Fallout 4 pre-order

Pinkolik

First time out of the vault
Since pre-order is available I have a question for fallout fans. Are you going to buy/pre-order Fallout 4 or are you going to pirate it? And explain your choice please.

No pre-order, not pirating it either. Going to wait until its on sale of some kind. I don't pre-order anything on principal.

I've never purchased a Bethesda product and I never will until they start supporting DRM-free distribution like GOG.com.

No pre-order, likely not buying until the inevitable GOTY edition with all DLC drops.
On the other hand I'm about to have a steady influx of disposable income, so maybe I will actually buy it earlier...
Or, depending on how intensely shitty it turns out, I might not buy it at all.
It really depends on how well it looks at release. But pre-order is never good with big companies.

If I were you, I'd waste the new income on a brand new machine. And TW3 Collector's Edition. Fuck Fallout. That shit's dead for over a decade and there's better stuff on the market than the future sequel.

I agree with South Park. Pre-ordering is fucking bullshit. I will be picking up one of those fancy collector editions though. I didn't with Fallout 3 and I wish I did, if not just for the Bobblehead. I really liked the graphic novel that came with New Vegas and the poker chips. Very appropriate.

I wonder if anyone has ever pre-ordered semen.

*Blank stare*

I will likely just buy the game when it comes out. I do, on occasion, preorder a game. But this is usually simply to take advantage of the preloading I can do with Steam. Back when I still was buying physical copies of games, I would preorder simply so that on the day a game I was looking forward to was coming out, that there would be a copy at the store waiting for me. Digital distribution does not have that issue, so preordering serves little to no purpose. And I definitely can see why there are many who do not approve of the current preorder culture that is so widespread these days. I would be lying if I said that the fact that on Steam, it's currently on the top sellers list after just one trailer didn't cause me some confusion.

Nope, never preordered and wont here either, seems kinda like NoWin move to preorder something. Might buy it if it seems enjoyable enough. I bought Skyrim for 10e and thought it was worth the price, i think F4 will be worth that price at least but lets see.

Why is that? Can you give some examples? Do you think half-life 3 will have pre-order too?

Pre-ordering gives big companies the impression that whatever they do, people will buy it unseen. That means they can release shitty ports, badly optimised or outright buggy and unfinished games without hurting their sales too badly.
The Call of Duty games are a good example of this, I think. Or Fallout 3/Skyrim. The STALKER series, while not made by a big dev, also had problems with that.
Not to mention that pre-order does not make any sense at all when you download the game through Steam or any other service anyway. It used to make sense to pre-order so you'd get the game exactly on release and didn't have to rely on your local brick-and-mortar store to have enough copies of the game. But there's no point in that anymore, so we should stop giving the publishers the impression that we'll buy anything without knowing shit about it.
And yes, Half-Life 3 will have pre-order, if it will ever be made.

I can count on my hands the number of times I paid in advance for a game (pre-order, kickstarter etc). Overall I never pre-order, nor do I buy games on day one. Usually I stand by the ~3 patches rule or wait for GOTY release in case of games which are expect to be released with multiple DLCs.

For example Pillars of eternity and Wasteland2 are few of the exception, that I bought in advance, although I have yet to play Pillars of eternity (last I checked it had day one patch and since then it hit about 5 )

I don't intend to buy it as long as i didn't read some praises or at least endorsement from codex/nma reviews and i hope those who hated Fo3 would do the same. The units didn't sold to those people might get the publisher to decide to polish their games.

If there is no good review, i might or might not get the GOTY for less than 5$. Most likelty not...

Neither. Civilization 5 is Sauron, and I am one of his Nazghul: bound to its will, can't play anything else. :freak:

What would the CE for FO4 have? Special Editions have become extremely lame in the recent years unless is made by Atlus.

I have no clue. Last time I bought one was for New Vegas. I think I ended up paying $80 for it.

It doesn't really matter what it is. I would be happy with a statuette, more playing cards, another bobblehead, a hardback comic, even a map or instruction booklet would be fine.

The fauxleather box, deck, chips and comic were indeed sweet. Also got the armored V13 suit pack with it, but I think that was because I bought it on Amazon.

It's been kind of a tradition for me to end up with the stupid-expensive edition of Fallout when it releases since they always come out around my birthday and despite my love/hate relationship with the franchise everyone close to me knows it's one of the only easy gift picks for me. We'll see what happens; if left to my own devices to finance it, I probably won't have the means or the motivation unless there's, by some vanishingly remote chance, a collector's edition available with actual worthwhile physical goodies on offer.
