Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Hi Guys!

I'm a big fallout fan too, and was very excited to hear about fallout mods still exist and released. Downloaded your unofficial patch+expansion and started gaming. :)

I found one bug at the begining, could get through with a workaround, no other bugs yet, I'll post them to help improve. :)

Bug: at the beginning in Arroyo, when you get the flint to sharpen your spear, after entering the bridge zone, the game crashes.

Hidden treasures removed?

I suspect for a time but now I am nearly sure. You, killap, have removed hidden treasures from certain maps, havent you?

FIrst is the 10 mm pistol in Trapper Town rat tunnel. It's hidden quite well but I remember getting it in the last 2 games prior Pack. At the time when money to buy a 10 mm pistol is a BIG deal, that gun was my joy.

Second is the second Excavator chip in that mine. It used to lie on the ground to the east of the machine hold the 1st chip, in that nook. I had hope that you will make it possible to sell the chips to both mine owners. Now you removed it! I admit it's not the treasure I want it to be. Still!!!

Third is the Mk2 Metal Armor in Redding. The damn armor is so very hard to find because it's hidden among the bones in Wanamingo mine tunnel. Only the last game prior-Pack I could find it (even though Perl said so, the danmn thing is that well hidden). Now it seem it havent been removed there.

OWN UP! You removed it, didnt you?

What are you saying? That the gun was in the rat tunnel before, and now it isn't (it's still there though), or that it used to be somewhere else?

figure out who is rusteling the brahmin and
help torr gaurd the brahmin

im having some dificulities with this quest. dont know if they are errors or what.

if i kill the scoprions without talking to the duntons torr disapears and neither mrs buckner nor the duntons will be confronted with the limbs.

if i talk to the duntons and scare the duntons away same thing happens. torr disapears and is nowhere to be found

if i do scare of torr, he disapears and i get the quest to find him. and then torr is working correctly and i can confront the duntons with the limbs.

seems a bit odd that i have to scare of torr to finish of the quest...
 
Hidden Treasures Removed?

What I mean is that those 3 things were there before (in the original version) but you removed them in the Pack.

You are too early in the quest. From what you said you were just at the state of "protect brahmin with Tor" and havent advanced yet. Keep on going, guy, and you shall find out more.

It is working now.

What you need is:
1. Gotten "figure out who is rustling the brahmin"quest from Maida Buckner.
2.Have the limbs
3.Speech skill over 50

Then you can confront the Dunton brothers.
After that you talk to Ardin Buckner.

The figure out who is rustling the brahmin" quest still have a minor flaw. If the Dunton's die, it wont get crossed out. It is still possible to get that quest after they are dead as well, same problem there.

When talking to Dunton's on townmap, after "rustle the brahmin"quest, the first dialog screen is wrong. Once for each of them, after that it's fine.

I'm not speaking for killap, but the 10mm gun is still in the lowest level of the rat caves.

Really? Can you show me a screenshot? Cause I scoured the 3 levels for it.

And dont forget the Mk2 armor. The 2nd chip I am reasonably certain he removed it. (pity! I want to sell to both mine owners)

And Gawd! The bloody bug with pistol is still there. I was stopped by the Morton gangs. Several of them are equipped with .233 pistols. Once they draw it out and point toward me: CRASH!

Killap, what is the corresponding frame of pistol you add to the proto and the art folder? I wish to remove them files so that the game use .dat and deal with the damn pistol the original way.

Now I have to run away from Mortons.
 
I don't have any saves close to Trapper town anymore. But the gun is on a dead body a little bit to the north from where the rat god is.
The other stuff I don't know about....

I think i'll try this out once i complete the entire game once more.
But just a question, will using odin's miria mod crash this expansion?
I would love to have a useful miria cause there's a lack of female NPCs in there.

It probably won't crash the game, but it will surely cause problems with Miria. I might make that mod compatible one day, but we'll see.

Also, everyone please remember to keep gameplay related questions in the gameplay. This thread is strictly for bug reports.

Also, I have not removed any items that might have been found in the original game. When you speak of original do you mean 1.0 or 1.02. It might have been removed with one of the official patches. If that is not the case, then perhaps you are not looking hard enough since I am personally did not remove anything.
 
I just started playing, ran out of Arroyo and encountered a strange bug:
When i travel via worldmap, my character frequently stops traveling and enters ISO-View, just like an encounter would have happened. When i leave the area and reenter the worldmap, he proceeds his journey... to stop again... and so on...
any ideas?

So you are getting random empty encounters? Did you do a fresh install of the game and a fresh install of the restoration project (version 1.1)?

This issue had been reported with 1.0 and I made a few changes which seemed to make the problem go away. I used to get it too but not any more after the changes.

I don't know about the crits but I remember having trouble with the new NPC Petey at the Den when I started killing people. Petey just attacked me and he beat me to death without me having a chance to do shit. Maybe it's coz he's a jethead. Oh, this happened in 1.0

Another question. Are all of the things implemented in this release that are listed here http://user.tninet.se/~jyg699a/fallout2.html#prep under "Unfinished business" title like the uses for "useless" items such as the Ball Gag, Marked Cards, All the different "endings" that were left out, and the king arthur encounter to name a few. Which of them are actally missing still? I laso noticed that this guide did not have any mention of a Submarine.

didnt reinstall the game since i cant install but only copy it to my hdd (XP64). I didnt install the Restoration 1.0 prev to 1.1.

will try now with a fresh copy...
 
Print to file in Character creator

Also noted a bug after installing 1.1 when creating character and try to go to options>print to file. 1.1 crashes but vanilla does not.

Maybe this is knock-out related. After I got Sulik, he knocked out enemys way more than usual, and some knockouts lasted suspiciously long and sometimes after such a knockout I could leave combat mode.
 
my scoped hunting rifle only gives me 45% or lower on aimed shots, :( however my .44 magnum revolver gives me 95%, my small guns is over 100% already

is this a bug ?

If you enter the caves and then go back up and rest, the body the pistol is on will disappear. I'm not sure about the Mk2 armor, which I didn't even know about, but it's probably the same way. That could be what your problem is.

Not a bug - the scoped rifle percentage will depend on distance from target and will be worst close up.

And before anyone asks "do you have the Ammo Damage Mod" installed - my mod changes nothing with regards to accuracy/percentage to hit.
