When you go inside the Proto folder, make sure that all the files inside the folders found there are set as read only. The installer should have done this automatically for you assuming you used the installer.

I also used the installer but the files were not set to read only automatically. I had to do it manually and I know from having installed and played the Megamod before that this can cause lots of weird bugs.

Yes, that is true. Actually, since they were not read only do this: Uninstall the restoration pack, reinstall it, and then set the proto files to read only.

Also, what OS are you running?

A little something I've noticed regarding Cassidy NOT changing his outfit according to the armor he wears:

For the longest time Cassidy would stick to his leather armor, no matter what he was wearing, until I took his original leather aror out of his inventory! Right after that he was behaving as well as he should.

I am not sure if this is a bug, but Sulik doesn't return to my party after I leave his village.

the same for me, but then I walked for my car to the slave camp and than back again to the village, Sulik says he spent enough time home and wants to travel again, so you might just have to wait some time

Is anyone else unable to get to the hidden footlockers in Broken Hills? I positioned my character in the hex half off the screen between the exit grid and the fence and clicked damn near every hex on the other side of the fence, yet I keep exiting the town to the world map. :\

IT was fixed already. From now on Broken Hill first area, officially, got the only thing interesting in the basement of the shop. It's a nice area to store your stuff but 1> it's off the center, making travel there hard, 2> not a shop worth talking about

Awesome job, Killap. This is what some "official" patches should be.

I do have some questions too:

- In Klamath, as a female you can have sex with Slim to get the key to the northern area. However, my char still had the "virgin" status after doing so. I remember reading somewhere (in per's walkthrough probably) that the devs did not call the sex scripts with Slim. Is it intentional, or did they just forget it? If it's not intentional, you probably could fix this. In the Den, there's something similar - Karl proposes for sex when you give him $1000, however there is no fade-out and time does not elapse. I don't know if the scripts are called here either. Since the game describes the event as a "quickie", this could explain why there is no time incrementation, but I don't know if that's what the devs wanted.

- In the Den, there are 2 characters that initiate dialog when you come near them: Petey and the child who initiates the orphanage quest. If that makes sense for Petey, I think that child should open dialog only when you click him. Why would he speak so openly to a stranger about that?

- Did you add some items, even if only $5, fruits and beer, into Broken Hills and San Fran lockers? I always think there should be items there, since there are so many empty containers that makes no sense at all. Or just dispose of them.

- I read in some other thread in that forum that a guy wanted to swap Chris' and Bridgekeeper's models, since you get a purple robe for defeating the bridgekeeper and not a brown one, and that would make Chris stand out less in the gas station. If you didn't do that already, that would be nice.

It's an opinion of mine is that Chris should NOT be stand-out. He's supposed to be the door keeper to keep away wander-in uninvited guests, not a flaming recruit advertisment. So if he look a bit bland, blended in, all the better.

As to Broken Hill chests, bookcase and the like, it really depend on you, Killap. If you do it, great, if not, it's not as if the first time we skim through this area after all.

As for Cassidy, he's a mystery. Leave him in Leather, he look normal, but the video (talkinghead) does not start. Leave him in metal, he still retain the leather figure but his talking head now appear. I havent equipped him with combat armor and the like so I dont know what other mystery he's got.

when i blow up the toilet in modec, maria completely disappears and doesn't appear in the game again yet in my karma it says your still married

Go to New Reno to see whether you can get a divorce then. Prolonged Absent Spouse, ground for divorce right there

Or visit those slave-buyer (VC Servant CEnter, Den's Merzger, New Reno...) to see if you can sell your wife.

Okay, here is an idea: it's just me or the Dunton's should be out of Klamath after they are exposed?! Seems a bit odd to see them again after their little scam is brought to light...In the Wild West, the cattle thieves were hanged, why the Fallout universe should be more merciful?!
Just think about it...You are exposing what they are doing and no punishment for them? Would be nice if they are brought to some sort of justice(a hefty fine, death, them being castaway)....
Just an idea for what it seems an incomplete quest....

Has any one else had a bug (or at least, I think it's a bug) where starting at the Ghost Farm map they can't run anymore? The map seems to mess up my combat shotgun so I can;t use it (I assume this was intended since the enemies seemed to be laughing at me), but now I can't get my character to run anywhere, even on other maps. It's only a minor issue, but it's rapidly becoming annoying...

Everything else has been rock solid so far for me, though.

First of all, hello everyone, been lurking quite a while but had to join now to ask something that has been troubling me with my latest game with the 1.1 patch.

Never seen this problem before, it has something to do with the new mods.

After completing the Modoc stuff, I started moving towards Vault City. When I got into first random encounter on the way, my two companions, Sulik and Vic in this case started to act like lifelong pacifists.

They're both on full HP, armed and armored, they have stimpacks, everything but they just don't want to fight, just spouting out "fleeing" messages and running away like in coward mode. I got a level in Modoc and both got some new skills etc, could have something to do with this but it's all very weird.

Tried to troubleshoot a bit, left em both to Modoc, did a little sightseeing, came back, recruited - same thing. Same with beating them to low hp, then healing, they still act like cowards. Tried different combat modes too, no dice. Went to Vault City and recruited Cassidy, we fought normally against anything hostile, but these two fellows still went flower power in fight.

What the "%"¤&¤ is going on? Has anyone else encountered this or does this have anything to do with the mods at all?? I'm puzzled.

Check if you've broken your leg during the fall maybe?

@killap (Long post)

* The Den *

I'm not completely sure why, but it seems that after installing your mod some of the Slaver Guild Guards seem to have insane damage resistance. .44 revolver, shotgun and hunting rifle only does 2-3 damage no matter where you hit them. The only way I managed to kill them was changing the combat difficulty to whimpy, aiming them to eyes and hoping for critical hits.

I had the same issue. I think there's something up with their armor, because when I switched over to .44 FMJ I began doing more normal damage, 11-14 per shot.

I'll check about the broken leg, but I thought I was at full health, etc. Thanks.

As for the pacifist thing, I'm experiencing the same thing. First it was just Sulik (I thought maybe he was out of ammo and I kept forgetting to check), but now Vic, too, just runs away. I'm at about the same place in the game that you are.

Got Awareness? If you look at them, no crippled limbs?

Ah of course!

Broke my own leg when I fell down the hole in Ghost Farm, so my companions didn't make it without scratch either. Can't remember this happening before the expansion, quite a time when I last time completed the game. Anyway if it's there, interesting addition.

edit

Found it in patch notes. I tried to refrain from reading the notes since didn't want to spoil the new stuff ;)

Anyway, problem solved.

Huh. Been a while since I played. Didn't realize this could happen. Cool.

Thanks for the help.

Are you telling me you intentionally beat them to low health? because there's one feature called 'apathetic state', caused by hitting them repeatedly, when they are in your team, and when they are out. It's on the original version, and maybe Killap didnt change it in this restoration pack.

I already did that before starting the game so I never had problems regarding corrupted protos. I mentioned it so that other people having problems with corrupted files could fix it easily.

I'm running WinXP SP2
