Fallout 2 mod Fallout 2 Restoration Project Discussion (ideas/suggestions)

I can understand if this is too big of a change, but the positioning of Den's residential area feels wrong to me. I can't imagine Smitty wanting people to walk through his front yard all the time. Personally I always imagined you would get to the residential area by going southeast from Mom's.

Hey Killap. Any plans on changing the Bozar to be the sniper weapon it was meant to be? I'm almost sure it got its scripts crossed somewhere and ended up with a machinegun script. I mean, it's a .50 cal Barret, it's listed as the 'ultimate sniper weapon', yet it's got a 30 round clip and only Burst-fires.

Edit3: I'm not pushing for any of this. The work you've done so far is excellent, and there's nobody who can say any different. I'm just asking into what the future might hold.

Killap i agrea with this dude :) Bozar is too powerfull...lets just say it will be something like improved gauss rifle but insted of small guns it will be big gun...

So lets say...it statistics can be like this...

.50 cal Bozar Sniper Rifle:

Damage:64-86
Range:50
AP:5 why? well becouse bozar had 6 AP and it was Burst mode so now its 5 becouse its single shot :)
Strenght needed:6 or 7 maybe 6 again why? its not burst fire any more so it requires less...
Ammo type:well .233 i dont see point to make .50 cal rounds for 1 gun...but if you want you can take graphics of 7.62 JHP and create secound version like .50 cal rounds...so there will be new ammo type for 1 gun...
Ammo in Clip:10 is ok
Weight:15 or 20 its big sniper rifle :)

Ok what other people thinks? its no fun to kill every dude with Bozar only power armor dudes dont die usualy at first hit but secound yes :)

OK this picture is a bit drastic but it shows effect of .50 cal...nothing pleasant...and i found it at google...

And a good picture with .50 cal ammo so you can use it in your mod:

Too bad i dont got idea how to mod maybe i could help :(

Anyone can edit the Bozar's .pro file to make it a little more inline with it's description, but the problem with this is that all maps that have this weapon on them or in a critter's inventory will have to be replaced as well, which makes the effort much more time consuming.

Unfortunately maps store their own copy of .pro files, so there is the potential if only the .pro file was changed that in game you may end up with two different weapons that look the same but act differently.

Hm damn any way killap is smart man after thinking about it it will be ok if he just change from burst to single shot he got already much on his mind...

Is there any way to make it so Action Boy actually changes the bar to display the extra AP?

I think no he would have to make new bar and write new stuff even if its possible not worth it...

A serious idea: Make it so that killing Kaga makes his remains pop up, simply so you can bury in the open grave for some Karma boost or to make finality. It seems just killing him is sort of hollow.

Interesting. I shall consider this one.

The problem with most Fallout mods is that you can tell that they're not in the same STYLE as how Interplay has done the original game/s. Just keep that in mind, I hate seeing Fallout 1 unique items being reused (And still having the same description!), and I do not like it when I get all excited because there's a new town, yet every NPC just says "Go get this for me" or "Get 10 of these and 5 of those for me", I once used a mod which might as well have been called "Wasteland Errand boy Mod".

Thankfully this restoration Mod is very good, but still keep it in mind when you're expanding on the 'unofficial patch' or whatever.

Is there a diplamatic way to settle things with kaga by any chance ? dialoge options could be like: by working together so to increase the chance of succes.

maybe that could trigger him to join you (charisma + speechcheck) but guess his need to get his HP down again (easy fix right? his temporal HP could be changed, instead of his max HP)
Or he can work alone (intelligence + speech check) in which you may encounter him on the enclave for example..

Just some idea's concerning Kaga, Wadda ya think?

As the main point of the mod is to add back in things that were taken out, I'm not sure it would be the best of ideas to make it so your blood enemy could be your ally. I was simply suggesting something that is already inherent to the encounter itself, for example.

He being your revival was because the PC is the chosen one. If you would play a diplomatic character you should have the option to avoid the combat. Tell him that the whole chosen "one" is rubbish. He might agree with you and offer to work together. I really don't see why this should not be implented. puting dead Kaga in his grave is a good feature as well. I just want Kage being more the the bandits brothers from Redding.

But Killaps the Boss he might have more ideas on this as well.

Kaga another NPC no thx we already play 1 tribal no need for next one in team :)

Idea of bury Kaga in the open grave is wrong this is wasteland i dont think any one would bury a guy who wanted to kill you...so its just stupid...

About the dyplomatic way of solving Kaga problem well its only good idea...

that's not true. a really good character would forgive, as a good Christian. really, its a good idea

even the priest in church is drunk christians are dead atleast good ones

And what about having a choice at the last encounter with Kaga.
I don't expect Kage to be begging for mercy but here is an idea:
After he come beneath a certain HP value some script/dialoge could be activated that gives you the option to finish him off or leting him live with giving he a good speech that this shows why the PC is the chosen one.

Killap, what do you think? Is it even possible to do so?

Kaga thinks hes going to live chosen one lets him go when he walks in shame of defeat he gets bullet in back and chosen one says:There can be only one

Any way its total waste of time...i want to ask why people are so concerned about Kaga live some kinda of fanclub or something? :D

A waste of time huh..

Big words I must say, anyways I was directing this more to Killap. And for the information, Fallout is an RPG so it has to have allot of difrent choices in them. The option of shooting him in the back in a nice option as well. This is what role playing is about. Why cant Kaga have a bigger part? I think he had the potential to bocome an interesting NPC..

I only think its very hard to implent the things I talked about.

It isn't even about forgiving or anything to do with being Christian. I more meant the idea as one far more based in antiquity. If you do battle with an opponent, and you end up slaying them, it's a pretty common concept for the winning side in war to give their enemies last rites. No matter how bad and spiteful and potentially wronged Kaga was, he was still one of your tribesmen.

hm yes and people got lots of ideas first was:
1.Abilabity to bury him...
2.Diplomatic solution so Kaga will not bother you...
3.Kaga losses battle chosen one forgives...
4.Kaga losses battle chosen one shots him in a back...
5.You fall in love in Kaga...and Kaga gets a sex change operation only 10k chosen one is forgiving :)
6.Kaga joins you in quest that wouldent be bad but hes a tribal theres already chosen one and sulik...dont need 3 tribal...

Personaly solution number 2 is best...1 is totaly nuts :) 3 is stupid becouse its bloody wasteland...4 is perfect but can be preformed in normal combat :) 5 is same nuts like 1 :) number 6 would be good but hes a tribal :)

Any way Killap can decide so it will be suprise :) i bet he will pick number 5 :)

Nope he was a traitor he was kicked out and he wanted to kill you dont see point to forgive him...

And look its in bloody wasteland if you could do it for Kaga why dont you do it for enclave soldiers they only following orders and Kaga dont follow any orders so hes more evil...
