Fallout: A Post-Nuclear Movie

well

If you do and indie or a short and get it showed as a few festivals just to get the idea out there, you might be able get some more finacial backing.

So, where you thinking about digital or film for this project?

minidv, i can get my hands on an XL-1 or two as long as i have a solid shooting schedule. I live in Texas, so with a little bit of searching im sure i can find a desolate wasteland....

Well.

Well if you ever have a shooting schedule I'd be happy to help out. I'll even have a new panasonic dvx-100 (Hopefully) thaqt I'll be using for my business that gives things a nice filmy look. I'd be happy to help out during the summer months since I'll be on break from school and being that I control my own schedule... I can schedule a break in there. I also have an aunt that lives down in San Antonio so I always end up going to tx every year... If your planning on doing it at your location.
I also am pretty good at editing, just upgraded to Vegas 5 with dvd for the business and for any sound track work can always fire up sonicfire if your like me and have no skills when it comes to loop-based software.
I'm a really big fan of the Indie scene and actually started work this summer on my own short indie that I hope to show at a couple local film fests. Right now I'm in the middle of writing the screen play and have someone else working in tandem on the story board. I hope to have it all done my next summer so I can start working on budget concerns and film it the summer of 2006.
Anyway, if you need any help just give me a holler. I've never done anything beyond wedding and a few personal events, but I'm one heck of an enthusiast.
:D

Talk to you all later

Greg

still moving too fast;

say, im doing something set around the same time as the events in Fallout, but based on whats happening in Texas (not enough mountains near by to pass as West Coast). Anyone remember there being a picture which showed the vaults nation wide, and if one was here? If not that it would have to be something involving ghouls or something.

ok, i think ive narrowed it down to the events of the group with Harold raiding the mutant compound.

have a short 5 minute intro to the setting/wastelands, show the group leaving town headed out.

then the arrival and sneaking into the base, discovering a few things, ambush of the crew.

and the eventual end confrontation and blacking out of Harold, to reawaken in the wastes, picked up by a caravan and taken to the hub.

about a 30-45 minute short, self contained, but a set up for a longer one in the future.

Sounds like muties

Well it sounds like there will be a few muties involved. And that mean latex.

I'm not sure what experience you have in theater makup but if you need a good step by step guide you can go to

http://www.makeup-fx.com/Skumeng.ht... goes and how the storyboard fleshes out.

ok folks, script should be finished by end of september at latest, web site should be up around the same time.

About how old was Harold when they found the mutant base? The game doesnt really say.

im trying to clarify a few things;

Harold says that at the time before they found the base, mutants were poping up all over. When talking about the base, he only recounts the robots, were there mutants maning the facility, or did they just wander aimlessly attacking the locals.

Also, did Robert show any signs of telepathic abilites BEFORE his bath?

another question...if anyone still listens to me,

with all of Interplay's legal problems, the only thing they sold was the rights to FO3 to Bethesda correct, the sinking ship still holds any and all other rights, correct?

What part of Texas are you in? I'm also in the Lone Star State, and am aware of several areas around Big Bend that would be very good for this type of shooting.

Here's some linkage:

There's also some ruins by the Mexican border, near the river that might offer some good "oasis/shelter" type shots.

Night time shooting is excellent out there, considering the lack of artificial lighting, the stars/moon are incredible to see when out in the middle of the desert.

I've done a bit of camping out there, so if you're going for extended stays, make sure to pack plenty of water, and realize the temps can vary from 110-120 during the day, to about 36 at night.

I live near Arlington, which is set a bit south between Dallas and Ft.Worth, i had two places in mind for the most part, Lubbock and Vernon. Lubbock has that wasteland look, Vernon...well, it also is very wastlandish but, what few buildings they have on their 'main street' were all built around the 50's and it just has that dilapidated feel of a 50s city that has just fallen to the elements and lack of care...much like the real city.

There wont be that much location shooting, hopefully only two days, for the opening and the initial set up, most of it will take place inside Mariposa base, THAT is where im having problems coming up with places to shoot. Were going to build some basic corridors that we can rearrange for the bulk of the shooting, but, we need a large area for the two vats, plus an entrance. The base itself will probably be a model composited into a wide shot.

Dont think anyone replied to my earlier question, at the time of the Grey expedition, what would be there to gaurd the building? the handies and brain bots? possibly a mutant or two? not to mention the crane....

possibly some mutated vermin (rats and whatnot)

and mutants that have become violent too

i seem to remember harold tells you they lost lots of men going in there, but he blamed mutations and stuff rather than securitydriods

(i could be wrong of course, but it's possible the securitydriods were destroyed by the mutants)

harumph...i thought he said that they lost most of the people getting in due to robots...i think i have his conversation on tape, il try to listen to it again this afternoon, anyone KNOW off hand what he said?

hmz could be could be

i have to admit it's been quite a while since a last heard that particular part of his speech, so it's possible i'm completely mistaken

Well, I'll be damned, I live in Arlington as well, South Arlington, Green Oaks/Bowen area. South of 20.

Go figure. Let me know if you need any help with set building, I'm pretty handy with the hammer.

As far as the Grey expedition, I would imagine that it would have been previously undiscovered, or those vagrants who had found would have been whacked by the base defenses.

Ok, after just having lunch with a friend of mine whose played Fallout for a while, i think this should fit.

The lower levels, closer to the vats are mainly protected by robots, the outside of the base and the top level are actualy protected by some mutants that have come to call the base their home. Seeings how i imagine there arent any other buildings near the damned thing, wandering vagrants would find it, and since they were already exposed to radiation, the introduction of the FEV to their system due to being around the base, turned them into mutants, and having no where else to go. Set up camp on the top level of the base, not knowing how to access the depths (FEV at this time affecting the intelligence)

Now, this helps with harold's speach aluding to mutants raiding the caravans. If you have a small settlement of mutants calling the base home, they need supplies, so they would send out small raiding parties to steal supplies and such. After a few raids, Richard decides to figure out where they are coming from, either for the sake of the people or to satisfy his sick curiosity over these strange creatures (harold says he is a great doctor so that could fit and give him a stronger character with more depth).

While your chewing on that, chew on this:

Where do you all stand on this possibility. I was tinkering with the idea of a BOS soldier saving Harold. How is this possible? The BOS know about the mutants, but at this point they obviously dont know where they are coming from (since they dont in FO1), any military organization would be sending out small, possibly one mane search teams to find the base. I could see one guy notice a small group leave the caravans and head off in a different direction, decide to follow and see where the were going (if it was mutant related). Sees them enter the base, but cant get ahold of nearest soldier/base to inform them, then he gets under attack himself and winds up slowly following them into the base. At the end, the crane knocks Richard in the vat, then knocks Harold out and the BOS soldier carries harold out to safety (which explains how he escaped) and then BOS boy gets killed himself, so the BOS still doesnt know where they are....whew

How does that sound to you fan boys? the whole BOS sub plot can easily be cut either for logical reasons or for budgetary reasons...FEEDBACK GIVE ME FEEDBACK!!
