Fallout 2 Savegame Editor

As was answered in another thread: Follower's current level is defined by *.pro file in savegame directory. Game engine change levels by replacing files. Exact mechanic is unknow for me.
Can someone clarify? Does it mean that, for example, when Vic is stage2, the slot will have 0000374.pro saved under name 00000062.pro?
 
Вроде как копируется в 62 из 374. на форуме fallout.ru в теме Crafty описывал это, но я уже не помню точно, надо чекнуть поиском там.

I have GOG version of Fallout 2 and restoration project 2.3.3.
I've recieved the following error with (2018-06-30):
15:05:00.962 WARNING Invalid data in function 3. There should be at least one map.
15:05:00.962 WARNING array of GVARs != duplicate array. Expect the crash.
15:05:00.962 WARNING Function 5 doesn't start with 0x0,0x0,'FP'. We are definitely going to crash.
15:05:00.962 WARNING There are more items in the inventory than in the entire game. We are going to crash in the next loop.
15:05:00.978 ERROR Can't get type for this item.
15:05:00.978 ERROR Failed to load: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Fallout 2\data\SAVEGAME\SLOT06\SAVE.DAT

Could someone help me out what could be the problem?

I would guess that the problem is that the game is installed in the system directory "Program Files (x86)". I suggest to install the game in a directory not protected by the system.

Thxalot! I thought the problem is more complicated because I could see my saves partially. I feel kind of stupid right now. The solution was so easy... :)
 
You can, but be careful. It is possible to break the whole game, used only for testing.
I cant even get it to open that file.. :( I go to savegame ->slot -> save.dat --> try to open and it wont open.. Any tips?
PS: As after a couple hours of game play I was still at level 2 and unable to fight most fights with even mere single wolves and so unable to explore most sites or pick any locks I went back and restarted the game with a new character designed for a hard early game.

Open the settings(File->Settings) and set "Path" to the directory with the game. After clicking OK, the left part of the window should contain a list of saved games. In case of errors, the log in the bottom should report them. Except when the game is installed in the "Program Files" save files may be invisible to the editor without any errors.

Do not use File->Open. It is just an unused feature in case any mod changes the standard file name or path. Files can open from there, but only after the correct path is set in the settings.

Is there a way to add upgrades to the Highwayman Car using GVARs with the Fallout 2 Save Editor? I'm trying to to get the grav-plates specifically.
 
Why do you want grav plates before endgame? the car will run so fast with them that there is no chance for random encounter and extra exp. points to fall in. Grav plates work fine in RP2.3.3 no need to keep the car in chop shop to endgame anymore. Just Kill Horigan and after choosing to continue game park the car in chop shop in new reno and go talk to T-Ray.

Is it safe to use the editor anymore? Or will it sccrew my savegame, because after using it i get many crashes during gameplay i tested two versions:
build 15.12.2017 and build 30.06.2018 and both throw similar errors. seemes variables from sfallgv are loaded with errors. is there a fix to it?

when not using the editor crashes happen far less ofthen... any help?

I'm using only RP+EcCo+burn's Fo2tweaks. nothing more
 
I'm running Fallout 2 v1.02.31, Restoration Project 2.3.3 and SFall 3.3a. I'm trying to edit my stats for the sake of a Let's Play but i'm having trouble.
When I load my character data I get the following errors:

When I check the various pages, all stats are set to 0 and when I change them and save it, the changes don't apply.

Well I *do* have the game installed in "Program Files (x86)" but not on the system partition. I made this folder myself on a separate partition and out of habbit named it "Program Files (x86)" now i don't think the folder I'm talking about is protected by UAE (I know the one on "c" drive is but not on other partitions -at least I think so- ). It *is* protected however by data execution prevention as I've set my system to "OptOut" as a security feature.. meaning not only system flies but all files are protected by "DEP" aginst fishy behaviour. Fallout always used to run smooth and problem free with it on. only recent 3 years were unplayably full of crashes...

In your case, if the directory is only called "Program Files (x86)" but does not belong to the system, then this will not be the cause of the problems. I would be more suspicious about SFall and DEP. Patching programs at runtime is considered as "fishy behaviour" by most antiviruses. Have you tried to play with all memory protection disabled?
I did not encounter crashes after using the editor (except for inventory) that would not have happened without it. But maybe I was just lucky.
 
Seems a fresh reinstall without installing sFall over the top (apparently it is allready added in RP) did the trick. Thanks anyways <3

Thing is - and I don't know why- when i launch Fallout2.exe while beeing offline it first starts rundll32.exe and a ghost copy of fallout2.exe only by launching the game for the second time the game actually starts to run. When Online the game launches after first time but also with rundll32.exe . i never got 00000005 error from fo2 so DEP shouldn't be a problem i use OptOut on DEP for more than 10 years on various systems i had in the past XP/Vista, etc and haven't had problems with fo2 nor sfall until last 3 years. this whole rundll32.exe seemes fishy since it running usually only together with viruses since i read somewhere viruses need rundll32.exe process to activate.
