In the future some of the maps will have some of the "extra scenery" reduced somewhat.
I don't mind the scenery so much. When I say "almost too many" I just mean there are so many locations now you can sort of get lost when it comes to advancing the main quest. Or you can advance the main quest and ignore most of the new locations, which is also a bit frustrating. It's a lot like how Arcanum feels.

Locations and NPCs in Arcanum tend to be bit too generic sometimes and that's not the case in Fallout 2 really.
Also if you want to play main story, it's not that hard to follow the thread. And if you want to experience thorough playthrough, then finding locations in F2 is also pretty easy.

It has been 20 days since killap's last post here, hope nothing going wrong on his end.

I heard from killap recently. He said he's doing well, but he's gotten busy with other things in life. He doesn't expect to get back to Fallout modding until early November.

Yea I see, fair enough, thanks for informing dude.

I love it, Killap! Been playing 2.2 for a few days now, and I'm absolutely in love with it! I can't believe how much work you've put it into this... you're a god among men.

However, I do have one question (which I was unable to find the answer to)... see, I've talked to Lenny the Ghoul about Cassidy's heart problems, and I've been told to check out either Vault City or NCR for a "cure" to his heart problems... The heart Pills were part of a quest in the Abbey, so I assume they're not the actual cure, correct?

Is it all a red herring and Cassidy can't really be cured, or have I overlooked something major/minor?

The heart pills are still the solution for his heart problem. You can get another heart pills in EPA if you already gave the one in NCR to the Abbey monk.

Ah, thanks mate! Yeah, I haven't gone to the EPA yet in this playthrough. I'll make sure to grab the pills when I do go there, though. If I remember correctly you can make 'em with that "Mr Chemmie" machine, right?

Also, is it enough to just use the pills on Cassidy, or does he need to have them in his inventory?

Damn, I wish he would have released what was already fixed before he took off. Wanted to get a playthrough in before the Wasteland 2 beta got released. Looks like I'll have to split my time between the two.

Yeah that's always a dilemma with modders.... do you release small updates more often that might introduce new issues? (since they haven't been tested thoroughly) . . . Or do you make everyone wait longer between larger releases, making sure they are fully tested, meaning any issues with the current version will exist for quite a while between the update(s).

Not sure which is preferable  Personally I think small releases is better so that larger bugs (crashes etc) get out to the public sooner.

What gets to me is that he fixed 95% of the bugs on the wiki in a couple of weeks, with the remaining 5% being things so minor that they didn't NEED to be in the patch, and then just left us all hanging for nearly a month just as we expected a release. Seriously his last post was about how he went through the dialogues and removed extra spaces... really? I think that's release ready if you ask me.

Not to mention he gave us 3 different ETA's before finally just disappearing without explanation or the courtesy to tell the people who are holding off on playing the game because of the patch. He's been dangling the carrot on the stick. Don't get me wrong, while I admire him for all his hard work and it wouldn't even exist without him it still feels like a kick in the balls and borderline rude when you sit down and think of how this whole situation played out. Though I'm sure the consensus is going to be that I'm a rude self entitled asshole, and that is probably true :)

I'm really looking forward to this release as well, so I too was bummed when I learned it had been put on hold for another few weeks when it was so close to completion.

However, killap is one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure of being virtual chums with and I know it wasn't ever his intention to be rude or to dick around the fans.

Such is life, as the Arroyo's Hakunin says, my
rude self entitled asshole.
:)

And since it is a FREE project Killap can say f*ck you all and never release anything. It's his right. Do not complain about free, as my mom used to say.

Do Killap release his source code? Will he eventually (for example, he said this will probably be his last release, but if he chooses to release his code, too, someone else, maybe even myself, could pick it up to fix whatever slips into that one).

No no no, work on the Engine Conversion instead :D

@ leandro213

Please pull your head in...after working on this project for 8 years Killap can do whatever he likes. It's easy for people to complain about not getting the latest release, as it suits them, but for fucks sake the amount of work that has been fed into the RP over the years runs into the 3000+ of hours. The game will never be perfect, every bug will never be squashed, but that shouldn't stop people playing and enjoying the game.

Now I have to go through all the maps for the 50th time, and clean up the superfluous crap I placed there, only because I want the final release to be the best release. People need to be patient and understanding.

The RP is very enjoyable as it is, trust me. I've played the game very thougougly just recently and despite many bugs I've reported, only very small number of them are major (if any). And most of the quest bugs are avoidable.
So yeah, wiki's overflowed with bugs at first glance, but players probably won't notice or even won't encounter most of them.

Hello everyone. I created this account specifically just to thank everyone who was/is behind the Fallout Restoration Project. This mod has brought so much life into this game and I am very grateful for having stumbled across this site while cruising through the internet, looking for a HD Res. patch.

I haven't gotten further than the new Umbra Village/Klamath, but already I can see improvements to the game core.

So thank you again mod team, I don't know who you are (other than the 'main' (?) modder is killap) but I wub you all <3

What .Pixote is saying is that the mod isn't just languishing, and that while killap is occupied, its still undergoing improvements.

I for one and incredibly excited to see the improvements to the maps.

Modding is a hobby, some people are forgetting that. Demanding exact deadlines for a hobby is pretty much pointless.
