Fallout 3 video variabilia

Well, in Arcanum that's sort of how it worked. A rusty revolver did 1-2 points of damage or something.

LOL look this guy in bethesda Forums (SPOILER)

[spoiler:18ac1cc43f]Ok well I just played for about 3 hours, and guess what I crippled the main quest by accident, I'm probably the only guy that will ever do it lol. This is how I did it. Don't worry I'll put the spoilers in tags.

Ok Well I created my character, exited the vault. Next I went to Megaton and I got a mission from Mr Burke (you probably saw the GT video). Anyway I decided to blow up Megatons so I went to the tower. After the town got nuked, I got my own suite. Anyways I decided to go explore so I left the tower and went exploring around the edge of the map. After some walking I found Vault 112 by accident so I went it and did the simulation thing.

But I didn't know my dad was involved! So it turns out I rescue him and he wants me to do a mission for him that would make water cleaner, and like I understand that's almost the end of the main storyline! [/spoiler:18ac1cc43f]

Responding (with a question) with a spolier myself:
[spoiler:d59bd635ab]Does simply finding your dad and doing a mission actually mean it is near the end of the story line?[/spoiler:d59bd635ab]

That sounds kind of ridiculous. On a sorta related note, I hate rusty weapons that don't infect your opponent with tetanus.

So bullets don't kill if guns aren't in tip top shape, they really should tell that to the people in Iraq or Afghanistan.
They aren't suppose to die after being shot by an old gun or rifle.

That would be "breaking the game" if this weren't a franchise where you're supposed to be able to do things in any order you want. The main plot is still more linear than the originals, but it's a good thing that if you know where to look you can just go there rather than Bethesda locking it off with some invisible wall

In other words, this "mistake" is a positive.

Yes is positive, a great mistake!! you can finish the game in a few hours like the old FO... but is a mistake so if a patch is released maybe is fixed and then is not positive anymore...

This actually sounds kind of cool, unless it is marred by errors. In Arcanum, you can find the entrance to some underground prison in Dernholm I think that you have to go down near the end game if you are evil. One time I went down there through the secret entrance beyond the city limit and found an important npc. He told me things that I should not really have known by then and it sort of broke the story.

[spoiler:3aa4c74d13]If, when you find your Dad, he tells you to thank so and so, and makes similar mistakes, and the story actually IS broken, this will suck .[/spoiler:3aa4c74d13]

I wonder if this is the route those people who won the Fallout 3 fastest time traveled.

Even when hitting the unprotected head? I can´t remember if it is like that.

The entrance is off the map (by quite a bit) and impossible to find without specific instructions pointing exactly where it is. I've never heard of anyone accidentally finding it, so not exactly the same thing.

True BN, nobody actually travels outside city limits in Arcanum, but it is similar to this situation. I can (sort of) imagine somebody absently clicking in the top left corner of the screen and finding a dungeon entrance. Its not likely, though.
I'm actually surprised that Beth added this (or made this mistake?) because in Oblivion, there were certain quest specific dungeons that required a key or something to open (mages quest one I think). I just hope that in a patch, they make certain solutions like this possible and rewarding, instead of just eliminating them.

The comments on the second Youtube one are quite funny. How guys are defending the need for 32 headshots to kill and NPC as a good game design decision.

Wow.

Yeah, because it was awesome when in Fallout 2 I could shoot someone in the eyes roughly the same amount of times and still not even kill them because I had AP ammo loaded.

Or use a rocket launcher on a dog and have the dog walk away with barely a scratch.

Or the fact that my character never once got an STD after having sex with nearly every female character in FO2.

Realism + Fallout = Laughable.

On that note though, those bugs are absolutely hilarious. Honestly, that is definitely one of the few things I criticize about FO3. I know Bethesda wanted to get the game out ASAP, but they really should've worked out some of the kinks. At least bring in 2 dozen people whos sole purpose is to try to BREAK the game.
