Fallout 3 developers on Fallout

I don't think that he said that because it's a disgusting act, I bet that he became a child killer and the bounty hunters always killed him... afterall, he is the one who does not know about the skills hotkeys.
I guess he's one of these guys that prefer metagaming to real roleplaying.

Analyzing the weapons selection in fallout 1, why do you think the most common weapons of today (Like M16, Kalashnikov) were not included? (tricky one i know
Actually there was a Kalashnikov wasn't there? The Assault Rifle aka "AK-112".

Neither NMA, the Fallout wiki or my memory has any notes of it actually being an Kalashnikov.

And even if it is an Kalashnikov, it's not an AK-47. ;)

Seriously, it's his kind that complains about FO's combat being slow because they didn't 'discover' the combat speed setting.

I certainly wouldn't never call it "fast" either.

There's still a certain resemblance. It's more of a knock-off or evolution. (Even if it looks more like a devolution :P)
But ultimately it doesn't matter because 47 is short for 1947, as in before the fifties and thus before Fallout's timeline split.

Huzzah! The AK-47 is cleared of all charges and legal for use!

What resemblance?

I wonder what Boy Scout tactics he is talking about...

Um.. try peaceful trading rather than eradication and subversion.
I wouldn't call it Boy Scout tactics.

Everythings relative.. I stand by what I said... arming your neighboors is vastly "nicer" than gunning down vault dwellers.

Trade is not "nice", it's mutually beneficial, that's the whole point of trade. Russia trades with the EU, would you say Russia's international diplomacy is thus "boy scoutish"?

Boy scouts lead old ladies across the street and collect for charity. Last time I checked, BoS paladins did neither.

I found this rather funny... wonder if this guy has even played through either of the games. heh, kind of embarrassing nonetheless.

Children basically turned into a device to complicate my options in combat, since killing them wasn't really a viable option. "Oh I'm a bad dude... oh look the game isn't fun now."

Isn't Fallout 3 all about moral decisions and their consequences?

When I read all those comments I really feel that the developers of Fallout 3 do not understand the lore of Fallout and prefer to compare it with fantasy and PA concepts they do understand.

If you're ignorant about the games, thats okay but then you shouldn't be claiming the whole time how big a fan you are of it.

It's not even the ignorance, that bothers me most. It's how childishly silly a large portion of Beth devs seem to be. Like some teenage anime lovers, who post emo poetry and pictures of ponies on their myspace pages. And than go play Final Fantasy.
What i liked about BIS and Troika was the grittiness of writing, which didn't turn imaturishly over the top, like some kid desperetaly trying to be witty or ''like adult'', but failing of course.

I stayed up all night playing The Sims 2 Deluxe to come here and read the "Fallout 3 developers on Fallout interview" I’m just thankful that my day hasn’t started yet other wise it would have been ruined. What a bunch of Dal-ba-yobs. The Whole favorite settlement bit got me man.

...and I guess that when they got to have to answer the question why at leats 50% of people involved in the making never played the originals and 80% did not really get the idea behind Fallout, they'll just answer "You can't have a team as big as ours in which everyone has played Fallout 1 or 2."

Well...right... but they could have made at least some kind of meeting, in which a real expert on the matter (or more than one) could have tought them about some very, very basics (since they don't even seem to grasp those). Or, even better, given every employee 4 days "free" to go and play the originals.

Would've made the whole game so much better and more in the spirit of F1 & 2...

Well my friend its probably because the target demographics are idiot children. With the invention of better and better graphics and simpler gameplay, the need for imagination and self-thought grows less and less.

Bethesda is foolishly following this path of "super cool graphics" equals "amazing best selling rpg". What they fail to take into account is that the very essence of roleplaying was and continues to be imagination and thought. It requires mature and believable dialogue. A story thats deep and fits with the past history. Good mechanics.

Otherwise why even bother putting out a half-assed product? Why not make some kinda Oblivion or Morrowind with graphics that would put Crysis, Quake Wars, or any other number of fps games to shame?

Maybe Ausir could organise a "Fallout lore 101" seminar and sell it to them.

Man, with each day I loose even more of those shreds of hope that F3 will be a good game.....

And you're still gonna buy it... right...

So what? You'll hate me if I do? Call me a fanboi?

I will PROBABLY buy it to see how well it is done, but I won't buy it as soon as it will be released, no matter what everyone will say. I'll wait some time, read the reviews, both official and of people from forums, including this one, as I respect the opinion of people here and then I'll make my decision. I don't go into that bullshit "I won't buy F3 'cause.....I'm a true Fallout fan and that what Fallout fans do!" Like that changes anything, it's my money after all. If it proves pathetic, I'll admit I did wrong buying it.
