Fallout 4 getting increasingly negative reviews

A friend of mine played F4 first and was put off by all the retro's 50 feel to it all.
In fact, he didn't really think it was that much of a good game.

I will force him to play F1,F2,NV even if it kills me.
Could always kill yourself and leave a will that asks him to play the games. :V
It's a joke for fucks sake.

I hear that it's a good game but a really bad Fallout game. I've also heard that it's a bad RPG and the roleplaying aspect is almost nonexistent because you're railroaded into playing a good guy or a sarcastic good guy.

I've heard that, but I have yet to see a single thing that was really, actually good about it. Even the gunplay, which is admittedly better than it used to be, is ultimately undermined by Bethesda still thinking that more hp = challenge and therefore the whole game needs to be filled with bullet sponges. At this point, I honestly think that 'Fallout 4 is a good game' is a result of nothing more than Beth and their cultists repeating 'Bethesda makes amazing games' over and over so much that people just sorta accept it now.
playing a good guy or a sarcastic good guy
More like 'a bland guy' or 'a bland guy that sometimes throws a sarcastic quip'.

The thing that infuriates me the most about FO4 is the fact that they could have DESIGNED a game. But instead they just threw random features into it. Who is the creative lead? Why aren't they doing their job? Oh and the story is still garbage. I hope someone buys Fallout from them soon because this is killing me.

More likely than not given their fanbase. Then again I thought Oblivion and Skyrim were pretty amazing games when they came out. Even Fallout 3 really hooked me despite it not being on the same level as the old games in many ways. Fallout 4 is the first game from Beth that gave me pause. Everything I have seen within the game leaves me a bit disappointed and wondering why Todd Howard went up on stage and praised the old games and told everyone how much they mean to everyone at Beth, only to then make a game like Fallout 4 that is practically the antithesis to classic Fallout.

F4 is 71/79% which is 'mostly positive' in both categories. Will it go lower? What do you guys think?
I think after Nuka World and Vault Tec Workshop are released and the Season Pass content is officially all released, there will be more negative reviews for the Season Pass and probably the game. It won't go lower than "Mostly Positive" though. Once all the content is actually out, and unless Nuka World is insanely good, most people are going to feel ripped off at the Season Pass in my opinion. Fallout fans never asked for a crafting-based offline MMO.

Either way, Fallout 4 is on track to be the lowest rated Fallout game AND Bethesda game ever made according to Steam. Congrats Bethesda!

Morrowind, 93% and 95%.
Oblivion, 92% and 95%.
Fallout 3, 81% and 81%.
Fallout 3 GOTY, 77% and 83%.
Skyrim, 95% and 93%.
Fallout 4, 71% and 79%.

Fallout 3 GOTY ain't doing too well either.
Probably cause of:

Also Fallout games.

Fallout 4 is both the worst bethesda game ever made AND the worst Fallout game ever made according to Steam. A major accomplishment.

Well, that's due to BoS not being up there.

But yea, Bethesda doing the DLC-Season pass thing was a major faux pass. Gamers demand more content, and they'll pay for it. Hell if I know how it got started to be how it is now, even Tropico got onboard the DLC train and rode it, rode it hard; but it's there. And now they've said, to millions of new players their marketing somehow attracted, 'this is what you get, thanks for the money!' AND increase the season pass cost thereafter in their own twisted logic that, well, the game's over, so it's now 'complete' and that's the price one pays for a 'complete' game in AAAgame land.

The backlash isn't against anything in F4, it's actually that these millions like what they got and want more, and Bethesda isn't delivering. What this may do is hurt the sales for the next game, but I don't think by much.

Umm...there is actually quite a decent amout of backlash to FO4. Most of the negative arguments are about the stripping of RPG elements and turning the game into an open world shooter.

Most well written non troll negative user reviews on Steam and metacritic state that, not that there isn't enough DLC.

They do (rightfully imo) blast the lack of depth to the game.

Its a mile wide and a foot deep.

Honestly? I would rather play fallout POS.

Edit: Sorry its late here so my slow sleepy brain misrepresented what you said a bit, I realise you seemed to be talking about NEW players. I was more referring to people who started with the originals or in some cases FO POS 2 (FO 3)

You gotta admit, it's been a huge trainwreck. 3 and 4 both are mediocre at best. 3 was somewhat vindicated by virtue of producing NV, but the east coast setting drops games dead more than the stock market! (see what I did there?)

Wanna bet 5 takes place in NY?

actually the backlash IS against fallout 4... Its dumbed down ultra casual garbage that is NOT a fallout RPG. The season pass scam just added to its problems.

And if you have to say that "at least Fallout 4 is better than BoS", you've already lost lol

Fallout 4 destroyed the entire franchise. And this is coming from someone who thinks Fallout 3 was comparatively decent.

The thing is when people bring up BOS the fact remains it was a console novelty and nothing more. The game did nothing for the cannon, and didn't really add anything. BOS has more in common with that silly vault app game than a stand alone title.
