Fallout 4: Does anyone else find the pre-war opening contrived?

i assume the only thing brian has done recently was the wasteland 2 remake that is on steam? .

What Wasteland 2 remake? The game came out last year, how could there be a remake of it?

Pretty sure that poster means the Director's Cut that comes out in October, which was developed in concert with the console port. Everything they're adding for the console version anybody who owns the PC version is going to get for free, but they'll make some money on console sales presumably.

the wasteland 2 that came out last yr, is a remake of an older wasteland 2 i believe, from what i read in the game description.

Wasteland 2 is a sequel to Wasteland, hence the 2. Wasteland was a 1988 post-apocalyptic roleplaying game developed by Interplay (with Brian Fargo directing) and published by EA. In the mid-90s, Interplay was trying to create a sequel to Wasteland, but was unable to get the rights to the Wasteland name from EA, so they decided to make it a spiritual sequel and called it "Fallout" instead.

In 2002 the rights to "Wasteland" in the context of a video game were allowed to lapse (I think Konami had them for some reason), so Brian Fargo's InXile studio snapped it up, and eventually in 2012 kickstarted a Wasteland 2 which is a direct, official sequel to the original (Fallout and Wasteland are spiritually similar but canonically irreconcilable.)

ah ok. i think that makes sense to me, the description led me to think the game was a remake of an old wasteland 2 game. good to know, well it seems brian isnt busy, he has a new company and fallout no longer belongs to him but bethesda... just think if brian fargo was brought in to do the current fallout games, that would be awesome!
