Fallout 4 Automatron is out

I was agreeing with you up until the very last sentence. This DLC does allow some fun when it comes to customizing robots but that's it really. At the very least Point Lookout is a sorta pretty location to explore. I liked the little sidequests involved with it, making moonshine, exploring the native camps scattered around, finding that one little boy you can get toys for, etc. This DLC can't really compare to Point Lookout or the Pitt as both of those give you a small bundle of quests and 2 entirely new locales to explore. This one only has one very tiny new location, everything else uses already existing locations.

I didn't mentioned Point Lookout because i have a personal dislike for that DLC. Though you're right; Point Lookout was objectively better.

There is playtesting but it only happens once the DLC and games are released.

Also LOL at the $50 price tag for that season pass, I can get a few better games for that price. Pay double the money for such stinkers.

If the season pass is 50 bucks then the DLC's combined better add up to whole game the equivalent of Fallout 4.
Consider the stuff I've seen about Automatron so far I find that dubious.
Then again, Train Simulator has DLC's worth a like a thousand bucks, don't it?

Oh boy! Time to slog back into Fallout 4 just to see how many times this DLC makes me vomit!
I am too late. I was going to say.
DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!
You have fallen Sir Ragemage, let this be the last time.

Fallout 4 = $60
Fallout 4's content = 5% Fallout

Season Pass = $50
Season Pass's content = 4% Fallout
If you acquire Fallout 4 and the season pass (pay $110.00) you will have a game that is 9% Fallout. Might be better to save your money and play a Fallout game.

For the record, the DLC made me violently ill. It could just be that both of my parents got sick last night and I caught whatever they had. But I'm blaming it on this terrible DLC.

Only 1 fucking mission and hardly any customization when it comes to the actual robots outside of their armor. You can't slap a Mr. Handy body on some Robobrain legs and give it Assaultron parts and a protectron head. You can only put the Mr. Handy body on some legs with Mr. Handy parts. They didn't even get the customization right.

Oh and also the main robot "companion" you get is fully sentient with full AI, though they try to hide it by having her start pretty much every sentence involving emotion with "my program dictates- suchandsuch". For example when you first meet her, and her owners have been killed, she says "My program tells me I am feeling anger and sadness at the loss of my friends. I want revenge." Keep in mind she is literally an Assaultron with Protectron arms and legs. That's it. She is not a synth or a robobrain, so there is no reason for this. Just more destruction of the established lore. I need to go throw up some more.

So, I have the Season Pass from the time when I made bad judgement calls. Should I try to test the waters of this DLC at all? I can enjoy nearly anything and my tastes aren't exactly as high standard as everyone here, but I did dislike Fallout 4 all the same, so does this mean a yes or a no?

Playtesting? In a Bethesda game?

Sure, there's playtesting. It's where players test the game for you, that's why it's called "play-testing". :smug:

I have the Season Pass too because I was stupid and thought Bethesda was the number 2 best company in the world. I played through the entirety of the DLC today. It has only 1. Single. Quest. That quest takes an hour or less to do and requires little to no prepping. It's also a complete disappointment. In the end you fight the Mechanist, and she swarms you with robots. Though I wouldn't call it a swarm at all since she only sends 3 robots at a time about 4 times, and after that sends a bunch of incomplete robots at you. All in all you'll probably shoot only 30 robots in that final stand-off. The rest of the factory isn't any better.

Robot customization is okay I guess. I like how you can customize Codsworth with it. Unfortunately it's very limited and is basically like weapon and armor modding where 1 mod reigns supreme over everything else. It's kinda nifty cobbling everything together but there isn't a whole lot you can do with it unless you either go into Godmode or plan to scavenge lots and lots of parts.

The other issue is that you can only have 1 robot with you at a time. They function the same as companions. So no giant army of robots following you around, you can only have 1. I find this bullshit since the trailer explicitly made it seem like we could have multiple robots at once and make them fight each other. More false advertising.

The only real novelty of the mod is confronting the Mechanist as the Silver Shroud. There's 1 or 2 funny lines there but it doesn't justify going through her shitty factory for it.

The new power armor isn't nearly as fancy as the ads made it out to be, and I haven't actually found any of the new weapons so I can't comment on those. I think the leader of the Rust Devils that's supposed to have the unique weapons glitched out for me and never spawned. Though I did get lucky and find a very nice suit of that Enclave power armor in their base that they had for some reason.

All and all, I'd say give it a try. It literally only takes an hour to beat. Turn on godmode and fuck around with the robot creation a bit. You might like it. I found it completely underwhelming.

Remind me again how much the base price is? This all seems absurd.

Base price for this turd is 10 US dollars. For something that should've been in the base game. Seriously, it adds NOTHING new. The robot building just feels like something ripped from the base game and charged extra money for.

For the record, it also doesn't add anything to the base game either outside of being able to make a single robot companion to take with you. It doesn't improve on that robot racing track, which I think would've been a great thing for the DLC to do. We can build our own robots, now let's race them against each other and be able to place bets and whatnot! Then that would give our robots something to do other than follow us around or guard settlements! But no, that might actually be fun. Bethesda isn't about fun anymore.

The only other redeemable thing about this DLC other than being able to customize Codsworth is that you can take robots you build and turn them into settlers. And since food and water are both glitchy as fuck in my game, this would've been a great thing to have back when I gave a shit, since robots don't require food or water to function. Pretty sure all you need are beds for the robot colony to function.

I think you are decent person Ragemage, I like your style, but I could not play it. I don't think it is worth any amount of money and in fact, I dislike Fallout 4 so much that I uninstalled it. If someone were to buy DLC for me and pay me to play it I would have to refuse. I appreciate your efforts in testing the water, but at what price? Do you not value your thoughts? Are you comfortable allowing Bethesda to dilute them? It is a battle. Todd's tender lips whispered in your ear, he told you to play it. You must break the curse of the siren's song. There is still time for you, it is not too late.

You know I love you Dirty Shoe, but someone has to sacrifice their sanity to test these DLCs. I already spent money on them months ago, I can't refund them since I didn't get them on Steam, I have nothing to lose at this point. I only played the game for an hour to try out the DLC. Don't plan to play it again until the next one comes out then probably play that one for the 30 minutes of gameplay it provides just so I can give people an honest opinion about it.

If someone doesn't play this schlock, who's going to warn the people about how bad it is? That's why I played through the entirety of Fallout 4. Not for myself, no, but so I could fully understand the plot and be able to fully explain to people why they need to stay the fuck away. It's for the good of everyone.

The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few. Although I will say this, Bethesda's never getting my money again.

I accept this sacrifice,
He with brave heart and iron soul.
May lies never penetrate your honor,
And Bethesda never earn your coin, without merit.

Modders already worked on that, with weapons. I have no doubts that something like that will come for robots too.

Maybe modders should be in charge over Beth.

I found a t-60 tesla armor set from those new raiders Rust Devils, and did anyone else find the Robotron pipboy game too? I was able to mix different model parts robobrain arms with secuitron body etc so not sure about the "you can't mix different models" charge I read earlier. The new tesla gun was a little underwhelming though, and the robot Head gun is a little wonky. It took me significantly more time then an hour an account of I don't fast travel all around the map and I encountered Rust Devil encounters along my way to and fro. It adds some new dressing to a few locations that for lucks sake I had not been too yet, Fort Hagen Satellite Array for example. Anybody else getting Reaver wannabe vibe from the Rust Devils at least atheistically if not ideologically?
