Hi Killap, everyone.

I just installed the lastest version of the restoration project, fired up a new game, new character, and found that now I can no longer create a new saved game. I click "save game", choose any slot, be it an unused on or to overwrite a previous game save, it doesn't matter, all I get is "error, game cannot be saved" or the like.

That's 90 mins of my life I won't get back. :(

Any help?

I'm using Win ME, an earlier version of the restoration project was working fine.

Thx.

Any help for me?

Yesterday I uninstalled everything, the entire game, RP, patches etc. Deleted all remaining folders too. Did a clean install of the game. Opened it, started a new char then saved the game. All fine so far.

Then I installed the latest version of the Restoration Project, rebooted, loaded the game, hit "new game", created character, then tried to "save game" and it won't do it.

I've got this game on one of my old computers, using Windows ME.

Not sure what to do here.

Any help for me?
Perhaps Arasteele...

It sounds like the master.dat file didn't get patched properly.
First of all, did you make a humongous install? A full install of the game is absolutely necessary, without that the master.dat can't get patched.
If you do have the master.dat file already, but it just refuses to get patched, you can try to do it manually.
Download the manual version of the RP and use the batch files from there. You only need the files from the "batch_work" folder (the instructions on how to do it is in the readme file for the manual install ), no need for anything else.

Addictive Substances in Fallout 2 + Restoration Project

Apparently you can get addicted to Jet as in the vanilla version, yet there has been added other addictions like, alcohol, and addiction to some game.

I wonder how these addictions work, how can you return your poor character, (who's life has been ruined by these addictions), to state of normality of a reformed-addict?

So I've been playing my way through Fallout 2 with the Restoration Project installed, and I've been wondering if the restoration project includes a way to launch the hubologists into orbit. I know it was intended as part of the original game, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get them launched. Is there a way to do so?

Dude, you have all those new pots, carpets and pipes, and all you can think of is gameplay expansion? You're weird.

Just forget about hubologists flying into space, or riding those Enclave choppers. We need to shorten the gameplay as much as we can to squash all the bugs.

I did do the humongous install, yes.

I'll try your suggestion. Thx.

Strange, I've tried all these methods before and it didn't work. Since then, I've figured I don't need to save the game anyway, and I just play it until I die. Just like in real life. :)

"Dude", if I want gameplay expansion, that's my problem. I'm not asking someone to include it into the game, I'm just asking if it exists.

Besides, saying that they "need to shorten the gameplay" (and exactly what part do you play in the "we", anyway?) just shows that you're in the wrong place. This is the Restoration Project, not a patch. New content that extends and completes the storyline is an integral part of this thing.

If anyone has a real answer for my question, please respond.

tried to PM you, I keep getting the following error
Vault Tech Error sending Email to Pipboy :: PHP ::
That apparently started when the admins modified the phpBB (forum) software after some guy hacked the NMA user database. The PMs are still being sent, though, so it looks like if you get that message, it should be interpreted as a "PM sent" confirmation message. It's my understanding that the admins are working to upgrade the entire forum system to something other than phpBB, so they probably won't bother fixing this bug. (Maybe it wouldn't hurt to ask, though. ...)

Will that be soon? Could I edit Skynet back into my party in the meantime?

Don't worry about Skynet...it's a pretty useless NPC as is, Killap mentioned the next release, and possibly the last release of the RP, will be here about the end of the year (fingers crossed).

Skynet is my pal. :( It's a lot better than the new EPA NPCs, but it's them or Myron.

Edit: You can't tell me a popular game that's been around this long doesn't have a way to edit in party members.

Okay, I'm back. I wanted to play a little to make sure all was in order with my game before returning to comment.

Here's what I found...

In downloading and performing the manual install of the RP I found that it worked, I can now create new saves in my game. I believe the problem was that some of the files weren't loaded with the automatic installation I tried. In going through the manual install process I noticed this, and once those files were put in place and the manual install process finished, the game finally worked (as in allowed me to save).

A few things noted while playing however....

My game crashes whenever I get into a random encounter involving the .223 Pistol (.233? I forget). Like, whenever it's a gang where any of the attackers has one, the game crashes. Every time. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I notice that through frequent chem use my player is retaining some of the extra points permanently. For example, you get into a fight where you think you need the extra APs so you use a few jet. That also ups a few of your trait levels like Strength. My char had a normal Str level of 8 during part of the game, but now after frequent uses of chems that level is permanently at 10. Perception also got a permanent boost I notice, it was 7, now it's 9 and it won't go back down to normal no matter how long I wait, rest, travel, etc. Anyone know why this is? I've never noticed this happening before installing the RP.

The random encounter levels are set way too high. I realize a way to reduce it has been posted somewhere (I'm sure I saw it mentioned), I'll go look for it, but just wanted to say that I found the number of forced random encounters (even with an outdoorsman rating of 100+) to be beyond insanity, and renders the game not unplayable but certainly borderline unenjoyable. I'm not sure why you guys decided to crank it up so high. Shouldn't the wastes be just that, wastes, and not so crowed that you're running into something every 1-3 millimeters on the map? I'm sure some will argue the point but for me it's way too much.

Overall I like what I see though, the RP is very much appreciated and has added renewed playability into this game. I haven't scratched the surface of experiencing all the changes it's brought, but thank you to all you guys who had a hand in it's making.

I just returned to the surface level of the EPA, and Skynet has vanished. :( What do I do?

I had Sulik disappear on me at his village in a recent game I had going. He stayed as usual to "say his goodbyes", I went and did some quests for the villagers, but when I went to get him back in my party I found he'd simply vanished completely. As in gone, and no matter how many times I went back there to look for him he never returned.

But I can see losing Skynet being extra frustrating, since it takes quite a bit of work to even get him in your party. I imagine it feels kind of like all that gameplay, time and effort is lost, no? Skynet may not be the MVP of the team but he IS an achievement of sorts, and if given the right weapon and the right combat instructions he can be quite an effective ally.

I now always try to save, and then save again in a new slot before heading into any new location, just so I have a previous recent save handy just in case.
