* Looting Elder's items still not making a karma drop.
Did you wait a game minute before checking?

gracul said:
* I lockpicked Hakunins chest and got a message "you deftly steal the shamans things", so i check inventory and there is nothing inside, so i use the steal skill, and get the same message, still nothing inside, then i open the box and there is nothing inside anyway :P
Heh, forgot whether something was in there. I just applied the script to his chest since that was where the script said it was originally intended.

* Empty encounter after Kaga 1 - maybe because my game was at 10x speed.
Did you do a fresh install?

gracul said:
* Kaga encounter 1, after he close combat the 2 last dialogs just show up on each other and Kaga disappears, instead of running away.
Did you knock him out?

gracul said:
* Was fighting with keeng rat, i fire the pistol, suddenly game error... so i am like "wow, first time i get an error while using Glovz ammo script", i check the .ini file and nope, i forgot to turn it on, so im 99% sure its something else not Glovz ammo script.
Did you install the FO1 sounds at any point? Even if you did uninstall the game, some files might have been left behind. Be sure to completely delete the Fallout 2 directory (putting your save game files in a safe place of course).

Killap, what would you say if the beggining of this topic would contain a "current bug list", seeing as you won't have as much time as you did before? That way the bugs wouldn't need to be reported all over and over again... everyone then would know that the bug he found is acknowledged by you, and every bug that you fix, could be marked with like a "+" sign, so in like a month or two when you release 1.2 then the corrections list is obvious.
I wouldn't mind. Would keep things cleaner.

Now one thing I'm little unclear on - is this addon intended to change the balance of the game in any way, or is it strictly new content? I've noticed a few things, such as Flick no longer having the .44 Magnum, but I was wondering more about pure combat balance as opposed to market balance.

Basically, Sulik knocks people out with literally every other swing of his sledgehammer. Sometimes all I have to do is follow him around and loot the unconscious people in his wake. This seems to be the case for pretty much any melee attack. The knockout chance is extremely high, it almost certainly seems higher than fifty percent.
No items have been removed nor have I changed anything to unbalance weapons, etc.

I'm also having problems with encounter rates, too. Prior to this patch I used a separate encounter fix that replaced the worldmap.dat, and it seemed to be pretty balanced on all the computers I've applied it to (I did a clean install before applying your expansion, so that's not the issue). Right now with just your addon, I'm getting an average of five to six encounters per square. I literally can't move out of the Den without getting chopped to pieces by hordes of bandits with SMGs that I can't possibly handle at this point in the game. I understand and absolutely agree that moving across the wastes needs some element of risk, but it's not really so much a risk as it is a certainty that I'll be dead within two squares. The only way I've progressed even a fourth of the way to Vault City is by flagrant abuse of the save system.

I know that I can turn off the encounter fix but then I'm certain with my Dual Core processor that I'll go back to flying around the map and running into maybe one encounter every few towns. That kind of sucks a lot of the danger out of the game, and I'm hoping there's an alternative.
You're running version 1.1 of the expansion, right? I explain a few post back (page 3) about the encounter/map speed changes that took place in 1.1. The fact that you are running Dual Core (faster than mine) and still seeing tons of encounters is surprising. STill, read that post and let me know if that helps. I usually get 5-8 encounters from Klamath to the Den. Is this about what you get?

Double post, but important info from the gameplay thread:

how do I fix the well in primitive village, it says that rope and bucket are missing, i had rope with me by chance and there was a bucket laying around but for the life of me I can't do anything with them, can't use rope with the well neither from inventory nor from hand, and bucket is the same
So, did you get the quest from the guy standing nearby?

Oh, and I just realized that I had modified the well script (in 1.1) so you can still do the quest (based on perception check) despite not having been given the quest from the tribal. Though I made this change, I forogt to edit one last thing and thus none of my changes would take effect.

Grab the "tribei1.int" file from this link and save/copy it over to your Fallout2/data/scripts folder overwriting the script already there.

tribe well fix

umm, added this originally to my last message but killap already posted after it so I thought he might not read the previous stuff so here goes

that sulik knocking most enemies out happens here as well, even I do that pretty often with my fists, and I can't even do targeted because of fast shot(not a melee char). Then they mostly don't just get back up like they used to, but stay down for a long while, but they always jump back up when shot down by a gun.

One fight sulik knocked down two bandits and when one got up he started acting funny, each round he got back up and hit once, although he never got knocked down again

oh yeah forgot to mention, deadly afraid to go to melee because if they happen to knock you down you're out, once game even froze, when a low on hp cannibal hit me down and then ran away the game just stopped, music was playing but nothing else worked.

all right, now I can attach the rope to the well but not bucket, I use it from backpack menu but hothing happens

I'd like to ask a serious question here:

What goes through someones mind when they spend 2+ years to do a mod by themselves, for free, on their own time for this game? I mean I REALLY want to know what drives someone to do that. The dedication that it must have taken to do something like this. And it's not just a rinky dink "I added 3 new weapons and fixed a bug" type of mod, this is like a full blown "I studied the entire game and basically took it apart, replaced the old broken pieces, cleaned up the ones that did work and put it back together in an even more productive way" <_<

I tried to do 1 single player map for FOT and I gave up after like 2 days lol. You MUST share with me this information. I have never beat any of the Fallouts and to imagine you at your desk late at night doing this, gave me the fiery passion to install Fallout 2 and go balls to the wall and finish this game!(With both your unofficial patch and this mod. *howls*

Yep, i did.

The weird part is - using lockpick displays the "you deftly something something steal" message.

Yes, and deleted all the files from the previous install, but like i said it was on 10x speed, and i don't think we can predict what will happen with the engine on 10x...
killap said:

Nope, i've even reloaded to check and he just disappeared after closing combat (i don't have the savegame now).
EDIT: got a savegame, gonna email.

No FO1 sounds, like i said earlier.

Did you see my "EDIT" in the last post? Was about Torr not returning home after finishing quest "guard the brahmin"

I got three one time, none another time, then five the third time. I guess that seems fairly normal. It's the mountains east of the Den where I run into enemies every two seconds. I had always assumed that, going by difficulty, Modoc was the next stop of natural progression after the Den. I simply cannot get there. I suppose I'll have to rethink my strategy.

That doesn't change my observations concerning melee combat, though. As I recall, a knockout was normally a rarity, and you usually had to be aiming for the head to achieve it. Like I said, Sulik gets knockouts constantly. He took three swings at a Gecko, and every single one was a knockout. He knocks people out who are already knocked out. I was struck by a few bandit spears and knives, and got knocked out three times consecutively. Literally every other melee hit seems to be a knockout at times.

What's interesting is that I haven't seen a single knockback. Normally sledgehammer and spear hits, especially crits, result in the enemy being thrown back and sliding across the ground for a distance. That hasn't happened even once in my new game. Everyone just gets knocked out right where they stand.

Is this compatible with the megamod? Or if not , are there any plans to make it compatible?

I never played modded Fallout, so im so eager to try out the nice things you guys did, but i would be most happy if i could try out all the best mods at once, not by trying it out seperately

@killap :

Hey, you know, i think the bug is due i use win98... maybe in the Primitive Tribe there is something (like a FRM perhaps) causing the crash? to be a script bug, is like weird (still my knowledges about scripting are minimal :P ).
I think i've found another bug... it's in Arroyo, when you talk to Jason (the one who teaches Gecko hunting techniques, Northeast to the giant head) i can't get the dialogue screen... Jason only answers with that phrases in yellow over the NPC's

oh, BTW... i've tried the Flint fix and it works perfect :D

Thank you very much

@Polynikes

Hey man, i've exactly the same problem... i'm talking about that with killap... take a look on my replies

see ya
Just for your information, Killap, I also crash to the desktop with no error message; sometimes my normal resolution and colors are intact, sometimes it crashes and the colors get really weird, like shades of brownish-gray, and the resolution is still right, but that may be a VM thing.

It would appear it's a Win98 problem. Can anyone else confirm this problem on a Win98 machine?

puszki: Have you gotten to EPA yet? (I haven't.) I'm curious if the game is crashing only because of something wrong with Primitive Tribe or if all the new locations will cause this.

allright another bug, in Modoc when I arm and drop the dynamite and get out of the toilet the party gets damaged but the building doesn't get blown up and when I go down the way is still blocked

second time it worked when I placed the dynamite in front of the cave in, so is it like sensitive to the location where you put it, really weird because it says that slightest spark would set it off :P

Ok so I got the empty encounter bug after uninstalling the game, deleting the entire fallout2 folder (including saves), and installingthe game followed by your 1.1 patch. However, I am experiencing an issue I can only describe as strange...a few weeks ago I installed your unofficial patch, and afterwards my savegames disappeared. Usually they stay there and just won't load, but I started the game and there were no save slots used. I brushed it off since I was planning to start a new game anyway. Now, after I reinstalled everything, those old save games are back! I even tried deleting program files/black isle/fallout2/data/savegame, though that folder was empty. I cannot for the life of me figure out where those save games are stored on my disk, and I fear that this means the current version I have may be contaminated by old files, possibly causing this bug. Has anybody experienced something similar to this? Running Vistax64.

Edit: I should mention that my current save games are not being stored within the main fallout2 directory, but rather into this mysterious "ghost" directory from save games past!

I found a bug in Vault City. I've gained access to the main area by showing off my Vault 13 suit and now everyone thinks I'm a Citizen even though all I have is a Day Pass.

Interesting, so the crashes are only occurring with those on win 9x (win 95, 98). Can others confirm this?

Might have something to do with the sfall.dll file (the one specific to win9x and compiled differently from the ddraw.dll file for XP, Vista, etc) from Timeslip. He compiled the latest version differently than he normally does but he said that no issues came up in his testing. Perhaps his tests weren't over a long enough period of time. The fact that it can be reproduced in the same location, since if it was an issue with the sfall.dll the crashes would probably be random. Still, I'll get in touch with Timeslip and see what we come up with.

Oops, my mistake. Grab the file again.

The new second way (based on PE check) should finally work properly now. Still, the original way of getting the quest was from the guy near the well. This way works just fine.

It's a known but obscure way to get into Vault City, not a bug. If you think everyone think you are a Citizen, try get into the Vault. Only Citizens can get in there

Primitive Tribe area: Well, this is a normal area, no dialog with Sulik, no textbox appearing, no sister quest. I solve the weapons quest, the firewood quest, the hunting party quest, the ghost quest. But no Sister quest ( I didnt join the slavers. Me tribal, freedom loving. Me no servant or hunt servant). BUG??? How to advance?
{I visit the NCR but havent done anything there yet}

I had this too (and reported it) on Kaga encounter #2.

If many people have the same bug, it's more likely that it's actually a bug, so I guess it's still good that different people report the same thing. Remember, already in these 5 pages many people didn't follow the install instructions in the first post. :/

Maby a little side note on balancing:

I think that you get to much reward if you decide to kill all the slavers in their camp near the Den...

I have a Powerfist, 2 Rippers and a Combat Shotgun.

Isn't it way too early for these weapons?

I know it's a way to enter Vault City, it's how I usually get my Day Pass. I got my Day Pass out of it, but now everyone calls me Citizen, including Maclure and Lynette, and I can enter the vault without any problem. I've got all the dialogue options for saying that you're a new citizen, so something tripped the script for becoming a Citizen when I got my Day Pass.

I'm experiencing this too -- it's currently not much of a problem, but I think it might be in the two melee arenas. Almost every other hit is either a knockdown or a knockout.

(Installed 1.02 official patch, then the 1.1 restoration patch over it, everything but children and Cassidy's talking head.)

Hehe, color me embarrassed then

As to Primitive Tribe, how the heck do I get the quest or the location of the slave camp to rescue the sister? I thought I have to wait until NCR Rangers to get it, but no such luck. And did anyone notice the safe house near the Den and Klamath got all the Rangers killed? Intriguing!

Since this is directly contrary to the instructions, is there a special reason why?
