Fallout 3 at E3 - NeoGAF Q&A

The Enclave sure doesn't share the same fame as the BoS does in the Fallout franchise. So why add them?

Bethesda are keen to latch on to whatever part of the franchise they can while still making their own game. Hence the BoS, Super Mutants and now the Enclave.
It's patently not how you make a proper sequel, but there you go.

What I find even more ludicrous is that between the Enclave and the BoS, they both let an undetonated nuclear warhead sit in the middle of a town unmolested. What? The BoS would seize it. The Enclave would kill everyone there and then seize it or blow it up.
To say nothing about every single nuclear car wreck going unlooted for 200 years.

First, it was argument misunderstood/ignored. Ignorance can hradly be tolerated. Second, I never said it's trolling, only it could be considered a sort of.

Cut.

Look, I'm not going to labour this one too much, so I'll stop after this one.

It isn't just you, not by a long chalk, but there has been a lot of calling people Trolls, Plants, and whatever else. That is no way to win an argument. By tossing the phrase around, it cheapens the meaning, and eventually it becomes meaningless. It also gives a certain amount of credibility, when the cries are so frequent, to the (wrong) idea that NMA is an intolerant community that is unable to make any argument beyond some sort of elitism conveyed via censorship of dissent.

If someone is stupid enough to make the same ignorant argument over and again, then it should be obvious to everyone. Ignore them, or tell them why they're wrong, but don't try to end a discussion with name-calling. (And especially not with a stunted paragraph that amounts to little more than an inflammatory put down.)

I'll stop now.

NMA has never had a culture of censorship, IF the arguments brought up were valid and relatively respectful.

it is true that lately some people here have gotten carried away, too quickly resorting to insults rather than argument, but i do believe it is due to the shitload of moronic updates we've been getting about FO3 coupled to a greater influx of trolls or simply malinformed people who come to tell us how wrong we are.

either way, as said before: everyone is welcome here as long as you are able to back up your arguments. hell, you could even argument the FO:BoS was a good game if you wanted without getting kicked out, IF you are able to seriously argument your case.

You know you're probably right, there probably is a freeze gun. What makes that not fallout? The fact that there weren't any freeze guns in FO1 or FO2? Like someone else said after you, freeze guns do fit into the 50's pulp sci-fi theme present in Fallout. In fact, a freeze-gun sounds like it could be a pretty cool weapon to play around with. Why is any of this bad?

The freeze gun being retro-50ish inspired isn't the problem.
The fact that the game is already RTwP, kinda negates the need to freeze your enemies with a special gun so they can't shoot you first.

You can just hit "V" and queue up the super ghey VATS system, so why bother freezing your enemy for x amount of seconds and scrounging for "cryo" ammo. (where the hell would you find it anyway?)

It is yet another example of Bethesda trying to make this into some nerfed shooter for console kiddies.

I don't want Halo with SPECIAL or Oblivion with guns.
I want Fallout 3 to be a true Fallout game that incorporates THINKING and STRATEGY instead of mindless shooting of frozen orcmutants and mudcrabs.

Is that too much to ask?

You know, bashing Bethesda is neat, but bashing it because it has both a freeze gun and RTwP is silly. Of course a freeze gun would be useful, because it means there's an enemy less who's trying to take you down.
