Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.2 - OPEN BETA (ie NOT FINAL)

YES! Just a week left now! Fallout 2 is already prepared..

Just a tiny question:

Can you tell us about the Plant quest in San Fran and the Heart Pills quest in NCR? Like, what are they about, etc.

But no spoilers, just an overview.

Killap, you are one awesome person

I loved the Restoration Project when it first came out, but only just discovered you were re-igniting it.

I just have one query about the new version, actually more of a question about an issue I faced on the old one - I've seen you post that it's not a bug on a wiki site, and suggested that the user check Per's guide, but I still am encountering this one in Broken Hills.

Vanilla Game:

Go to Broken Hills
Complete quest to fix the mine
Complete quest to find the bodies
Convince Francis to leave in search of atonement
Show note to Marcus and he puts the Mutant haters in jail
- at the end of the game, this gets you the good ending.

Restoration Project
Do exactly the same
- at the end of the game, get the racial wars ending.

Per's guide states:

- Mutants dead, BH disperses: Kill the mutants in the mine.
- Uranium runs out, BH disperses: Get Marcus to put the mutant-haters in jail.
- Racial wars erupt, BH disperses: Do neither of the above.

On the wiki, you posted:
NOT BUG - Looking the the variables in your save game, it appears that you did not tell Marcus about Dr. Henry's (NCR) intentions about the potential of their water being poisoned. - killap

On the board, you posted:
- Check Per's guide for location endings.

According to Per's guide, this was never necessary. All you have to do is fix the mine and put the mutant haters in jail. I have tried numerous ways, but always get the Racial Wars ending. Could you please have a look at this again and give us a step by step of the correct method in the Restoration Project?

It's really the only thing I ever found in there that I could call even close to a bug, but as it alters the ending it was annoying for me. The only other thing was personal preference that the last slide of the ending would have been better being the tanker vagrants still, but that's just me being theatrical.

Everything else was absolutely awesome, especially the Abbey, the Primitive Tribe and the EPA with the new recruit Kitsune. You have some awesome programming skills.

Maybe this was intentionally changed. IMO, if it's going to be changed, not telling him about the potential of their water being poisoned should lead to a mutants dead ending, though.

@JustinFF
It's not a bug. Because in RP 2.2 you also have to report Dr. Henry's experiment to Marcus to get the good ending.

It was "bugged" in old beta since you won't be able to report to Marcus if you got him join (dialog option disappeared), but now it's fixed. You can report to Marcus with him in your party if you're in Broken Hills.

I have to admit to never having seen this requirement before.

I take it you now have to:

Fix the mine
Put the mutant haters in jail
Go to NCR
Talk to Henry - the only thing I've got out of him though is a quest to stick a mutant with a syringe, with hilarious results. Is this what you have to report to Marcus or is it something else?

Yes, after getting the quest you can report to Marcus.
In older beta, you have to wait to recruit Marcus after the report for getting the good ending. Now as long as you and Marcus are in BH, you can always report to him.

The vault simply didn't open yet. Wait till the end of next nuclear war!

I wouldn't bet on it, it might be July 15th 2014 easily. The Bear Dude and his famous deadlines!
Heh, so you know this always happens because of the following situations:

1. I plan to work on it during the weekend or some set days and when the time comes I'm either not in the mood to code, too overloaded by work, or something else has pulled me away.

2. I finish everything and then need to wait on a task from someone. I then end up back in situation 1.

3. Somebody finds something that I need to dig back into, which adds more work that needs to be done. I could ignore this for a future version, but I treat every version like the last one. ;)

So yeah, it's a vicious cycle.

Anyway, everything is essentially in place and I need to copy over the latest sfall stuff. Then maybe look into something Darek brought up recently via pm. Then... Hey, see what I mean. ;)

I also need to go through all the doc files and make sure everthing is in order. Then I need to cleanup the wiki page and have it ready for future reports.

There's a lot that goes into a release and one man can only do so much.

It's after 7:30pm here, so I'm doubtful this will all occur today, but let's say the week of the 15th. :D

Big bear hasn't miss his target, it was initially planned release on the week of 15th july. Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhops!

killap,

I come every now and again to see any progress reports and I can't wait for the 2.2 to release!

Thanks for the work and dedication over the years you've done this. I always loved Fallout 2 and like many others here have played it a multitude of times.

BTW all, I see on the Steam Summer Sale all fallout games are for sale. Fallout Collection (1, 2 and Tactics) is $10. 3 GotY and New Vegas are $5 each!

Cheers!

Hey, Killap.

I got some text bugs to check out for you. You know, speaking about stuff poping off that needs fixing. Sent a PM.

Working on Russian RP translation as we speak. Was a little nightmare figuring out how to merge everything together. Couple previous RP translations and new text for 2.2beta. But got it done, now just a matter of translating and editing.

Now everybody's gonna hate me, but can I ask to wait till I'm done, couple weeks?)) Otherwise I guess it won't make into the installer and I have to release it separately.

No reason to delay the release for a language pack. Once you (your team?) is done and the files are submitted to killap, he can release an updated installer that includes the RU translation and the (presumably) current hotfixes.

Cool, I'll check these out. Doesn't look like anything major.

Glad things are rolling. It will be great to get all these translations back on track.

The vicious cycle!

Heh, I remember saying 2.2 was supposed to be the return of all the translations.

I agree with agris though. A language pack update will come later; this release needs to get out. And maybe I'll try and get back in contact with the German/French/Polish teams again in the meantime.

Yep, fair enough. Not gonna stall anybody's work.

Well, sounds like a plan then. I'll PM you, Killap, when it's done.

Hi, first time post, but I noticed that Rainman's Blonde Female Character is going to make it into the final release of RP 2.2. I did some searching in other topics (not very thorough though) about redheads and nothing mentioned that Rainman also did complete redhead female frms, here is link to his site:
http://olympus2207.com/load/interna...rainman_s_f2_critterpack_redheadgirl/5-1-0-23. Are u guys planning to add this option too or u already did and didn't mention it?

Thakns for your awesome work!
I know you are working hard but Ineed to know this.
Will there be an German Version of this awesome Project?
