This is it, the big one. After 3 years of intense work, killap the Bear Dude has released the final version of the Restoration Project, bringing Fallout 2 closer to the original vision by reimplementing scores of features that did not make the cut all the way back in 1998. However, don't take it from us, listen to the Bear Dude himself:
Now come 2013, RP 2.2 is being released. I believe that this version is what I had always envisioned the Restoration Project would become. If you were put off by older RP releases, please give it a try again. I think you'll be pleased. If you've been waiting 6 years to play the RP, well, now is your chance. And if you've already played it dozens of times before, rest assured there is new content for you to experience. Smile

Is this the end of Bear Dude's Fallout modding adventure? To me it is, but I've already said this before and I'll admit that anytime I see a bug reported for something I've worked on, I get the urge to squash it. So expect at least one more minor update down the road, especially since at the very least a Russian translation is in the works. But do know, that to me, I'm done.

Was all this worth the many, many thousands of hours I put in over the years to fix vanilla bugs and add new content? I think so. I had fun doing it and really, I just wanted others to get even more enjoyment out of a game they loved. I also like to think that in some way I inspired others to do modding of their own and to realize that just because a game is old it doesn't mean it has to be abandoned.
Eager to try it out? We salute you, killap. You are credit to Motherland!

Goddamn it, bear dude. How many final versions have we had? :P

Thanks for all the work! I'm sure I'll greatly enjoy it.

Installed Fallout 2 yesterday, evidently the post apocalyptic stars have aligned.

Killap is credit to team.

Does that mean I can finally fly that space ship? I always wanted to do that, but something was missing for it to lift off. I cannot remember whether it was fuel or something else. Maybe it wasn't possible at all. Maybe it is now?

final version

What if I play it and come up with a list of 478 remaining issues?
Honestly, I've always wondered if you had ever played a version of the RP yet. I'm curious to hear your thoughts, as well as from other veteran NMA members.

Will you release the script sources now? It might be quite interesting for modders, as right now, it's not really possible to do deeper changes to Fo2+RP.

Awesome!!!! Time for what could be my 100th play-through of Fallout 2 and they way the game was supposed to be(if they had the time).

Paypal donation option Killap? For all your hard work you should be rewarded.

I use to replay Fallout 2+RP something like once every 2/3 years.
It means i must have been through RP about three times.
Without RP i know i would have stopped to replay Fallout 2 a long time ago.
Thanks Killap, i think my next replay of F2 will be the last.
It was an amazing ride.

I enjoyed an earlier version of the RP, and I'm downloading the new one as I type. Thanks, Killap!

Great news! I've never actually finished any older version of RP, but I'll try to play this one out.

Good news! Not the biggest fan of Fallout 2 myself, but I always enjoyed the content Killap created and the maps Pixote overhauled. Downloading now! :)

It used to be that there weren't big enough time gaps in my guide update cycle to play the games just for fun. Then I hit kind of a snag in the cycle and let it drop, so I have hardly started up the games in years. It could very well be an excellent time to play the RP.

Anyone tried it yet? Needs any specific patch installed? Do you think Steam might be an issue here?

Thanks!

EDIT: Disregard this, found the link to the Bear Dude thread
