Fallout Easter Eggs

I believe the Unwashed Villagers encounter is a refference to an online Fallout community much like this one. In the encounter they are fighting of a spammer.

The crashed whale, as you can read on this pagethis page</a> is a reference to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; in that book a whale comes crashing down as well, together with a pot of daisies, which can be found in the random encounter as well.

As for the Unwashed Villagers, they're the oldest Fallout internet community, I believe, who can be found here.
The spammer is supposed to be Grim, who has been a member of this forum as well, shortly after joining he was banned for spamming, though.

Of course, you could've found most of this information with just a wee bit of googling and looking around this very site.

maybe I could have, but I don't have so much time for surfing on the net lately. thanx for the info.
that Grim guy must be proud for seeing himself being shot as a spammer in a random encounter

Another robot-related Easter Egg:

One of the robot combat lines is "The humanoid must not escape." This is from the old coin-op game, Berzerk!

I don't know if this is really a easter egg but isn't sierra army depot related with terminator's sierra army depot?

:?

...

I'm not heavilyinto things related to Austrian gübernators.

How exactly is the Sierra Army Depot supposed to relate to The Terminator films?

In terminator there's a "abandoned place" i think a shelter called Sierra Army Depot.

And yes, the virus that starts the machine destruction is called skynet right?

Skynet is an intelligent machine, designed to control nuclear retaliation, should America be nuked.
Skynet realizes that machines are superior to humans, and could rule over them.
This leads to Skynet launching nuclear missiles at Americans; and activating the robots in the facility

Didn't Skynet launch the missiles at Russia, knowing that their counter-attack would destroy their enemies in America?

Also, in which Terminator film was the "adandoned place"?

Yeah, I can't remember a SAD in the Terminator films and I seen all three of them pretty often. I think you're confused with Crystal Peak.

You can find the abandoned place at Terminator 3, but T3 was out after Fallout, so T3 has a easter egg about fallout?

Probably part 2 or 3.

Part 3 had a lot of military tech in it, part 2 had Sarah Connor and her teenage son lurking around in the desert at some point.

Also, the three movies are all based on different versions of the future, including different origins of Skynet, different reasons for Skynet's decision to cause a nuclear war, and so on.

I think one of the versions was that they tried to shut Skynet down when it gained conciousness and Skynet nuked them, another one being that they didn't pay attention to it gaining conciousness and Skynet decided they were a threat to the planet or whatever, and a third version was that Skynet just figured humanity sucks.

If the Fallout game itself is to be believed, the Sierra Army Depot really exists. As I don't live anywhere near California, I wouldn't know for certain, but I'm certain that any "genuine American military depot" like the SAD would have better security than a chain-operated camoflaged entrance and a bunch of Mexicans.

But I have a question to the site mods: Are there any plans to overhaul the Easter Egg list for Fallout 2? As I see it, it could use one, as some Easter Eggs are mentioned several times in the list, and it looks like it hasn't been updated in a while.

Yeah, there's a weapon depot in T2, but I don't remember the name. In the desert though.

You call that a weapon depot? It's the Mexican's personal collection I always thought...

If you watch T3 to the end, the movie ends in a depot that i think it's called sierra army depot that's abandoned. The depot is inside a montain.

They go to the depot in search of turn off the core of skynet, but skynet can't be shut down.

Another Monty Python reference :

As I said before, that's called Crystal Peak or something like it.

Tragic Cards

I don't know if u noticed it but Tragic the Garnering (Cards found n most Gecko ghouls) is a reference to Magic the Gathering Cards. I find myself playing those all afternoon (yes i play magic). dont know if anyone else knows and plays Magic the Gathering
