can't keep all companions like in FO2.
