Hakunin's chest is a bit weird. It has a steal skill check to open it.
then you get this message:

You deftly steal from the shaman's things.
You search the chest.
You deftly steal from the shaman's things.

You get the same type of message if you steal or lockpick it.

If your steal skill isn't high enough, you can't open it, but don't get any info about it.

What's interesting is that I haven't seen a single knockback. Normally sledgehammer and spear hits, especially crits, result in the enemy being thrown back and sliding across the ground for a distance. That hasn't happened even once in my new game. Everyone just gets knocked out right where they stand.

I do get a few knockbacks, but it's much more common with knockdowns and knockouts. I remember it being the other way around, it feels like they switched places.

Cheers

Since this is directly contrary to the instructions, is there a special reason why?
To be honest, I didn't see that you are supposed to install Restoration on top of a clean Fallout 2 1.0 install until I installed all of it, but since I saw someone say the Restoration project includes the 1.02 patch I saw no reason to delete the entire thing and start over. I'll do so if I get some confirmation that it's absolutely required, though.

The knockdown problem is probably one of my bugs rather than killaps. You can try replacing the copy of ddraw.dll included in the expansion with the latest one from here here and see if that helps.

If that's the case then I'll have to figure something out, because my Fallout 2 disc comes prepatched. I think there's a patch file in the game directory that can be deleted, but I don't know if that will cause a full revert to 1.0.

And Darek, yeah, that's what I thought too. It's like knockouts, which are usually rare and linked to head crits, have switched places with the common, torso-based knockback.

I think you're right, I replaced ddraw.dll with the newer 1.18b and everything seems to be okay now -- I just confronted a pack of golden geckos and had no knockdowns and knockouts whatsoever, only normal hammer knockback.

Interesting, so the crashes are only occurring with those on win 9x (win 95, 98). Can others confirm this?

Might have something to do with the sfall.dll file (the one specific to win9x and compiled differently from the ddraw.dll file for XP, Vista, etc) from Timeslip. He compiled the latest version differently than he normally does but he said that no issues came up in his testing. Perhaps his tests weren't over a long enough period of time. The fact that it can be reproduced in the same location, since if it was an issue with the sfall.dll the crashes would probably be random. Still, I'll get in touch with Timeslip and see what we come up with.

There is a version of this DLL file for win 9x to test this issue? if you have it around there, could you please do me the favor to send it to my mail?
Send the file to: puszki@gmail.com OR ghorkovian@gmail.com
BTW, the problem regarding Jason not giving you a teaching about hunting, is it a bug or did you edited this NPC?

@ Cyclis

To revert to 1.0 you need to change some command lines on the file "Fallout2.cfg"
Seek for the lines "Critter_patches" and "Master_patches".
In both of these, after the equals sign put:
C:\Program Files\BlackIsle\Fallout2\data

Save the file, and erase "Patch000.dat"
Then install the expansion.

I hope this works for you...

Hi. Thanks for this patch, it's been great having an excuse to play Fallout 2 all over again.

So, I've got a clean install with the latest patch on Win XP and I'm having trouble completing the weapon quest in the Primitive Tribe. Maybe it's just that I don't remember exactly how many weapons are needed (is there a way to check this), but I've got over 11 spears, 11 normal knives, and 10 sharpened sticks (among other things) and I still can't complete this quest. Is there something else that Primitive guy is looking for?

Awesome addon, thanks a lot.
Just found in http://user.tninet.se/~jyg699a/fallout2.html about Radscorpion Limbs. As page says: Sadly there's no way to confront them about this (a snippet of such dialogue exists, but is unused), so the Limbs are worthless. I haven't found info in changelog for that, so any chance to fix it in future release ?

Sigh!

Whatever Perl's guide said that it's unfinished, Killap's Pack made them finished.

Are you playing the Brahmin quest in Klamath yet? There's confrontation all right.

I think I've discovered a bug. This bug seems to contain spoilers, so don't read further if you don't want quest spoilers...

I haven't visited Vault Village yet. However, I have visited Vault City. When I go to the Servant Allocation Center, if I talk to the prisoners, one of them is a guy who curses at me; my dialogue response is "Oooops." Then the dialogue exits, enters again automatically, and now the guy is friendly to me, talks about raids from Vault City or something like that, being afraid they'll capture his village and bring them back to Vault City as servants. Then he gives me $10,000 to buy guns.

I'm assuming this is a dialog that's supposed to trigger later, in the Vault Village, and not when talking to some guy in a cell at Vault City?

SPOILERS

You assume right.

Did anyone encounter the vertibird squad ment to blow my brains out in Gecko? I used the computer in the powerplant to talk to the Enclave guy, annoyed him a lot, he dispatched the vertibirds but nobody turned up... not even after a week of walking around and returning to Gecko... What was supposed to happen? I understood that somebody is supposed to come and shoot me down.

I noticed somebody else had this bug where upon leaving arroyo for the first time i constantly enter ISO view every few seconds! i also read about how he dealt with the problem and so tried it myself

have reinstalled several times on two different Hard disks and i am still getting this damn bug could somebody please help me :(

When I get done with classes today, I shall post (to my fixes directory) a new ddraw file from Timeslip. This should probably fix the knockback issue as well as perhaps some other strange quirks.

**EDIT**
Heh, just used ssh on my laptop to put the new file up. Go to
http://www.killap.net/fallout2/expansion/fixes

Grab a file called ddraw.dll and save/copy it over to your main fallout 2 directory (the one with the exe file) and replace the dll there.

****!!!NOTE!!!****
This new file is ONLY for people running Windows NT, 2000, 2003, XP, VISTA.
****!!!NOTE!!!****

Right just replaced the ddraw.dll i'm running Xp and have full install all extras etc fully patched and such treid reinstalling several times on two hard drives as explained previously and have a character with every perk 300% on all skills 10 on all stats etc finesse and fast shot as traits, doctor, lockpick, speech, science as tags and still have the same problem of which when leaving arroyo for the first time i get constant blank ISO view's whilst travelling on the map presumably trying to get the encounter with Kaga but doesn't seem to work thus my bug :(

Just do the Corrections Center quests. You'll eventually get to the village.

I saved Joshua and there is no village :( .

Also I cant optimize Gecko power plant. I have data, I talk with proper person in Vault, but there is no dialouge line for this quest :/

I did and twice! :)

Kaga encounters are working fine now :)

A little nearly maybe-bug i picked up in klamath.
* Big nose Sally will remind you that baths are not for groups everytime you enter conversation with her.
Is there any way to make Torr comeback to Klamath after finishing quest "guard the brahmin"?

Oh and btw, i've had a crash during Lara's encounter today. This time it was with DamageFormula=1, so regardless if its on or off, crashes occur (very rare anyways), and it was not me firing the gun that crashed the game if anyone would wonder. Running on XP SP2.

Just a question regarding one of the game's perks. namely the dreaded Silent Death: was it supposed to work for unarmed only or for melee weapons as well? Since I surely can't tell it's working for my melee character, I was wondering, weather it was supposed to be that way by the developers AND honorable Killap, or is it bugged?
Oh, and I'm using the 1.1 version, which is truly awesome as of yet (except for the uber burst fire from some raiders... ouch, that surely hurts  ).

The Rangers in NCR are still a bit bugged. I've killed the slavers at their camp (which happens really early in the game every time...) then i get the reward in NCR for murdering their faces, i get the free the slaves from the Bazaar quest, after which i recieve the quest to kill the slavers in their camp... So i take the quest, i ask for backup, we go to the slaver camp (which is at this point empty) and... the rangers who accompanied me stand there, while the ranger chick in NCR keeps telling me i should wipe the slavers out quickly...
