It says in readme of the manual installation that you don't need any official or unofficial patch to play RP 2.0, so you can install it over 1.0. Correct me if I'm wrong.

gracias, I was confused since in the 1.2 thread it says to apply the patch

This is the best easter present you could give to us killap, thank you and your helper's for this great mod!.

Well sir, looks like you've provided much of my entertainment over easter - congratulations & many thanks! =]

P.S. Heh, perhaps the least appropriate day imaginable to release it though (April 1st) =P

It seems I have a little bug (al least I think): I have made a fresh installation of Fo2 snd I tried it and everything worked fine, than I installed Killap's RP: the rock is present in front of the temple of trials and i can see the change in the main screen, but now I seem to miss a sound when I hit the ants inside the temple when i use unarmed attacks, they do their own noises but there is none when I hit them. I am playing in Vista.
Edit: Even during the fight with the other tribe man at the end of the temple, I can' t hear the sound when i hit him, but I hear it when he hits me.

1. Sound problem confirmed, and I think that it has no connection to music path in fallout2.cfg, as the path is normal.
yep, this.

So it's finally here. Wohoo :dance:

About the sound problems, it's the Hero Appearance Mod's fault.
From ddraw.ini:
Code:
;Set to 1 if using the hero appearance mod
;NOTE: This must be enabled for the Fallout 2 Restoration Project to function properly
EnableHeroAppearanceMod=1
Set that to "0" and the sound works as normal again.

Disclaimer: I don't know exactly what this mod does, so before everyone starts disabling it you should maybe wait for word from killap first.

I'm speechless... Awesome job. I'm going to enjoy this soooo much. Best April 1st ever!

Awesomeness. I'll download and begin bug-weeding right away. Is this the final release of F2RP (patches aside), or is there even more content planned?

Mash's "Hero Appearance mod" which allows for appearance selection on the game's character creation screen.

basically lets you choose the long haired hombre.

I'm turning it off

2. If I try to use Sfall settings to change resolution, the game restarts, but shows "Failure initializing input devices" error. The only remedy is to reinstall RP 2.0
That's not the only remedy at all; the normal method to configure sfall is via ddraw.ini. Mash's res patch provides shortcuts for modifying a couple of the more common options in game, but if you manage to break things such that you can't get in game to change them back, just modify ddraw.ini directly to get things working again.

Regarding that particular error, it's a fairly common one when using a dx9 graphics mode with dodgy focus stealing background apps running. As such, it's addressed in sfall's faq. Not sure if the faq is included with the RP, but if it's not the way to work around it while still using sfall to scale resolution is to change the backgroundkeyboard/mouse lines to 1.

That 'NOTE: This must be enabled for the Fallout 2 Restoration Project to function properly' line is something killap added, so I would guess it's supposed to be left enabled...

That line controls the addition to the character creation screen of being able to choose the players graphics style. If killap has scripts that try and read in/change the characters appearance then turning it off will screw things up even if you pick the default character. It's Mash's work, but from what I understand of it, it has no reason to mess up sounds... I'll try and look into it tomorrow if Mash doesn't get there first.

In ddraw.ini there is a section which states:

Code:
;Set these to 1 if you want fallout to access the keyboard or mouse in background mode
;Try these if you get the 'Failure initializing input devices' error
BackgroundKeyboard=0
BackgroundMouse=0

Have you tried enabling those?

It seems that the lack of music is due to an error in the fallout2.cfg file... After changing the lines music_path1 e music_path2 to the right path, it seems to work... I still lack the sound, tough...

I seem to have a problem / bug with the world map, when traveling the game runs very slow and acts like I get an encounter but I end up on an empty map every few seconds.

I also have the sound bug.

I'm running the Steam version of F2 on Vista x64

edit:

Installed the GOG version of F2, now I get the following error when trying to start the game :|

Got a little problem. I uninstall RP 1.2 and try to install UP, but it tells me that I cannot install UP over RP. :confused:
Is there anything in the registry I should clean?

EDIT: Found it. I deleted the entity under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARPCache\ then everything works fine. :D

You probably need to reinstall Fallout 2 and then install the patch. I had the same problem when I tried to install RP2.0 and unistalling F2 and then Installing F2 again helped me.

Oh shit, this just looks too suspicious. I'm downloading it anyway. :P But if this is real, I've got 5 free days too!

trying to get it setup

in the options menu you click SCRN

but then it gives you 2 options one 'Hi-res' the other 'SFALL'

If I try to go to sfall and turn on directx9 mode I get a d3dx9_42.dll is missing

I think my dx9 is updated to 9.0c should I search for that file and put it in fallout2 dir?

Thank you bear dude!
