Re: target function not working

Hello
First of all, killap thanks for the restoration project.
Now i am having a problem. I started fresh with 1.2. Played a while then realized that the target icon don't appear on the lower right corner on weapon box. Right click does nothing! But If i start a new game its working fine. What can i do to fix this. I don't want to start a new game again.

Maybe you picked the Fast Shot trait?

Update, NPC armor mod: I just found out I can't actually delete the base protos for NPCs. Like a deranged ex-girlfriend, they refuse to go away. The game will just restore them every time I boot it up. Even when I set the folder to read-only the game insists on reinserting them.

yes i did :oops:
sorry it seems it has been too long since i played with that skill and i have forgotten much :lol:
changed it to Bloody Mess with falche problem solved. Thanks

Is there any way to add a dialogue option? One choice to continue to fight and one to scare him away? I don't know.

We get a dialogue window to talk to that stupid Hermit in a random encounter, (that never has anything to say or sell,) but no options with a much more meaningful encounter like Kaga.
The non joke diplomatic path does have a dialogue window. You get this if you have speech >100. You can either fight him or talk him down. Are you not running the fixes listed on the first page?

My question still remains open.

What do others think about changing the diplomatic path to the final Kaga encounter? I know many of the diplomatic characters were slaughtered during this one but was it also very difficult to handle the other 3 encounters before it? (1st one doesn't count since anyone can survive it)

@encinodude
Yes, they are created every time you play the game. I am in contact with Timelsip and we are looking into something. Don't want to get hopes too high though.

@killap,

Sorry, I did apply all the fixes, but have 10 luck and didn't think I had any choice on the second encounter. :(

Oh, yes, the joke encounter. So, I have decided to modify that so despite having >=9 luck, you have a 50% chance of getting it. This new script has not been released though.

Erhm there is a third encounter? damnit marcus killed him on the second :P

im sorry io cannot give any info on the third encounter marcus and his heavy weapons were too much... critical hit ...

does my Sniper perk get to my fellows aswell? they seem to have quite a lot of criticals of their own ... in fact .. (marcus killd half of my party while in vault 13 -.- tried to kill marc but hit sulik and vic and turned them into swiss cheese...)
sulik and vic both had a hardened power armor!
we somewhat resemble the brotherhood of steel now with 2 power armors and one advanced power armor .... more to follow on the enclave oil rig...

ah well and what is the epa or where can i find it? i almost explored the whole map but i cannot find anything except the abbey the primitive tribe some safe houses and stuff like that ...

ps., i must take a screenshot of my worldmap ... its so funny .. i had almost every special encounter while running from vault city to gecko and back ... there are so many green dots on the map and you can't read a single name anymore :)

Oh yeah, just remembered, this happened a loooooong while ago in my game, but when I was repairing the Gecko plant I pissed off the Enclave but never got the Verti-Assault encounter.

@ killap

I'm having problems with leaving the oil rig and the endgame... using the vertibird.

1. When stepping on to the elevator, most of the time the "choose level "screen comes up just before the movie is played and then disappear behind it. It distort the movie and I can't click the movie away. Yeah, I can push 1 or 2 to get the dialog screen away (and distort the movie even more). It would be better if you could change the teleportation to Navarro to after you choose to go up to the landing pad, and not when you step on the elevator.

2. After the endgame movies I either get thrown out to the start menu right away, or sometimes I see Navarro for a split second first, and then it fades into white, and then I'm back to the start menu. I can't continue playing...

Save Game here.

Excellent, someone who made it to the end and took the vertibird. I was waiting for this. Please provide me with a save game.

@GlowHound
I mention the problem with the gecko assault some pages back. The RP wiki also has info on this. Basically, only 2 of the 3 options you pick will lead to the assault. All three should, so I will be changing this.

Alright, I've just left Redding, and I've got some more (very) minor bugs to report.

But first, one more thing about the Slaver Camp that I noticed: When traveling from the Slaver Camp to Sukil's Tribe with his sister, no time passes at all.

Now for Redding:

1. If you talk to Madame Madjeska and ask her why people call her that, she'll say, "I used to work in the Malamute Saloon. As part of that job, people called me Madame. The name just stuck, even though I don't work there any more."

One of your response options is, "Uh, not really. Let me ask you something else." Which doesn't make much sense.

2. While doing the quest, "Find out who cut the whore." I talk to Lou the bar tender and at one point it says she gives me a morning star mine script. However, it doesn't show up in my inventory (It seems this bug was in the vanilla game as well).

I like the way you did the second encounter. Why not do the same with the encounters after that? That way people with a high speech can choose how many times they wish to encounter Kaga, and can end it on any encounter after the first.

On a related note, is there any chance you'll have the first Kaga encounter open up in a window? I ask because when I played a weak non-combat character, Kaga killed me on the first encounter four times in a row. It got very tedious to wait for the entire conversation each time (I know this is pretty much a non-issue for a normal game, as you only need to hit Kaga once to end the encounter, but I had terrible combat skills and only 2 endurance).

My de-leveled Vic won't fire a gun anymore. Maybe a savegame editor could fix this? (temporarily)

@SSgt Curious

Check Per's guide for the exact way of doing it. Also, until I make an update, make sure you don't choose the line about being across the hall. If you do, then you will miss out on the encounter.

yep that explained it. thanks.

On a side note, on pg 14 i posted an app error that i could get beyond. I finally restarted my game and was able to move past it by doing things in a different order, but you never responded so i was just wondering if you missed the post. thanks again.

Anyone else have the game not work on the Sanfransico Unarmed fights?

It starts the battle and says "Fight" on the screen and nothing happens. If I innitiate combat and kill the enemy, nothing happens afterwords and I am stuck. If I knock him out and exit combat, when he wakes up he doesnt attack me.

I have a save right before fighting. i can send it if you'd like.

Maybe he just has no more ammo? I thought this was happening to Sulik until I remembered how fast SMGs eat ammo.

I checked it again and it seems he forgot how to use rifles, but pistols are still ok.

same here ... but for me it happened in reno too .. in fact i was too powerful i think .. the first two boxers ran away from me and my jab to the head killed them on the first hit -.-

@Wamphyri

Tha'ts awesome for Reno. I did Reno fine, one-shotted every round and it gave me the Prizefighter title. So that worked fine, but San Fran disappointed. Especially since I hadn't saved in a few towns and got locked up in San Fran. I was a bit irked, but it made me remember to save before doing it a second time.
