Re: BUG: Can't get into Carlson's house

I can't enter Carlson's house ALTHOUGH I have both talked to Merk (gave him $50 for info on security), and stole Gunther's papers (and tried using it on the guard in-front of the entrance).

Both of these methods would work in the vanilla version (as well as in the RP 1.2).

This is quite a deal breaker for me, as I very much like blowing him up :-)

Has anyone else encountered this?

P.S.
Great work on the RP,
thanks for anyone who was involved.

They only way to assassinate Carlson without beeing shot afterwards is to disable the forcefield emitters, then go in and pass the small gate to the lower right garden and shoot him through the window. The guards won't attack you if you manage to kill him in 1 attack.

I found two bugs.

1. In Broken Hills, when you confront Francis over the murdered people and then convince him to leave, the game will crash with a memory error right after the dialog is exited.

2. In Modoc, agree to find Johnny and take Laddie with you. Take the quest to find out about the Ghost Farm, then get the message from the Slaags. Find Johnny and tell him you will bring him home. After you head back to Modoc to deliver the message, if you talk to Balthas, his dialog will be screwed up, and will display little bits of the Mayor's dialog instead with only one option "Go on" which will exit the dialog.

Hello all! This is my first post. ;)

Thanks for the great patch.

I'm using Win 7 64 bit, and the game doesn't start. It loads the first grey screen with a message to wait, ...and hangs.
I installed the game on C:\F2 folder, apllied the F2_Restoration_Project_2.0, set the screen to 1680x1050, 16bit, and nothing.

Please help. :(

Looks like Balthas' dialogue tree is borked then; I reported pretty much the same bug, except with Cornelius' dialogue. I'm guessing that talking to him between finding Johnny & taking Johnny home causes him to mimic the dialogue of whatever previous character you talked to.

How am i actually supposed to fix the epa lights?
I think i have found the good generator. Description says "epa lighting", and it makes some strange noise: *bzzzt* *wrhii* ....

I have 10 intellect (with mentats) and more than 70% in science and repair.
With science i fail to learn anything, same when myron tries.
Repair is probably the weirdest, since it says everything works fine.
I've tried junk, super tool kit, and small machinery parts but to no effect.
Have i missed something or is it a bug?
Have you actually gotten the quest to fix it yet?

im stuck in this too.
how do you get the quest?

for that first bug, check the fallout technical wiki(where your bugs should be put) there's a link there to a fix for it.

[spoiler:c157e595e6]Well, maybe you need to fix something to do with them first. Check the nearby computers.[/spoiler:c157e595e6]

is the only way to convince shadow-who-walks to leave the raiders is by taunting him? I couldn't seem to persuade him that they were not rangers, but raiders. I feel like I could show him bishop's holodisk as proof in the 1.2, but it's been a while

Found 2 bugs so far:

BH:

After talking to Francis about the note, when i agree to him leaving the town I get a crash.
Also I'm not able to tell that guy who misses his wife that he got killed.

BTW. Great work with the RP2.0

epa green level turns like this after fixing lights

also, in epa quest list appears " fix voice computer", but the hologram said to fix robot commands computer , maybe quest title is wrong.

also i cannot complete that quest. run de diagnostic in the computer and points to loose wiring. after that, repair and science takes no effect and the diagnostic option is gone. also tried a lot of items.

savegame

What you see are roof tiles, where there is not supposed to be any.
Not sure why .Pixote put it there (or if its just a bug from the Mapper he uses). Anyway, sometimes the game don't recognize that you are standing under the roof so it don't remove it. This happens mainly (or only) when you are loading a game where you are standing under a roof. It's a common occurrence in Navarro.

@ Hauptmann,

Fix for Francis here...http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=762770#762770

I was in Klammath and randomly, the dialogue went all crazy when I looked at the bulletin board entering the den... fucked up XD

is that hardcode 20 with only critters on the map?ie 20 critters and no animate forever on each elevation?
Nirran I don’t fully understand what the game is doing but basically there is a limit as to how many animated objects/critters the game can render at one time – 20 is the limit. Once you reach the limit all further animated objects/critters will remain frozen. In combat, frozen critters will cycle through their combat routines, but it is an unforeseen consequence of the new maps and the extra animated scenery. Maybe someone with a good understanding of Sfall can bypass this issue. That’s why I S.O.S yourself and Timeslip.

yeah, no one read the desciption of the "old rusty fan". i also used the metal pole on the wrong fan, my first time...suggestion: prefer to see some floating text of "rusting noise" to beg me to use the metal pole on the correct fan...
The old rusty fan should have had a floating text “rattle”, like what is found in Vault City. It would have made life a little easier for the explorers in the EPA. I’m sure this and the obvious fan bug will be rectified in a future release.

he bridgekeeper also has purple robes on, but its supposed to be brown, thus the joke in the desription, "why is it purple"
The bridge keeper was originally brown (the brown critter has very few combat animations), that’s why after you kill the bridge keeper the robe found on his body is purple (that critter has the full range of combat animations). I decided it was preferable to change the critter appearance to purple to match his robe color. Potentially the purple critter could be recolored into a brown version, but that would be a mammoth task.

UnoriginalPizza said:
seems like you revamped her basement entirely
The basement is basically the same. It’s just been boxed in black, all of the items and scenery that were there in the original are still there. My intention with FEMP (Fallout 2 Enhanced Map Project) was to make the maps somewhat grittier and believable, as well to improve the light conditions, not to mess with the original design.

XP
US 1.0 (I think)
Using all but Sulik/Vic/etc. armor mod

I'm not sure if this has been reported yet, but the character creation save places the new character into the appearance folder, but then the load function tries to consult the data folder.

Also, though the character I created was female, the corresponding picture was of a male in the preview. The character ended up looking like a proper female though. (may not be worth fix...)

And in resolution setting the 8 or 16-bit setting says "colour's"

I never changed the fundamentals on those levels of the EPA – I thought Chris Parks did an excellent job. Ultimately the lower EPA levels – which are based on one map, might need to be split on to two separate maps. Those roof tiles were designed to block the PC from seeing the other areas on the same level. Splitting the maps and removing the tiles might be the best solution. :look:

I agree, the bridge keeper's robe should remain brown while he's wearing it. Not only does that allow him to more closely resemble the Holy Grail character he's a parody of, but, like Unoriginal Pizza pointed out, the joke in the robe item's description doesn't make sense otherwise. I'm sure if the original developers intended for him to wear a purple robe, they would have done so.
I never read the description on the robe carefully…seems like the brown robed critter will be restored…nice find Dravean and Unoriginal Pizza . :twitch:

You need to have a repair skill of at least 76% to be able to repair it. There is a small bug here in that if your skill is less than 76 but over 50, you get no message saying "You do not have the ability to fix this machine".

Oh I see. To split the maps seems like a lot of work though. I wonder if there is a way to force the game to not show the roof tiles you are under at load up. Probably handled by the engine...

It would be easy to fix the maps, just make extra copies and delete all of the unwanted areas on one, then the others. Rename them and let Killap adjust the scripts…surprisingly dims mapper is the better tool for removing artwork on a large scale. I will wait for Killaps response…

I wasn't aware of that, I'll look into it.

That shouldn't happen, does it happen every time? What are the circumstances?

I've never won an award for my spelling a grammar and I probably never will :) . I'll fix it next time I update the Hi-Res patch.
