Fallout 3 at PAX: GayGamer and That VideoGame Blog

Well - how stupid, you can cause a nuclear reaction just by planting a charge on a nuke? A nuke would never go off, even if you planted a ton of TNT on it. The detonating process is the most difficult part on a nuke.
In Fallout 1 you had to get the key to activate a nuke in the master's vault.

Don't diss on GayGamer, Pope. They my homies.

No hate at all, I was wondering if they just did a "tongue in cheek" comment. And if so, I give them huge claps for doing so.

If not, it's still a great giggle factor.

Who said there isn't? I'm sure there is a speech check behind it.

How are you sure? Magic eyes?

No. Burke gives you a plasma detonator thingy. Something to arm it with, in any case

The cars don't operate though, they only explode. How would you get it near the bomb with Simms watching you?

"Hey, what are you doing?"
"Uhh.. It's a sacrifice to the bomb."
"Oh, carry on then... bomb worshiping fruitcakes."

Meh, I still don't get what all the commotion about getting near the bomb is.

The yokels of Megaton, their sherrif included, decided to build and live around a bomb that didn't go off. They feel the failure of the bomb to detonate was a sign that they should live there.

They probably don't even think the bomb could go off. With people around it all the time, it probably isn't a concern to them.

Again, they built their homes around it because they saw it as a sign that it was a place to live.

And no I am not hypothesising, that has been brought up in several of the previews for over a year now concerning megaton.

You mean that them having a really stupid reason to live there means it's not stupid for them to ignore people fiddling with the bombs?

Two wrongs don't make a right, equally two stupids don't make a smart. I don't think double-stupid design can excuse 'em here.

It has nothing to do with design. The people think of the bomb as a sign from "God" "gods" whomever, that this is a safe and blessed place to live.

It probably never enters their mind that it could be detonated.

Anymore then you thinking the glow quest is a death trap the BOS sent you on to get rid of you in FO1. There is no impetus for them to see a threat from a bomb that has been sitting in the middle of their town for 200 years that they worship.

Since Simms can give you a quest to disarm the bomb, he knows it can be detonated

Can't think of a Fallout 2 quest as silly as "The Power of the Atom".
uhh really how about "replant Seymour the talking venus flytrap next to a retirement home for ghouls so he'll tell you how to beat a super smart radscorpion at chess"

Few Fallout 2 quests could hold up to this kind of scrutiny.

Instead of smiley's, we should a set of stock answers to cut n paste.

Sequels should improve upon the prequels, just because something was bad in 2, it does not excuse poor design in the 3.

Not that any of the quests where this retarded anyway, and so far I have not seen quests that are better than the good ones that where in the previous.

Google "the little shop of horrors"

That quest is a pop reference.

Want to make comparisons, try the modoc quest, or the tensions between vault city and gecko, or broken hills, or NCR.

How does the beth quests compare to those in depth and quality.

yes I know that's why I remembered the name of the plant. did you read the statement I was replying to?

Want to make comparisons,
but I don't, I was just replying to an isolated statement.

nobody said that other than yourself, if you want to argue with yourself maybe you should start another thread
