"NPCs completely ignoring continuous BB gun face shots, unequivocally retarded G.O.A.T questions, absolutely horrible character animations, ridiculously bad collision detection, bland environments, bad textures..

everything here is true, and yet somehow I have fun with that game : ).

Somehow I have INCREDIBLE amounts of fun with it :). The reason why? None of those issues are enough to even slightly mar the overall experience, because they are MINOR issues. Almost every game has at least one of the above mentioned faults.
That is great for you, but it can also be read as: "I have very, very low standards!"
But what I read in the Irontower thread fills me with hope. Let´s hope the good stuff is there in the middle and endgame, too.

Four hours in, and I've already had more laughs and heart-pounding battles out of this game than most in recent memory. If all the reviews are all bought ( which is ridiculous), I was bought too.
Come back again when you played 40-80 hours and still enjoy it. Then explain what you enjoy so much. It is not hard to fill the first 10 hours with great stuff and it is not so important. They have to fill the whole 40-80 hours with great stuff.

the whole Megaton bomb storyline.
the wasteland survival guide.
fire ants.
Arefu.

All of that is around Megaton? Within how many hours after starting the game??

So there is really no Gauss Rifle?? :puppy-dog:

Have you played the originals at all?

and that just there is the core problem why some on this site might lack the ability to form an objective view of FO3

No, the game isn't Fallout 1, i doubt Beth, ever wanted to make it as such nor do you need to know the originals to enjoy it or ciriticaly accept it. Its a spiritual successor of Fallout franchise and as such the game seams to be a huge success, on the road to be a GOY.
I kinda understand that some people tend to be overly idealistic as far their favorite games go but that kinda kills the fun, being open minded here not having too huge expectations (face it noone can beat the old F games) helps

Hands down this is the best game Beth, made so far . Its not perfect, kind shame thy did spend all the energy on PR instead polishing the game. And without adding an editor thy kind excluded one of the best things from their past games.
But tb was a while since a game kept me up so late at night

These reviews are pathetic.

Voice acting - Feels like it was done by a bunch of amateurs, many characters sound pretty childish and often lack the emotion when something significant happens.

Writing - Again, most of the lines feel kind of childish and more suited for a fantasy game, the game really lacks that witty humour present in the previous titles. Even though there were a few moments that made me crack a smile, but other than that it's pretty uninspiring.

Animations, Physics ..........

Quests - Haven't done enough to make some kind of a solid statement, but from what i've seen, many quests are pretty similar to those in oblivion - boring fed-up quests. Although at least this time around it's worth doing them, since you get xp for that.

Game world\Exploration - I think this is the strong point of the game. Just walking around and exploring is pretty fun, there are quite a few interesting places to be found.

Ballancing - I'm level 6 and already have a minigun, which i obtained by killing a heavy armoured super mutant (i'm playing the game on hard). Actually the caravan traders are harder to kill than the mutants. All weapons are relatively easy to obtain, though it's a bit harder with the ammunition, which is pretty good, since you can't go guns blazing at every critter cave.

Though it's better bllanced than oblivion, the game is still mod hungry.

General observations - Perks feel very cheap and unimportant (mod for traits and less perks needed), the interface is horrible (mods needed), nuclear exploding cars is probably on of the stupidest ideas i have ever seen (mod needed), the A.I is dumb as a rock, music/sounds are pretty decent.

Now, i can't fully comment on this game as a whole, but one thing is sure, this game is far from 10 or 9 title, it may be a decent 8, but certainly not a 9,10. The thing that saves it from being total crap, is the sandbox type of gameplay which is still pretty rare.....

P.S kikomiko is full of bs.

4. Theres Four pistols, two rifle, two assault rifles, two laser weapons (pistol and rifle), two plasma weapons (pistol and rifle), two shotguns, and the incredibly shitt dart gun In small weapons. Heavy weapons include two miniguns, a rocket launcher, flamethrower, and fatman. A decent selection but weapons of the same type really feel the exact same.

Liar liar pants on fire?

8 Pistols
2 Smgs
9 Rifles (Including Assault Rifles)
4 Shotguns
7 Big Weapons (Miniguns, rocket launchers, flamethrowers and the Fatman)
10 Energy weapons
+ 10 explosives and 21 close combat weapons

Source http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_weapons

Fallout 2 has:

10 Pistols
6 Smgs
13 Rifles (Including Assault Rifles)
5 Shotguns
9 Big Weapons
13 Energy weapons
+ 7 explosives and 29 close combat weapons

Source http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_2_weapons

Fallout 1 has:

5 Pistols
1 Smg
5 Rifles
2 Shotguns
3 Big Guns
7 Energy Weapons
+ 6 explosives and 13 close combat weapons

Source: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_weapons

Fallout Tactics has:

Too many.

Source: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Tactics_weapons

So Fallout Tactics > Fallout 2 > Fallout 3 > Fallout 1 when it comes to the number of weapons. Not that the number of weapons is very important for a game anyway. (Look at who has the most in this comparison)

You do realize half those weapons are just character specific weapons. They are exactly the same as their mundane counterparts, cept they do more damage. I have the Wazer Wifle, I have the Kneecaper, I have the Terrible Shotgun, etc. etc.

They look no different than their counterparts. Just do more damage.

I just got my copy of fallout 3 today in the uk and before i started playing it i had a look at the manual, i noticed that under the skills listings under "Big Guns" it listed "Gatling Laser" does this seem right to you im sure i remember the gatling lazer in fallout being a laser weapon and not a big guns weapon.

I`m aware that you responded to my unedited post, so your argument is a little of at the moment. (I first posted a long list of weapon names, but then I found a better source so I redid my post)

1: Modelling takes alot more time than making pictures.

2: I fail to see how that argument cannot be used against the original games as well? True, most of the weapons have a unique icon, but several use the same character animations. Lazy developers?

3: I counted every weapon modification for every weapon in Fallout 2 as a unique entry. All they did for those were to edit the image slightly, and improve the stat of a weapon slightly one way or the other. Pretty much the same dont you agree?

I'm pretty sure they got that one right. If I can recall correctly, any minigun, energy or no, was part of the big guns skill. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

EDIT: I would give credence to your second point if Bethesda provided descriptions like BIS did back in the day. But since they don't, its fairly obvious that there is almost no difference between named weapons and their counterparts other than damage.

EDIT AGAIN: Wow, you change your posts quicker than I can keep up. I have yet to come across modifiable weapons in FO:3. I'm assuming there is none, but if you could find me an example, I will cede that point.

MY LAST EDIT: I didn't come across more than 2 shotgun types. Nor did I come across more than 4 rifle types. Where are you getting these numbers from?

Yeah sorry about that, bad habit.

Well it is not exactly same, but I still think my argument is transferrable:

In FO:3 you have these player unique weapons which you make, with "funny" names and improved stats through combining schematics and items at a workbench.

In FO:2 you can pay people to upgrade your weapons, making them look slightly different and making them slightly better. They also have a different text description.

Although FO:2 might have put slightly more effort into this than FO:3, both games basically do the same, allowing you to improve your weapons through investing things you have gathered. But in FO:3 you do not need the original weapon and you only invest junk :P

Edit to your last edit:
I did include source references you know :P
Combat Shotgun
Sawed-Off Shotgun
The Terrible Shotgun
The Kneecapper

You err in one statement my friend. Most of the named weapons are not made by you, but found by killing certain npcs.

[spoiler:e3dc98a4f1] You can find the terrible shotgun in the raider town something evergreen (sorry im a tired man) by killing smiling jack in the bazaar. It's a combat shotgun that does 57 damage, but for some reason (im guessing here) it counts as a big gun, cause my hit % was horrible with it. [/spoiler:e3dc98a4f1]

EDIT: The Kneecapper and Terrible shotgun are still just combat shotguns. I guess the point I am now argueing is the fact that in the old games you wouldn't find rehashed weapons (not counting modifications) but in this game its commonplace. btw sorry on the asking for numbers, i missed your source, my bad

Ah I see. That is a tad boring, but you can still find unique npc weapons in the previous Fallout games as well.

I concede slight defeat, but my original point still stand: There are more weapons in FO:3 than MorbidMind claimed earlier in this thread.

Although one might wish for Bethesda to have done a more thorough job on the weapon system, I think the switch to a way more demanding graphic system is a good excuse for the re-hashing, and I also think it is preferable that they re-hash weapons for story purposes (As in rewards), if the alternative is to have no unique rewards at all.

But I do agree wholeheartedly that it is idiocracy not to include item descriptions.

I agree that Morbid was a little off on the weapons. I would have not even brought up my arguements would Bethesda have made weapon descriptions.

But yes, it is better that there are unique weapons rather than just the base ones. So you have my agreeance (not a word?) on that issue.

1: Modelling takes alot more time than making pictures.

The what the fucking shit horsecrap? Do you have any idea what you're talking about or just babbling stuff you overheard when the adults were talking?

Important info for the clueless: The weapons as well as all the items and everything else in the original Fallout games were rendered 3D models. They were not made by "making pictures" whatever the hell that means.
And considering the way they look (more details and more polygons than those in Fallout 3) I'm almost sure they took more time to create.

Pretty funny, though how the fact that 3D is easier to make was one of the excuses for which everybody was going 3D. Now we have to forgive incompetent developers because after all 3D is teh difficult.

Or is really really so good?? or is the lack RPG games on the market that make reviewers go frenzy and review with 10/10 and S grades???

Any explanation?

Anyone already play it and can give a little description of what saw on the game??

I don't know about that "S" rating on Bitbag. They have games rated "A" and "C" too, but I couldn't find a description of the rating system.
Just a guess, but their ratings are probably styled after the Japanese method of in-game performance grading. S is perfect, D or E is the worst, as someone else alluded to. Don't ask me why "S" is better than "A". Maybe it stands for "Super"?

I hear that when you kill the overseer and Amanda the daughter appear, and you kill her too she appear again when the vault open, anyone can confirm this???

Make no sense to me...

And i say u that - polish players murdering Fallout 3 now - at one positive review is 5 negative so that game is not 10/10 so far - im on doubt now - want to buy that game Collectors Edition and do not known what to do - is really that crappy...?? or is not..??

I think the game is worth checking out. if you can only come to terms with it not being a true Fallout game, it's still enjoyable.
